Endgame is a carrot on a string grind fest, savage raids require average person weeks of DDR pattern memorization to beat.

It was still fun, but it is a massive time sink with little reward between patches. I'll rejoin next expac and quit once I clear it.

It's so stale though, yoshiP is a hack and miqittens aren't playable.

i think the biggest problem is that the truly new gameplay modes introduced in heavensward have been either underwhelming or terrible. diadem is a mess, legit the only time i've nearly fallen asleep playing a videogame (this was diadem hard with FC friends, it was extremely boring), palace of the dead is okay as levelling content but otherwise its fucking boring.

Like this guy said, p much raid then you get to test your self how loyal you are to this mmo.

super shit tier formula they got going on tho (2 dungeon/currency, raid patch every 6-7 months etc.)

WHM and SCH are bullies.
AST is kind and best healer.

...

>AST
>Best anything

If you aren't raiding what is the point of grinding dungeons and the 24 man every week? The new dungeons have an ilv of 210 next patch, so what's the point? Why do people even bother?

casuals wanna progress their characters too but yeah its fucking pointless. i havent had time to raid this year so all i keep my ilevel up for is so i can meaningfully contribute to new ex primal parties when they come out.

>One of the best soundtracks in history will go unnoticed because it's from an MMO

Sad times.

I hope when this game goes down like all MMOs eventually do Soken is able to continue his career because the guy is an impressive composer.

Is i210 confirmed? I'm 205, I'm poor, and I don't raid.

It's confirmed but the current weekly capped i230 gear is becoming uncapped so you'll be able to catch up quickly.

Mainly for currency/token to gear your self up, be it in relevant patch(raid) or "catch-up" patches" to gear your alt.

that's all they're good for.

Anyone play on Goblin?

I was triggered as soon as you said casuals, but your right.

I don't want to wast three hours a day trying to keep up with this shit, plus another dedicated five hour session to smash my head against a raid for weeks on end to just get stuck on another phase because my muscle memory isn't to the PTSD level yet.

If they got rid of dailies in favor of weeklies and you only needed like two hours a week to cap everything, I'd still play.

I've been playing it lately, and honestly I feel the opposite about the OST. The music just feels so lackluster compared to FFXI.

post lewds please

dont bully!

>want the Zantetsuken emote
>it's 130€

And containment has been broken.

>tfw was hype as fuck for dark knight but its one of the clunkiest and most poorly designed classes in the game

sry mate

That is literally me.

There is nothing worse than hitting that cleric stance by accident. It's the longest 5 seconds.

This is too real.

Feel the same. They said it takes almost a year to develop a job. ONE fucking year and they still fucked it up.

What pissed me off as well is they removed the dark side aura shown in the early trailers and put this nauseating red flickering effect that gave people headaches.

i only have it at 50 but i quite like it

>healer getting the lockout
>tank using this window to bail and rejoin the dungeon instantly
Healers are the easiest to trigger.
They're also more entitled than tanks these days.

>when they get you killed
I know this image is a joke but this is the mindset of a healer. Nothing is ever their fault and they'll hastily shift the blame onto anyone else.

I bet you're the type who doesn't remember songs unless you hear them a million times.

The open world area music in FF14 tends not to be particularly memorable(with exceptions). The masterpieces are found mostly in trials, raids and some dungeons, and aren't heard often unless you farm them.

One of the best songs in the game plays only in the Praetorium dungeon which most players at this point only get to do once, without even hearing half of the 7 minute long track because the lack of item level sync makes the dungeon a speedrun where the music is constantly interrupted by 10 second boss fights, and those boss fights ALSO have some of the best music in the game, which is ALSO never heard in full because they die so fast.

Because it's mostly true, especially in roulette scenarios. Not in 24 man "raids" though.

You can't vaguely generalise shit like that

I've seen more healers ham shit up than tanks, and I've seen tanks that don't say anything about it until the run has finished.
Meanwhile you got some passive aggressive angry healer doing a shit job because they're pissed about feefees and someone dying while they were spamming holy.

Azys Lla has a good theme.
Foundation is pretty good.
But yeah most of the music in this game is garbage and they'd do well to recycle more old themes.
A majority of the playerbase would still probably not recognize it.

>Why do people even bother?
The EX primal fights are really, really good (as were the raids until Heavensward).
The problem is the primal iLv requirements are prohibitive nowadays, and to meet them you have to be iLv capped at the time of their introduction; and to either have a static waiting in the wings, or to be there patch day-1 to group up with competent PUGs. Couple this with the intermediate welfare upgrade materials they introduced with SCoB and the fact (sands and oil) which mandate you spam hunts or the horrendously repetitive 24-mans, and the fact they reduced the number of tomestone farm dungeons from 3 to 2, the game turns into a highly tedious and wholly unfulfilling mess that'll cause burn-out in all but the most hardcore poopsocking raiders or the most lackadaisical of casuals.

Here's what happened to me with 3.3:
>Wanted to learn Nidhogg EX
>There was nothing worth bothering with in 2.2, so my gear is iLv 200ish
>spend the first few weekdays gearing to 220 via Alex Midas
>COMPETENT PLAYERS ALREADY GOT THEIR CLEARS LOL
>cue 2.5 weeks of wiping over and over to Fang and Claw/Dragonfire Dive
>get my clear at the 3 weekish mark
>farm parties at this point are horrendous and I give up with only 2 horde tokens
I question why I haven't sold my account yet.
Either you're at max iLv from welfare gear before the patch, or you may as well unsubscribe and start gearing for the next one.

>tfw

I hate it so much.

>oh yes,LET THE BOSS CLEAVE ME

This happens too often.

>mfw lahabrea

I just bought the game. Which eu server would you recommend? Preferably with friendly easygoing population.
Is astrologist capable of soloing all story related quests?

>The open world area music in FF14 tends not to be particularly memorable(with exceptions).

Here you find what issue I have with FFXIV's bgm, overworld music tends to be dull or even annoying at times. It doesn't come close to most FFXI areas.

And, like you said, what outstanding music it does have are in instances and you don't get to hear them enough.

Odin is really reliable for everything: Friendly, raiding, crafting and english speaking.

Stories like this want to make me cancel sub. Nothing is worse than starting a MMO late and doing everything the best you can but getting stuck with second rate people because you didn't poopsock the game.

I feel like this is a case of nostalgia. I've heard a few XI themes and the most I can say about them is "serviceable."

You can just ask your FC for assistance.
If you want to pug it the best time will always be 1 month after patch, but you can still pug it for sure. If you want 1 patch after when it gets added to duty finder, it gets way easier though.

Odin is pretty good, but it's full, so you'll have to make your character at 3 AM to get there.
You can only switch to Astrologian at level 50 after you've finished the pre-Heavensward story, but when you get it you can easily do the rest of the story by just playing it.
I suggest starting as Conjurer or Thaumaturge, because you'd get important cross-class skills for Astrologian

Just got finished playing this game for the night. I love it so far. I'm just about to finish 2.2 of the quests between the main story and HW and I'm very excited to get to HW.

Anyone who complains about the GCD is a retard looking for something to hate and be contrarian about. This is easily one of the best MMOs out there right now.

It also depends heavily on server, I was on Ultros for a while and it has some of the worst PUGs I've encountered in the game.

I love this game, I wish people would be more positive about it. Combat is really good at 60 (But pretty bad before), trials are constantly fun, raiding was shakey in Gordias and is really good now, crafting is so involved and the OST is so good.

Thanks guys! Odin it is.

>New trial/dungeon from main scenario
>"Hey guys, first time"
>The other fuckers get bonus
>Watching the cutscene before it starts
>"Skip the cutscene plz"

Wow, I'm paying 13 bucks a month to play this shit and I'm gonna watch my fucking cut-scenes for the first time you cuck.

Hope you have a good time! Don't play Gladiator as your first class!

How much you feel the long GCD depends on your class. Some classes like Warrior are heavily bound to it because they don't have as many off-gcds that deal damage, others like Dragoon require you to double-weave them in your opener because there's so many, which can be a big problem if you are playing on high latency.

>whms who don't raise, bards forgetting they have mage's ballad
Aka mix healer mistakes skills.

So I keep hearing shit about this Odin statue but I can't find it anywhere. Is it not released yet? Have they given a date for when it will be?

The great thing about maining a tank is that most of the time they are forced to wait on you.

The game gives you a catchup patch every other patch to give you the equivalent to the best gear from the last one. Gearing is no excuse. Secondly its his own fault for not making an attempt to join a static/FC. Dont act like they're literally all full and not recruiting. People just dont try hard enough these days to connect and put themselves out there.

My server is pretty good for pugging but I do sometimes experience the horror in our friends the FR community.

Impatient cunts can get fucked. Thankfully on The Praetorium, everyone moves ahead anyway so you can watch the cutscenes in peace (though you won't be fighting anything until Ultima Weapon pt 2).

I'm a tank too, btw, my first time on the last two dungeons in ARR was so shitty and speedran that I got another friend to be Warrior and Tank together, do that dungeon again with some other 3 friends and watched the shit out of the cutscenes, felt good to spite the fuckers, but some of them were cool with that.

I mean, I get it, the cutscenes there are too long, but you're getting 150 fucking tomestones you nigger, at least wait a bit.

...

I've played a couple classes so far and I've never been bothered by GCD. The game honestly never feels slow to me. If anything, I just remember that this is still an FF game and how much slower combat is in all the active battle system games.

Also, this game wouldnt be nearly the same if it was faster. Monk (which I main) would be a pain in the ass to reposition that quickly, and the game would become too frantic in general.

It was a conscious decision to make overworld music toned down. 1.0 had Nobuo Uematsu's FFXI-style music in the overworld, and they replaced it in ARR for good reason - you don't want to overuse catchy music for when you're just doing chores in the overworld, that shit is better left for when shit is going down.

And like I said, there are exceptions. Heavensward has many locations with kickass music, like the ones you mentioned, and that helps emphasize the coolness of those areas relative to the generic areas in ARR. It's all about having good sound design.

To The Sun (Thanalan theme) is great though.

>tfw my FC actually did a cutscene run for me in my first time in Praetorium a month or so ago

I got to fight all the bosses and everything, while not missing out on the plot. thanks ZR!

>tfw on ultros

fuck

They can beat it without anyway, I watched them and no one complained.

Nobody wants to wait for you to watch cutscenes you can view at the inn at any time.

Yeah, I got to the last boss from Heavensward yesterday, the trial, you know the one, and some fucker told me to skip that cutscene, a fucking scene that lasts just one goddamn minute.

I'm at the endgame dickfuck, enjoy your bonus you entitled neckbeard.

why is it in this community people in dungeon runs wait till before or after the last boss to passive agressively insult each other.

Things like you didnt use x cooldown, learn to y,maybe if z didnt stop pulling aggro

>ZR
Back to the trash where you belong.

>tfw I vote kick new players in Praetorium who watch cutscenes and if it fails I just tell them I had an emergency and AFK so they cant justifiably report me and GMs would turn it down

Thats the trick to bullying groups that wont cooperate. Dont threaten to hold them up. Just make up some serious excuse and alt tab to do something else and make them wait for you to never come back.

I disagree, I think the area tracks contain some of the best pieces of music in the game.

Oakwood
youtube.com/watch?v=U2MZ-67Zwd0&t=2m32s
Sea of Clouds
youtube.com/watch?v=FtBn-OuLhIs
Churning Mists

Amalj'aa quest area
youtube.com/watch?v=Xt-gFNprP1M
Vanu Tribe
youtube.com/watch?v=dTiIsgE38qo

To name a few, all of them are at least far above average

They're probably trying to focus on running the dungeon quickly and smoothly. I know what you're talking about though.

ZR is Sup Forums and reddit, not /vg/.

music is 11/10 and the only thing that keeps me coming back

>implying you'll get banned for doing this

Why even bother making up excuses? Nobody should be watching cutscenes on Praetorium.

Because its when people are most likely to read. I never read chat in dungeons unless the tank/healer flat out stops for whatever reason and is throwing a fit, so if something minor is going wrong I tend to not even notice it.

At the same time its kind of infuriating when you objectively criticize someone and they ignore it.

Considering you can beat Praetorium with like 3 people I don't see why you people care

I've never heard that on my European server. People WILL move ahead without you though.

If you haven't gotten to the first level 50 dungeons yet, be sure not to do them via Duty Finder. Use the Party Finder instead, specify that it's a cutscene run, and get ONE level 60 player to join along with any other newcomers. It's easily soloable, you can just enter as an undersized party, get carried and enjoy the cutscenes and boss visuals. There's always people willing to help out with this.

t lalafell

Should I be singing whenever I can as BRD, or just when it's necessary? i.e. paeon when someone's tp is low, ballad when someone's mp is low, requiem when there's a blm/sch in the party

Oh yeah, after the dungeon or after I kill the boss I can see the scene and spoil any twists during gameplay rather than in the cutscene where it's meant to.

You're fucking cancer.

>t.literal sociopath

Kill yourself. You are worse cancer than shitters who come into ex primals and can't do their basic rotation.

I just finished HW yesterday, only the main story there, not post game, but that's good advice, will do this now for the next ones.

Thanks

>specify that it's a cutscene run
There is even a checkbox for this in the Party Finder, I don't get why people don't use it

How to fix MSQ Roulette:

>Add in Aetherochemical Plant
>Make cutscenes unskippable
>Add in tomes and boost the roulette reward by at least double to compensate for it
>???

paeon is really useful for melee dps during big aoe pulls.

There are no more cases like that, Square Enix learned their lesson after ARR. That's why Heavensward splits up the final dungeon and final boss, for example.

this game is so aesthetic

No im really good at the game. I just expect everyone to put in similar effort.

>day 1 of new content
>put min ilevel synced learning party for nidhogg ex
>nearly 5 hours and no one joined
>put up an ad 'WTS Nidhogg EX kill, 7m each'

well just guess

>Add in Aetherochemical Plant
Please God, I've been getting it in every 60 roulette for the past two weeks
>Make cutscenes unskippable
Holy fuck no

>Everyone should be the same as me, and if they aren't, they're broken
This is actual autism

Why the fuck do you care if the cutscenes are there if you're getting an equivalent amount of tomes or gil for the time spent? Learn the read.

And they put the long-ass cutscenes after you exit the dungeon

>skipping cutscenes mean I'm good
t wowfag lalafell

I've never used PF before but I want to use it to do Coil. Is there etiquette I need to know about? Do you create the duty alongside the party or do you wait until the party is full then create the duty?

Aetherochemical Research Facility is in the level 60 roulette now.

As for the other two, not gonna work. People will be assholes anyway, and forced cutscenes will only make people afk in the dungeon until it's over.

CM and Praetorium need to be turned into single player duties, like those in Heavensward where you're with an NPC party. It'll probably happen for the next expansion.

YO WHERE THEM CACTUARS AT~!

The cutscenes are far more important to the quality of the game experience than being good at the game, you fucking pathetic autist.

It would make already-pretty-long dungeons take hours and I already have four other roulettes to do

Like, if I can make the same amount of tomestones in half the time, why the fuck would I bother?
