Has to partner with Sony of to get the game made

>has to partner with Sony of to get the game made
>budget is smaller than a single episode of game of thrones
>game is savaged by critics
>pre-order sales will likely account for 90% of the games lifetime sales
>even the biggest shill websites call Sean Murray out on his bullshit
Regardless of whether or NMS is actually good, is Hello Game's career over? Will they ever have a successful game again?

It doesn't matter.
What matters is the big corporate entity made the bank with the game.

>believed all the hype
>but that wasn't enough, so made up even more hype
>game comes out and it sadly has to conform to reality
>is bitterly angry, perhaps for years
what's his name, Sup Forums? OH IT'S YOU, YOU DUMB FUCK

It didn't lose money, so at worst they'll dissolve the studio and just spread the members over existing teams because the company has a bad name now.

Sean is probably the only one who is fucked here. I really doubt he'll lead another high budget project again.

The'll just cash out with their millions and reform under another name.

I dont understand the hype for this game. I never saw much of anything except the box art for ages and soniggers saying it was going to be the greatest thing ever. How did people get so wound up when the devs were litterally whos and no content was shown?

Sonyggers

They will certainly lose credibility, but there was a post yesterday with an article about No Man's Sky reporting 200 million in revenue. Considering the game is incredibly bland and relies heavily on procedural generation, I'm to believe they achieved a good profit.
People who already own the game will also buy whatever DLC they release in hope for it to fix the game flaws.

It's pretty much another case of Watchdogs

nice Sup Forums pasta

>has to partner with amazon studios of all fucking places to get the movie made
>budget is smaller than a single episode of game of thrones
>movie is savaged by critics
>box office gross is absolutely tiny against the already tiny budget
>even gosling calls him out on his bullshit throughout an entire interview
Regardless of whether or not his newest movies are actually good, is Refn's career over? Will he ever make that Powergirl movie?

Devs hyped the game up and ended up lying about 90% of the features

Good god its the same scam in a different medium. Why is this a thing?

>Start out with huge ambitions to make a giant overworld and fun gameplay
>Finds out ambitions are way too big, not possible to fit all of it in in 2 years
>Game delayed
>Game delayed
>Comes out on stages still hoping he can get this game out
>???
>Game released, okay game but has much less content than promised
>tfw you tried to make the next minecraft but ended up making roblox without multiplayer

Minecraft started out small and built up to something the player has to build himself.

Numale's Sky wanted to start out big and have everything good to go. Even then, if Sean Murray hadn't lied so much the disappointment might have been less bad.

That sounds more like the story of Street Fighter V.

Overpricing was this games biggest mistake. I don't know who told them it was a good idea to put it in a box for $60, but they are a fucking idiot.

This didn't affect them at all, companies lie all the time.

>relationship with sony
>product didn't COMPLETELY flop, only mostly
all you need to know. they'll be pumping out overhyped stuff for a few years more

Sup Forums knew it was gonna be shit from the beginning. I dunno what are you talking abiut

Everybody who bought it fully deserves the shit they got. What did people expect to find here? It was always clear that this would be a slightly prettier minecraft without building and randomly generated creatures.

No story, no characters, no meaningful way of interacting with the world. Only complete idiots bought this.

>No story, no characters, no meaningful way of interacting with the world.

This holds true for the vast majority of video games. People enjoy shitting on NMS, but it's blatantly obvious that this reductio ad absurdum is valid for almost any video game, and thus makes NMS not different at all.

Todd Howard is still a huge well respected figure in video games.
Peter Molyneux could pick almost any studio/publisher he wanted if he wanted to return to leading AAA projects.

Sean Murray and Hello Games are both totally fine and most likely made a ton of money on NMS.
They have a lot of time to fix and add things to it too. I honestly think 3 years from now it will be fleshed out and people will have mostly forgotten the launch state of it.

The difference here is that you can overexaggerate and break down every game like that, only it holds completely true for No Mans Sky.

>budget is smaller than a single episode of game of thrones
Quite possibly the most retarded connection to make ever.

>only it holds completely true for No Mans Sky.
I'd wager it holds true for a large number of video games, if not the majority.

65daysofstatic sure as hell are sorted for the future if they wanna do more video game music.

>I-it's the new TORtanic guys!!!
>We won again guys!!!

What did he mean by this?
