LA Noire

Going to start this soon vee, how are the side quests? Are they worth playing or would I be fine sticking to the main story?

Ideally would like to get through it quickly because backlog, but wouldn't want to miss out on the experience either

Did any other game go on to use the TECHNOLOGY they had in place here?

uncharted 4 had the subsurface scattering approximation on ears when bright light shines at you

this is the only other game I've seen do it properly

by the way the game is really shit

You should do a little exploring.
I would recommend doing about 1 street crime per case. If you have the "complete" edition anyway.

And once you get to the arson desk, be sure to do some extra stuff because the game feels a little light toward the end.

It's very close to a 10/10 story but has some problems with execution.

t. LA NOIRE player close to a platinum

>by the way the game is really shit
don't listen to this faggot

LA NOIRE is, at minimum, the best example of a story-focused game still having serviceable gameplay, unlike Telltale and that kind of shit.

I would definitely play another LA NOIRE, and I would definitely buy other games that played like this.

I fucking hate the interrogations in this game. If they're telling the truth it's fine but when they're lying it's a toss-up between doubt and lie, and if it's a lie, figuring out which piece of evidence, because you have no fucking clue what kind of absurd bullshit is going to come spewing out of Cole's mouth.

What TECHNOLOGY do you mean though? The face animation capture? Newer games don't use the same form of face capture tech but more detailed motion capture that manages to create pretty lifelike facial animations. GTAV and The Witcher 3 have some of the best facial animations I've seen thus far while anything generated by FaceFX is absolutely horrid these days.

LA Noire doesn't have that many side quests from what I remember? I remember plenty of chases, and shootouts, which were alright.

I did enjoy it a great deal, gunplay is pretty good, the investigation mechanics are wonky but overall it is a pretty good game, story and characters were great. Shame about that 30 FPS lock though

telltale games are horrible too so fuck you

Unlike Telltale this game has 10/10 dialogue and banter, lots of incidental stuff.

You aren't supposed to play it as the standard GTA and if you can't enjoy a game for the atmosphere and characterization then this game is not for you.

half of the main story shit is just pointless and the game looks like it's from 2007 while being LOCKED TO 30FPS

>side quests
>la noire

There are street missions but the rest is just fetch quests. The story is great but the game play get old really fast and it feels hollow because its beautiful looking but shit to play.

The game is fucking terrible.

>Approach witness
>Enter conversation.
>pick Option A: question.
>"WHY DID YOU MURDER THE VICTIM D:

It's sounding like a fun experience desu, looking forward to it

Exploring? Is it really the type of game to reward that?

Thanks lads. I figured like other R* games the game would be littered with side quests, but from the sounds of it sticking to the main story will do me fine. I'll do 1 street mission per case I guess, unless they get tedious.

Wasted potential. There is nothing to do besides the main story that has any substance.

>collect badges
>collect film reels
>drive every type of car
>street crimes

You'd honestly think there would be more to do in a open world like that.

The people who loved this game had no problem save scumming to get the right answers. I doubt they understood even half the conversations and interrogations, and just wanted the story to unfold.

Its nice to look at but the game play is repetitive.

Also the character you play as is a bit of a real cunt, not in angood way, you slowly realize you should be playing as another character throughout it. But ill let you find that out.

Well you can find landmarks and shit, and unlock new cars. Every once in a while just start getting in cars and answering crimes, it breaks the pace up. I don;t think the collectibles can be completed without a guide, it's simply not possible and it isn't that kind of game, but I wouldn't recommend mashing buttons to rush through the story sequences.

I got the complete edition for about 9 dollars so it really hit the spot for me.

Definitely the game would have been disappointing if you bought it day one.

I didn't save scum at all and I completely bombed a few cases but I got way better by the end..

that and they like get really mad at you and stop talking with you for the most mundane things

Go to youtube and typenin LA Noire movie and just watch someone else play it while you do something else.

Its literally not worth your time to not be doing something else while playing it.

Yeah i bought it on steam for cheap. Inwould be pissed if i bought it full price.

Tbh I'm probably the type of person to bomb every case if that's an option
Still won't save scum, far as I'm aware there's only one ending

It's not developed by R*, only published. Hence why it's like a pseudo GTA (probably due to some publisher interference to make the open world livelier or something) but the main chunk of the game is definitely in the the main missions. Everything else is really inconsequential and irrelevant.

this game is amazing. its like what those shitty telltale games are going for but done right. if you go in not expecting to kill 100s of enemies and instead just solve shit youll love it

The gunplay engine seems to actually come from The Getaway games on PS2, same developer. But the driving is R*, and the dialogue and performance level is off the charts compared to your average videogame.

>cole plays himself up as the golden boy hero
>sleeps around on his wife
>best MC is only playable for one chapter
>sacrifice ending
Could've been so much better

In one of the trailers they made it a selling point like its not like gta whatsoever.

They needed to have the wife and Cole interact a few times before missions to establish their relationship, and they needed to have Cole interact with the singer more before the big blow up.

They also needed to have a few extra missions as the other character to get the arc just right.

With a few teaks (or even more time in the oven) the game would be an all-time 10/10 on story execution.

Agreed. The only problem I had was with the pacing of the narrative, as in they jumped too much in terms of the protag's character development. I liked that they made him flawed, but they merely showed it via a short cutscene of him watching that lady's show in the club and smiling. Then, suddenly he's thrown out of his house and accused of cheating like what the fuck man. It's the protag that I've been playing, I think there shouldn't be that much secrecy surrounding them.

Though I blame that more on the game being rushed out and I'm certain Team Bondi would have put out something truly amazing had they the time and budget. Makes me even sadder that they're next game has been cancelled and they've been dissolved.
