correct

No contest. Just the right amount of silly. Most shit to do as well.

of course

3 is better just for the intro

Without a doubt.

I like 3 better gameplay wise but the story is just fucked beyond repair

definitely.

Yes. Anyone who tries to say 3 is better is to be ignored.

SR4 > Everything Else

:^)

Fo sho.

2 > 4 >>>>>>>>>>> 3

Didnt play 1. But 3 sucked.

2>1>4>3

Anyone who says 1 is shit didnt play it when it first came out in 2006. It showed us what open world games could become. Also the MP was fun as fuck.

2>4>3>1
Saints Row 1 is fucking garbage it is surprising it was able to get a sequel

Theres a hole in the earth

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

Still somewhat grounded in reality without becoming too self-aware for its own good. The silliness is plentiful enough to keep you smiling, but the solid gameplay is the real star.

Once the Saints turned into celebrities, everything went downhill.

I agree, at least on PC since 2 is a mess

>Anyone who says 1 is shit didnt play it when it first came out in 2006
agreed.

if you played 1 back in 2006 it was amazing, it was like gta san andreas fixed and remastered

2>4=1>3

1 was best overall. 2 was when shit was beginning to get stupid, but the customization was really good. all the others are shit not worth playing

Goddamn 2 was good.

3 has a better engine and is obviously more stable/a better port, but 2 had better versions of literally everything actual game related.

Dressing up as different games was a fucking hoot.

1&2

EVERYTHING ELSE IS SHIT

I sunk more hours on the "running into traffic to score money" mini-game than I did playing through the actual story.

10 years later, that shit is still a hilarious way to kill an afternoon.

Why does everyone hate 3 so much? 4 was fucking trash.

2>1>3>>>>>

I think the real reason why it's the best is that the story beats are still the most dramatic in the series. The shit that went down in the missions with the Brotherhood and Carlos was brutal.

Though the rest of the games were a lot of fun, the story wasn't anywhere near the same quality

Making a custom Jason Statham a la "Chev Chelios" and giving him the gruff British accent in SR 2 is one of the most satisfying things I've ever done.

I wonder whats next for the series if anything at all. I'd honestly it rather die if they dont go back to 2's style of good balance between seriousness and sillyness. Also bring back 2's customization.

I don't hate three, but it really was the beginning of the end. People rate it lower than 4 because 4 is just so batshit insane that it's almost kind of admirable.

>it took a decade for Dead Rising 1 to get a pc port
will the same happen to Saints Row 1?

*3>2>>>>>>>>

>mfw there are people who unironically think 3 is the best

too much padding and filler

I WANNA GANGSTA BOOGIE

WIT MY GANGSTA BITCH

am I the only one here who never used Forgive & Forget or had a face change?

That shit was whack. I refused to use such a dumb mechanic. I just hid in my crib for a few.

>Play through SR2 the first time about a month ago
>All of the "serious" stuff is so heavy handed it comes off as funny half of the time
>Carlos' death wasn't effective at all since you only interact with him for like 5 minutes before he dies.

>tfw you will never go to Freckle Bitches with ur bois

Two is literally the best

Just go to Wendy's, bruh.

2>1>4>3>GooH

2 is the perfect game for the genre. It follows the open world gansta formula but has enough of an identity to stand on it's own.

1 is great but at the end of the day, it is a slightly more raunchy GTA. Still great.

4 I can at least enjoy as a crackdown clone

3 is garbage

GooH is just sad.

>Daily reminder 3 and beyond doesn't have Fuzz, Septic Avenger or bodyguard.

Well Coach my only gripe with 2 is that the DLC's aren't ported into the PC. Also those music. Classical list was fucking awesome.

>he's never been to Wendy's with the lads

1 was the game I bought along with my 360 back in 2006. Fuck those were some fun times running around playing protect the pimp. Also so many hours wasted just running around in that little multiplayer room talking to people.
Can it be 2006 again?

RIP fight club. wonder why that activity never returned post 2

yap that one is the best

Yes

I don't think they'll ever go back to SR2's style.

Their new IP is looking even crazier and more fantasy-like.

SR2 was lightning in a bottle. They can't even remember how they were thinking or what they did at the time to make it so good. Which is a shame, because the answer was obvious: Try to make it like San Andreas, but better and with more stuff.

It just so happened that they set the game in a realistic world, which made the boss' actions seem more outlandish and powerful, but still within the realm of human possibility. This made the player feel like when they mess around in the sandbox, it's justified and reflected in the main characters, who stand out more when they are the only ones who are nonchalant towards chaos while everyone else was realistically shocked by it. In this realistic world, different emotions are felt at different times. There is tragedy, and strife, and conquest, but there is also comic relief, for levity. Note: that's comic RELIEF, i.e. an occasional humorous moment to relieve an excessive buildup of tension or gravity of tone, not jokes and memes and slapstick and fanservice being fed to you at a constant rate.

In SR3 the world just seemed so much more cartoony and fantasy-like. There was too much levity, none of the characters seemed like real people. "Rule of cool" became the only rule around, with characters doing impossible or out-of-character things just for 'cool' factor or laughs, and the world around just seems to accept it as your regular everyday thing, so it doesn't even feel that extraordinary when you do it. It doesn't help that those "cool" things are usually just done with a single contextual button or QTE segment, removing any feeling of control you had over the situation.

>the DLC's aren't ported into the PC
Still?

Ffs, does volition hate their fans?

Because they cut the melee combat system down to a single punch button that does a wacky finisher (any one from the list of 5 or so, in sequence) upon the third hit. No grab, no block, no holds for special attacks, no choosing which special or finisher to use, no alternate fighting styles, and melee weapons got cut down to 3 or 4 baseball-bat-like objects.

They probably made the fight club minigame but found it too boring and strategy-resistant to be included in the finished game.

Nope. The port was done by another company and they won't give Volition the source code for it.

>another company and they won't give Volition the source code
Gotta love industry contracts.

Still, nothing excuses Volition from not being able to do a PC port in-house.

It's pretty clear that most of the people who made SR2 aren't even at volition anymore.

>tfw I can only remember the ending for 3rd and IV
>remember liking SR2 but cannot remember anything past the lightbulb mission.

sr4 is too "Le rendom XDD" for me to enjoy it.

The ability shit pretty much ruined the series for me.

You lucky bastard, you get to replay one of the greatest stories in all of gaming.
GET UP.

Their sugar daddy THQ is dead. And they've been constantly busy with other projects yearly. I for one is exited for Agents of Mayhem. Though i think they are never gonna let go of the "wacky oh so randum" theme in their open world action games.

SR4 being good is in my top 5 worst Sup Forums opinions. Not that the mechanics weren't good, because they were great, but there was no game besides it. The time/setting never changed, the world wasn't immersive or interesting to explore, superspeed made cars and customization useless, while enemies have never been super varied in the games 4 makes it even worse by removing all sense of personality from the aliens you fight,

It played like a DLC that you have fun with for 3 hours then disregard,

ye

There's a best in this shit-show? hmm I played them all but I never found any of them any good, just something to do to kill a day or two. Gat out of Hell was funnier to me then most.

>tripfag has a shit opinion

What a fucking surprise.

You know, in 2, I expected the game to connect to Red Faction, give a reason why Ultor set a mine up on Mars.

Or have shit that messes up the tone for TWO game series, that's fine.

You know, I would fucking love SR4 if it weren't for that fucking random "glitch rendering" effect that appears on every surface every .5 seconds and can't be turned off.

Like, I would honestly boot up the game every so often and go back to either super power raping everything with ease, or loading up my save before getting powers so I can play the sandbox like a classic SR game, but that god damn visual effect ruins it every time. It starts to give me a headache after a while because my eyes think they're unfocusing.

Something about the city design in 2 really struck a chord with me. It was varied and interesting. 3 was prettier, had more interesting little details, but for the life of me I can't remember most of it.

2>4>1>3
3 a shit

3 had a couple setpieces and iconic tower clusters, but most of it was just copy + pasted houses and buildings all over.

Stillwater had distinct districts and areas with distinct architecture, pedestrians, vehicles, and stations people would listen to. You could look at one screenshot of SR2 and know exactly where on the map it would be. The unique custom houses only added to the immersion, as well as the fact that Stillwater had many signs of care and detail. Almost any random little nook and cranny or rooftop will have some sign of attention, be it a unique tile design, a fountain, a shrub/tree arrangement, some benches, a patio, a statue or sculpture, just SOMETHING other than a blank corner or alleyway or courtyard.

Steelport was all the same generic city. One coastline was indistinguishable from another. So many areas were just left blank and unattended to. Even the houses you could buy all ended up having the same interior, if you could enter them at all, aside from the one that you couldn't even do anything interesting in.
