Not my favorite instrument, but castanets/acoustic guitars are seriously underrated
Flamenco battle themes are the best

Cello has my favorite timbre but I played clarinet in high school so I'll say that's my favorite instrument
I'm sure I've heard some songs use a clarinet in vidya but I can't recall any off the top of my head
I really like woodwind instruments, especially the deeper ones. I think the Monkey Island series used them really well:

I've never played that game but that is a very nice piece of music.
Neither have I

I'm a sucker for strong percussion.
"The dream of flight" should be "Il sogno del volo"; "Sogno di volare" means "I dream of flying".
Need more games with saxophones

I absolutely adore this, it really have this feeling of resignation, which fits perfectly for the world of dark souls.

remembers quite a lot to roxas imho and have this sadness in it, which fits exactly to her
not orchestral

Both have a great sense of loneliness and horror.
Also not vidya related but this:

Fuck man this song has so many emotions, literally beginning slowly, the part where you can have fun, then the end part where the fun becomes chaotic and sad.
>King of Fighters
All those Arashi no Saxophone tracks are pretty top notch.

I don't know what instrument it is but it's at 3:25. Yuki Kajiura uses it a lot.
I play clarinet as well and the only vidya song I know off the top of my head that uses a clarinet is this at around 30 secs
I love the harp but i don't know any soundtracks that use it largely. I must be playing the wrong kind of games
TROMBONE ANYONE?
BLASTS AND SLURS
Just add the whole strings and brass section together.
That's a violin doing it's best to sound like a bagpipe I think
Some fantasy games use the harp. Can't think of any atm but that's the genre it'd be in
>Flamenco battle themes are the best
You my guy
Easy vidya piano tracks to learn?
I don't care much about the game but the only song ever to feature a jew harp and a hurdy gurdy. Find me another song with just one of those and I'd be a happy man.
>I don't know what instrument it is
>Yuki Kajiura
She only uses 4 instruments total for everything.
Dunno what those instruments sound like but if one of them does the twong sound then here you go
youtu.be
Yeah the twangs are the jew harp. The melody of the song I posted is an accordion and the long drawn low windy sound is a hurdy gurdy.
>I love the harp but i don't know any soundtracks that use it largely.
Harps usually get lost in a large orchestra. As you can see from this song that uses it a lot. Orchestras also can have the strings simulate a harp with plucking (as this song also shows).
>google jew harp
>it's real
wtf
I really like the plucking sound that starts at 0:57. I have no idea if it's some exotic instrument or if it's just the way it's being played:

Just sounds like synth. Using a combination of toy piano and steel drums with a reverb effect.
>that first track
It was originally called a jew harp because only a jew would pay for one string. It's now called a mouth harp if you're a faggot.
Not the base layer of the track, I mean the thing that starts a minute in, surely that's not a synthetic sound?
Sounds like computer generated harp.
I was talking about the part that starts at 0:57. It sounds like synth to me.

I like strong snare cadences.

If that's the case then I'm impressed, it sounds way more inconsistent and imperfect than I ever would have guessed from a synth.
