This, and not just because of the romance. We could have gotten Shulk undergo a full character arc where he has to learn to let go of his desire for revenge and his hate for the Mechon, accepting that he can't bring Fiora back and moving on with his life. Instead he just finds out she's alive and thus he has no reason to hate the mechon anymore. It was a sort of negative character development, not to mention extremely cliche.

Nevermind staying dead, Fiora should've died at the end. They set up an entire subplot where she was going to run out of power and it got magically fixed by offscreen bullshit for no reason.

The game was so good about foreshadowing all throughout and then it drops the ball right at the very end when it would've given Melia the remote chance of happiness because Melia is not allowed to have nice things. Fuck this game.
