no :^)

Show me a statistic where piracy negatively affects sales. You literally can't.

Look at pc sales compared to console sales

psp

>morality
>legality
>entitled
Nice spooks nerd.

>Video game piracy is not only morally wrong, it is illegal.

I know, but I don't care.

This is why your daughter doesn't love you Mrs Jones

The only time piracy is okay is when the game is from a company well-known for producing shit. Pirating from respectable companies just makes you a child trying to justify not spending your goodboy points from mommy.

>buy game from company
>copy starts to wear down from use
>even though it clearly says in the manual that I can have one copy as a backup, it's still apparently "illegal" to even own a copy, even if you made it yourself

The law is screwed up.

Interesting, interesting. On the other hand, death to the bourgeoisie.

So is Baiting and Switching. Fuck demos.

As of Brutal Legend, piracy is justified up to a small time period, where you can determine whether the game is a fit for you or not.
As is any emulation, archival, etc.

Piratefags will never be able to say a proper rebuttal for this because there isn't one. It is illegal and morally wrong and all they will do is act like because they're disgusting thieves that don't want to admit the truth.

At least they're not samefagging samefag faggots.

>morally wrong
who are you to decide what's morally right?

this is why games should offer free demos

>it is illegal
huuuuuh
no it isn't
not in my country anyway

I've never once raided a ship at sea and taken video games under threat of violence.

society determines morality
majority of society has typically determined that stealing is morally wrong
piracy is stealing

ergo, piracy is morally wrong

>"Piracy is wrong user!"
>"Yes, I only buy used games. Why do you ask?"
:^)

>piratefags mock people for buying the game
>if everyone became a piratefag gaming companies would go broke or stop making games as theyll lose a profit

I get kids whose parent won't buy them games and and people who don't have the money
but other than that...

Sup Forums is populated by underage poorfags. Just look at the recent steam code giveaqay threads.

500+replies with everyone begging like starving africans.

You should just laugh at them while they destroy their platform

>and people who don't have the money
Why else would you take the risk of pirating something unless you didn't have the money to buy it?

as soon as developers stop releasing incomplete, barely functional games with 8 gig day 1 patches and dlc, i will stop pirating

The best pirate's fallacy is when they don't see how they're hurting the devs and think piracy is beneficial.

>cool game is released
>buying it shows interest in genre/setting/dev Team
>I should pirate it and ensure less of this is made!

The only argument against piracy that ever got me, and made me feel really uncomfortable about it, was this one.

No amount of moral, legal, or whatever else would ever make me feel this bad about piracy.

You're forgetting the fact that pirate fags literally give no fucks.
Your little tantrum about morals and entitlement ain't gonna bring any justice, piratefags are well aware of way they're doing.
There is no justification needed because they don't care about justification.
The only way to put up with other people pirating is, well, to just deal with it.

That's retarded though. The only reason I pirate is because I don't have a good enough job yet to afford nice things. At the end of the day I have a roof over my head and food, and that's really all I can afford right now.
I would buy all of the games I have pirated if I were to get a raise, or a better job.

Communism is fucking great, though.

>thieves
If nothing is being stolen, is it still theft?

It is not morally wrong. It's only illegal so companies can make money, but there is literally nothing wrong with making a copy of something someone else owns. If I go outside right now, and someone sees my shirt and likes it and so they make a copy of it, it is not morally wrong, nor do I care about it.

...

name ONE downside to free games

THAT'S RIGHT, you CAN'T

I'm not entitled. I know that it's wrong, I just don't give a shit.

Don't care. If the punishment for physical stealing wasn't as harsh as it is I'd steal everything I could get my hands on.
Can't beat free stuff.

Aw, come on. All the cool kids are seizing the means of production. You're not a chicken, are you?

Anything worth pirating isn't worth playing.

The only exception is something that is literally not available through realistic means, like something that's been removed from stores and costs a thousand burgers used.

It's not wrong though, unless you are actually making a profit by selling copies of it. If you just download something off the internet to use it yourself, it's called sharing, but jews want you to think otherwise, they want to make it seem like it's a crime to guilt you into giving them shekels for overpriced crap.

I'd say you're the entitled one for being put under the impression that people give a shit what you think.
Faggot.

"I hate Jews and don't want to admit that I'm depriving people of their hard earned money"

Grow up and admit that you're a piece of shit.

Get this shit off my face, you filthy scum.

>Video game piracy
Sharing, not piracy.
>morally wrong
According to what moral authority?
>it is illegal
So are chocolate eggs with toys in them.
>Stop being entitled
I'll stop when publishers stop.

>he's against making a duplicate

>depriving people of their hard earned money
How do you deprive someone of their hard earned money without taking anything away from them?

read the reply chain

your excuse was already covered

also someome who can afford a gaming pc can also afford games

I got this PC as a present.

It's like abortion: there's literally no difference between the potential and the actual. I imagine a sale happened, so it did, and since it didn't, you're stealing.

>need to buy right to use software
>download software illegally and use software without the right to do so

>need ticket to ride train
>go on train without ticket

lmoa

Because it's a service they put effort into. You're receiving free entertainment for a service that otherwise should be payed for.

Ohhhhh, I bet you wouldn't say that if the economic ruling class was squatting over your face and laying some soft-serve all over your lips like they've done literally every day of your life. You'd probably be like, "I deserve this because I don't work hard enough!" or "I'm totally going to blame impoverished black people for this!"

then ask for games as presents

Call them entitled but they'll still do it.

Sup Forums loves free shit and will want free shit for as long as it lasts.

I don't like piratefags because I think they're self-centered, but they clearly don't give a shit.

I am fine with them so long as they don't peddle the "OH LOL UMAD WAGEKUCK I PIRATE EVRYTHING BECAUSE I'M COOL XD" paradigm. Christ, you're not that special for taking shit for free.

I'm not gonna pay those ridiculous costs for physical copies of snes games.
Why the fuck would I pay more than $10 for any PC game that came out before 2006?
Why would anyone be stupid enough to actually buy a copy of Skyrim, Fallout 4, Doom 4, Mankind divided, or the rebooted tomb raider games?

>morally wrong
Making shit games is morally wrong too.
And nobody fucking cares.

t. mad wagecuck

You're actually costing the rail more in fuel costs, wear and tear, etc. You aren't costing a publisher anything by downloading a game.
A more apt comparison:
>need ticket to ride train
>bum ride off stranger instead
>have to pay train company for "lost sale"

Good going Sup Forums

>need to buy right to use software
>Need to buy the right to lay your eyes wherever you want

Nice joke.

>It's like abortion
No, no, no. It's NOT like an abortion.

Once you flush out a baby, the original won't be there anymore to be born later on.

>there's literally no difference between the potential and the actual
Except, there is. "Potential" is a mere estimate, a wild guess, an idea; "actual" is concrete, it happened. You are twisting estimations with reality here, that's a infant's mistake.

>I imagine a sale happened
Ok.
>so it did
No. That's not how sales happen.
>and since it didn't
Ok.
>you're stealing
Again, for something to be qualified as theft someone must LOSE something, correct? If no one is losing anything, there's no theft. Done. You're wrong. Case closed.

>old games
ok

>new games
Why do people pirate them when they're so bad?

Go pirate your shit but don't say you're so much more enlightened than the masses

>Work tirelessly for years on a project
>Deal with shit hours, low pay and poor health
>Finally release a game you are proud of
>People download it without paying
>Your company goes bankrupt
>You are now broke and poor
>The girl who got away will never speak to you again

>video game
>service
The only services you get from a video game are online play with dedicated servers, and official support when the game doesn't work. Pirated copies have neither.

>obvious inferiority complex

Guys, guys. Not cool. Americans are very sensitive about their intelligence.

Eithet you have no idea about the law or live in a shitty 3rd world country. what do you think you acquire when you buy a game?

A license to use it.

But piratefags being stupid or delusional is nothing new.

>Why the fuck would I
That's right. You should get everything you want when you want it. Who cares if people's livelihoods are at stake? You shouldn't have to pay.

>missing the point

>replying to obvious sarcasm
Is it summer already?

If the game is good and the devs deserve the support, i'll buy it.

I can afford to buy games but choose not to
Why would anyone turn down free shit? Morals? C'mon now

>Why would anyone be stupid enough to actually buy a copy of Skyrim, Fallout 4
Take that back right now.
This is your only warning.

You didn't make one broski

A train ride requires fuel, and it also has a limited amount of space to which it can carry people around. If you board a train without a ticket, you are taking a space, and using up fuel, from somebody else, therefore it could be considered objectionable.

If you just need to use a software, on the other hand, you can simply make it up out of thin air, from within your own home, without ever stealing, using up, or even taking anything away from anybody else.

You just used a false-equivalency there, my friend. Therefore you are wrong.

Obviously what I said went over your head. The point was that it's ridiculous to have to buy the right to lay your eyes where you want, and there's nothing morally wrong about doing so. Obviously piracy is illegal, your point was that it was morally wrong.

>mfw I thought the edge of the knife was on the other side

>Movies
>Pay before you watch
>Food
>Pay before you eat
>House
>Pay before you move in
>Video Games
>I'd like to determine if I want to pay for it by using it for free as long as I'd like ;)

b-but australian pricetags...

Your illegally obtaining a game that should have been paid for. Effort was made for the game to be made so that others who buy it can enjoy it.

>Movies
Pirating movies is fine.

>Food
That's stealing.

>House
That's stealing.

>Video Games
Pirating video games is fine.

>AAA companies go out of business

Still not seeing the downside.

>house
>moving in means noone else can
>food
>eating it means noone else can eat it
>movies
>implying

Can somebody point me to a time where a company went bankrupt due to piracy who didn't deserve it?

>movie pirating doesn't exist
okay bucko, whatever fuels your shitty argument

>millions lose their jobs
Of course you don't, you're a filthy neet

You mean you're copying a game and therefore have no obligation to pay.

>pirating games = looking at pixels

If mental gymnastics made you actually fit you could win the Olympics

I really like how this demonstrates that the purpose of law is purely to protect the profits of corporations. Good job on this pic, user.

It's not a service though, since there's no one actually doing any work for me to make use of this stream of data running through a computer. No service is being provided by anyone. If I were to be using something directly from someone who's actually dedicating any sort of effort in order for me to experience it, then it could be something objectionable, since there are no humans involved providing any service, no objectionable action is being committed, therefore you're wrong.

>Don't have license to drive
>Get arrested
>Don't have license to play a game
>Get arrested
It is simple. Only people who pirate are children or poor people, usually a mixture of both.

this

>millions lose their jobs
>unemployment skyrockets
>mass realization that capitalism is bullshit
>socialist revolution

Nope, still not seeing the downside.

>piracy is bad but reselling physical copies isn't
Please explain, you can't though.

Yes it is the same.

You're starting to make me feel nauseous just by reading that.

Nauseated

>morals

The people who put effort to make the game is the service. You are obtaining entertainment that otherwise should be paid for.

I don't understand what's wrong with pirating. Breaking the law is not wrong.
