Nintendo have not focused on VR Reality and it will sink their company for it.
everyone else including Google have, even SEGA have VR Reality games, Nintendo will only have a shitty tablet while everyone else is moving into the future.
it's not that it is less powerful that will lag them behind and ultimately doom Nintendo, it is that they have zero (0) plans for the future, they are archaic and without vision.
Eli Bailey
vr games are dead.
Hunter Jenkins
VR is more of a fad. And Nintendo lacks the money and technology to dive into it.
Mason Sanders
Wut. Vr is still expensive, experimental, niche and vague.
They have already stated that when VR becomes viable for a consumer point they will enter that market.
PSVR is not perfected and is more of a prototype than anything else, with barely any games
Brody Roberts
>Nintendo off all game companies refuse do invest in a gimmick. >People criticize Nintendo for it.
Owen Johnson
>VR Reality
Logan Hernandez
it is not a fad it is not a gimmick
unlike waggle sticks, this actually works, it is pathetic atm but it does what it says on the tin, a virtual reality.
Charles Evans
>this actually works It will.
Just ten years from now.
Ian Allen
Switch will be a huge success just because of Nvidia. You have no idea for how long they've wanted to tap into the mainstream console business and Nintendo is the biggest partner they could ever hope to cooperate with. You can bet their massive jewery will push developers to work for the Switch without batting an eye, they won't lose this opportunity no matter what, fat NEETs building their own computers are going too much into AMD these days since their allowances are running out.
Cameron Turner
VR is another overhyped soon to b be failed and forgoten gimmick like 3D was. They learned their lesson
Caleb Jenkins
It's way too soon for consoles for VR, it's too power consuming, it's too expensive and as it's first gen of headsets, they will become obsolete once games are starting to come out. 1080p is seriously not enough for VR.
Anthony Hughes
they tried VR with the virtual boy. it tanked it didn't sell then and it won't sell now
Aaron Scott
>Waggle sticks don't work They worked great, it's like you didn't play Wii Sports. But yes, the fad died with the Wii Still, gyro based motion controls are pretty good if well implemented.
Gavin Roberts
just because it works doesn't mean it isn't a gimmick. also the difference between VR and waggle is people bought waggle in droves.
Ayden Walker
>VR EWWwwwww
Evan Powell
>VR fuck off
Jackson Johnson
This. Cheap VR like the psvr barely works in comparison to a vive. Its tracking isn't nearly as good.
Don't forget that nintendos game development won't be split between handheld and console as well.
Zachary King
I'm a huge VR nerd and have been for years now. I think it's incredible and the tech is going to explode and become a common fixture in the average person's life. I'm all in.
That said, I still enjoy playing traditional games just as much as I did before and there is room in the world for both. Film didn't kill photography and photography didn't kill painting.
Robert Kelly
I'm still going to get a switch, but honestly I cant wait until nintendo becomes a 3rd party company. Japs just can't into technology anymore.
Jose Price
Remember how 3D was heralded as the future of television and cinema, like, in three different times, and it didn't happen, even though this last one seemed like it was for real? Yeah, same will happen with VR.
Liam Gray
>falling for the VR meme
Carter Green
I don't think VR is just some meme like a lot of people on Sup Forums seem to but currently it is nothing that great. It will take some time for VR to really get somewhere and I don't think anything is wrong with not wanting to immediately jump on the bandwagon. Also >Virtual boy
Jace Sanchez
No one gives a shit about VR.
Ayden Myers
VR games dies in the 90s the reboot now is much like when old dead trends reboot and a few suckers jump on before it dies again
Nolan Thompson
Pretty sure Nintendo has the right idea to look into AR more than VR
Ryder Cooper
>VR >Not a gimmick
Grayson Foster
The thing about VR is that it's pointless if it's pornless.
Robert Price
The VR tech is ALMOST there. Also probably the New Switch XL will support it.
Matthew Gomez
>Vr is still expensive, experimental, niche and vague. This. The fact that headsets are more expensive than the systems you play them on means that they will only cater to those with money to burn. Realistically, Nintendo are playing it safe by not focusing on a risky gimmick this time around.
Landon Baker
Reminder that AR will be the mainstream advancement in media and VR will be regulated to a gimmick for the basement-dwellers. >With my new AR glasses, I can check my facebook/twitter/whatever social media kids use these days while walking down the street! You don't have to be a phone zombie anymore! >I sure like playing candy crush while waiting in line to renew my license plates on my trendy new AR glasses! >AR glasses, I feel like Thai food right now, bring up google maps and show me nearby Thai places! Oh look, there's one two blocks away, awesome!
Hunter Gomez
Waggle worked much better than "VR" aka two phone screens taped to your head + waggle.
Oliver Allen
AR most likely works for porn as well. "Hey look! its braixen in YOUR room! be careful to not burn yourself!"
Angel Johnson
Doubtful. Of all the retards I know that bought it exactly 0 are still playing anything. Within two weeks everyone was back to Overwatch.
Jack Ward
>Nintendo is the biggest partner they could ever hope to cooperate with They were linked up with two other console platforms that were bigger and more consistent than Nintendo in the two previous generations. Their track record with those two platforms led to them being completely frozen out of even consideration for future projects.
They didn't really have any other choice but Nintendo if they wanted to get back into the console business and Nintendo wasn't going to be able to get AMD to take a loss supplying chips/support after the awful sales the Wii U put up.
Ian Sanchez

You know that all they need to do is to make a headset you plug the switch in it with a couple of lenses, right? Just like all those phone VR headsets.
Tyler Gonzalez
>Nintendo does VR GIMMICK GIMMICK GIMMICK!
>Sony does VR Thank you based Japanese gods.
Hudson Diaz
Actually, thinking a bit better about this, all the design makes sense now. >removable controllers are basically cheap knock offs of the vive controllers >the system itself will get at potentially PSVR levels if it features a 1080p screen (which would fall in line with the delay due VR rumors) >its basically the most powerful portable on the planet due not being crippled by Open GL ES2.0
Basically nintendo can offer THE cheapest, cable free VR solution. period.
Add 100$ for the stand and lenses and that's fucking it.
They can even call the sega marketeers from the 90's to mock the cables on vive/oculus/psvr.
Carson Miller
VR is an absolute joke
Jacob Evans
VR is a joke.
Why would I want a fucking screen right against my eyes
Dominic Reed
the boomers have lied to you. it actually gives you powers, and is not harming your eyes.
William Mitchell
HHAAHAHAAHHAHAH ARE YOU RETARDED LOLOLO HAAHAHA??!!?!?!?!!?!?!? VEE ARRE ISS FUCKING RTRASSHH JUST GOO DIE RIGHT NOW PLEASE HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA

>it's not that it is less powerful that will lag them behind and ultimately doom Nintendo, it is that they have zero (0) plans for the future, they are archaic and without vision
don't worry it'll have pokemon
Connor Butler
That would be the stroke of a genius. But the tablet is not powerful enough to render anything worthwhile.
Joseph Lewis
It's not even VR, it's strapping a screen to your face. Also with the size of the switch screen I will be surprised if they don't strap that screen to your face with some kind of add-on just to pull in fad cash too.
Jace Baker
It is considerably more powerful than the phones doing the same thing. With a decent API as it have, it can for example render to multiple frame buffers at once, halving the vertex weight while rendering VR for example.
Nathaniel White

>no vr Smart. Because VR is a stupid fad that will die out very soon and every single one of you shitheaded children will pretend you never liked it and laugh at any notion that it was ever good while secretly being ashamed at thinking it would be anything but a fucking dumb, useless gimmick.
Samuel Barnes
This is misleading. The Virtual Boy wasn't VR. It was stereoscopic 3D being advertised as VR. Not to mention the whole red color thing. It was too ambitious for the time it was released. Still had some great games, though.
I don't have VR, but I use NVidia 3DVision on a 55" 4K TV (can't run in 4K, though). It isn't really supported by NVidia or devs anymore (Mankind Divided has been the only game recently), but there's a community that usually mods popular games to support it.
Anyway, my point is that even though it's a pain in the ass to get working, it's fucking awesome, and close enough to VR that I don't feel the need to spend 800 fucking dollars for a VIVE.
Caleb Rodriguez
dude nintendo making iPhone games now. They long dead son.
Adrian Murphy
>NVidia 3DVision >It isn't really supported by NVidia or devs anymore Like with all fads. VR will face the same fate.
Nicholas Powell
I agree, but 3DV is more than a fad. Just because it didn't catch on (at the start you needed an expensive 3D monitor and a $150 glasses kit) doesn't mean it isn't great tech. Like I won't buy PC games unless they support it or get modded. It's that immersive. And now all you need is a 3D TV and a very little time and patience to make it work. And as stated, most of the big games get supported through the community, so it isn't like VR where games NEED to be made around it. It helps when they are, but if not, the community just does it anyway.
If you have the means, I highly recommend it.
Logan Reyes
>Just because it didn't catch on Of course it didn't. That's what makes it a fad. Nobody is going to wear heavy shutter glasses for gaming.
Dylan Evans
vr is shill territory, and companies are dropping like flies because of it. Too many barriers of entry, and at current point has too little of a niche market to really validate any minimum success it may have. You are retarded, learn economics.
Landon Cook
I hate nintendo as much as the next msn but its probably a good thing they didnt, once the novelty of vr wears off itll go the way of motion controls
Benjamin Howard
For all the people saying VR is a gimmick, I wonder how mAny have used an actual VR setup (I.e. More than just a phone screen, where you can see your controllers etc.)
Before using one I thought it would be a gimmick, but I was shocked at how much more immersive it makes the game. In 5-10 years these will be massive, it's not just like 3D
Gavin Williams
vr is a meme just like motion controls were
Parker Harris
>VR
Who?
Oh, that thing that came and went and nobody talks about ita nymore? What about it?
Brandon Hughes
I thought this was gonna be a Switch thread. Fuck you and your shitty gimmicks. >gimmicks are ok when Nintendo isn't making them No, seriously, fuck you.
Adrian Davis
I have. It's a fucking gimmick. And 5-10 years won't solve the movement problems.
Joshua Edwards
I have. My brother got the PSVR and although it was really cool at first I DEFINITELY wouldn't buy it. After you get over the honeymoon phase all you get is an overpriced gimmick with shit resolution
Joseph Wood
Bro eyes are just strapping 2 screens to your face
Hunter Wright
The Vive is fucking awesome, when it's really good and immersive, it's an experience unlike any other.
John Mitchell
No doubt. Still way too expensive, and this is coming from someone who makes a good amount of money.
Austin Brooks
It's expensive, but it really is amazing to use. I'm always surprised when v hates on VR because even bad games on the vibe are fun because of how immersive they ate
Jordan Bailey
i bet you don't even get paid for posts like this
Chase Anderson
Most of Sup Forums just hates on it because they can't afford it. I can't afford one either, but as the 3DVision guy I would love to get a Vive because I have an idea of what it can bring.
Also : For one, the shutter glasses aren't heavy. I've worn them for hours with no problems.
Second, and this was my entire point, if you already have a 3DTV, you can use the passive glasses that came with it (or ones you get at a movie theater) which weigh less than normal or the same as glasses. I don't use the shutters or my 3D monitor anymore.
Kayden Gonzalez
VR is too expensive, too new, and too niche to make any sort of actual big impact on gaming right now. The only reason people are as aware as they are of stuff like the Vive is because of e-celebs playing tech demos like Job Simulator.
John Edwards
they aren't heavy but they are cumbersome and they block the outside world - just another reason people find it unattractive. saying people can't afford it isn't an argument. i bet people would buy it if it was more than just a gimmick. it's something people would rather experience once, or occasionally.
Bentley Price
vr is a meme
Ryder Rivera
How well did PSVR sell? How well did all the other VR sets sell? Yeah, exactly.
Jack Foster
>they block the outside world That's... that's the point.
Brody Mitchell
VR is still too expensive for how shallow the current experiences it provides are.
Sebastian Sanchez
Sold out everywhere sans a non-bundle SKU popping up here or there
Juan Martin
>strap screen to my face >can't move have to play on rails or teleport >will get motion sickness
wooooooooow
Lincoln Gonzalez
Sales numbers? Sold out means nothing if the stock is microscopic.
Charles Bell
VR is a waste of money for idiots with too much money so they can go brag to their friends about how awesome this 800 dollar device is that they never use. i have 3 friends with VR none of them use it.
Noah Jenkins
The graphics aren't the best and the Move controllers are okay, but the head tracking is perfect on the PSVR. KYS.
SOURCE: I have a PSVR. It was a hit at my last party.
Owen Gomez
ya exactly vr is fucking awful its not vr at all. its a monitor strapped to ur fucking head and nothing more
Jackson Parker
Can't wait for the reports of people getting robbed while playing VR. Oh wait this will never happen because VR is a flop.
Lincoln Watson
VR IS waggle. Except the VR part doesn't work well and adds nothing. At least waggle worked.
Logan Flores
>But the tablet is not powerful enough to render anything worthwhile It's more powerful than the WiiU, so I don't see why not. Did people like you just not see how games looked before the PS4?
Landon Turner
Everything is a hit at a party.
Lincoln White
How can something that's by nature single player work at a party? Like do people enjoy standing there watching someone else play games with the VR set?
Easton Foster
I have no idea, man.
It was sold out and that's all I know. I have no idea how many units were shipped, but I'd guess that Sony sent out a decent amount due to the hype (normie) and with all of them being sold out should mean good sales. Bundles were $500 USD, regulars were $400. That's some good money for Sony.
Logan Walker
PSVR shows what the player sees on a TV. Most people played the Until Dawn rollercoaster shooter and loved it. Reactions of people shitting their pants is great too.
Looks gay 2D, but with it being VR it can make the most jaded person jump and yelp. Games/movies don't scare me, but I can't play the game alone. The VR aspect really sells it.
Bentley James
Please, if it really sold well Sony would have posted the numbers to brag like they've been doing with the PS4. I mean fuck, I didn't even know it had come out because I was expecting tons of threads here on launch day and instead I got nothing.
Jack Sanchez
Sorry?
Owen Myers
VR is a fad. No matter how much people try to say otherwise, it will never catch on with the mainstream, especially not as expensive and limited as it is right now.
No one wants or is able to drop $600 on a headset with no real games to offer.
Nolan Reed
Yeah, most people who "hate" it probably haven't even tried it because they're poorfags who can't afford it.
Definitely too expensive to have much market penetration right now, without a doubt. Plus the games available right now aren't really much to talk about. I don't regret my purchase though, even though I've only played a handful of games so far and only a couple have really blown me away.
Ryder Nelson
not really, I read that the Switch could have VR-support sometimes in the future. But there is no official plans.
Jaxson Long
Holy fuck, do VR shills still exist? Most VR headshits have barley sold more than a few hundred thousand.
Hell, HTC still hasn't released sales figures.
The only moderately successful VR headseti s the Samsung Gear VR.
Jeremiah Brown
VR is a shitty gimmick not even 0.001% of people care about.
Come back in 20 years when VR is actually good.
