Because the Punch-Out characters are boring. The ARMS fighters are infinitely more charming

Punch Out characters don't have stretchy arms. Shoehorning stretchy arms onto Punch Out characters would be stupid, and ditching stretchy arms would defeat the point since it's the defining feature.

More mid-sized fighters. Got the chance to play the game, fighters are either light or heavy, with not a lot of in-between. Even springman felt too light for his supposed "jack of all trades" niche.
