I know they were in the Cave of Ordeals. I remember loading an old save after years and stumbling across it once. I was completely confused when I saw them and I can't even remember where else they appeared. The only thing I can think of is I killed them in other places before they could scream.

It does when you can do more complex designs. basic shapes are a nono in modern engines, the bagde of honor of a lazy modeller. The texture on the spider's body looks like a placeholder texture they intended to remove later.

The concept art of OoT was wayyy creepier than the in game art. The in game art was just fucking bland and dumb, even the wind waker version was scarier.
It was a limitation of the time tough.
Wind Waker was slightly upsettling with the flabbering jaw and red eyes.
OoT atleast got the suspense when encountering a bunch and being unable to escape their loud screeches.
It's true tough, it looks like shit as it is presented in game.
