What do you guys actually think about this? Is this gonna kill Xbox?
Project Scorpio
xbox brand is already dead user
It may be slightly more powerful than the PS4 pro but it won't be game changing
At least its better than ps4 pro
The price will be deciding factor. If it's good enough, they might get back the multiplatform focus along with the casual/normie playerbase. If it's too high, then Xbox is dead.
It will never actually come out, the Xbox division will be shut down soon.
$400 likely
A slightly better 4K-but-not-really machine, great.
Damn how do you know that? Your dad works at nintendo?
That cancelled game with the dragon killed the xbox
They advertised it as an upgrade to the current console instead of as a new console. It's literally the wiiu of Microsoft.
TOP KEK
Yet advertised as significantly more powerful. The Wii-u was pretty weak still even compared to the Wii
''slightly''
>literally 5 times stronger than ps4 ''pro'' scam
This is retarded, you can't play Wii U games on a Wii. Scorpio is equivalent of the PS4 Pro.
Anything above $300 is too much. The pro will be $350 by the time the scorpio comes out, and they'll have to deal with the backfire of them claiming it's a "mid generation upgrade" and not a new console gen, which scorpio is absolutely an attempt to create.
But those are both really generous estimates. I fully expect a price point of $499 at launch, with nothing but xbone ports upscaled to sustain it till games created for it start releasing.
>literally 5 times stronger
>Still has trouble achieving ACTUAL 4k and has to use checkerboarding
Yeah ok.
Its not 5x anything, its a bit better than the pro. It wont run any game native 4k 60fps uncompromised. Its very simple if you want graphics get a pc, if you want quality you have to pay for it.
The brand is dead, that's all there is to it.
If they had any confidence in the Xbox ecosystem they wouldn't keep spamming me with emails promoting "play anywhere" games, as if being able to play Xbox games on Windows 10 is a cool feature and not a desperate plea for help.
Anyone who pays 500 for a console is a fucking retard, though I think similar things about most console gamers these days with pc gaming being so accessible compared to the past
Same shit as the pro but without games.
>implying pro has games
I'm playing one right now though.
>without games.
>what is Halo, Gears and Forza?
That's all i care about.
*Also on PC
So it wont keep being able to do 1080p 60fps before it's even a year old too?
*Windows 10
But anyway what's your point? That i'll enjoy them less because PC players are allowed to play them as well?
What reason is there to get this console if all the games are also on a better platform?
It's actually doing okay.
The Xbone is at around 30 million sold. More than double what the WIIU sold.
>hey guys buy our game, only on Xbox!
>now introducing play anywhere, only on Xbox and Windows 10!
>whoops it ended up on Steam!
Games they said were Xbox exclusive that ended up on Steam:
>Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Quantum Break, Spartan Assault, Spartan Strike, Lococycle
Long time franchises that are now on Windows 10:
>Gears 4, Halo Wars 2, Forza Horizon, Crackdown 3, ReCore, Killer Instinct
What's the point? How can you believe anything MS says when they promise you exclusives so you'll buy their console, and then 6 months later they're all on PC?
You want me to convince you? I don't give a fuck if you buy it or not, i only gave the reasons why i have a xbone and most likely will get the scorpio.
Your reasons were games that aren't exclusive so I still don't know why you'd get an Xbone.
>Games they said were Xbox exclusive that ended up on Steam:
>Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Quantum Break, Spartan Assault, Spartan Strike, Lococycle
Gee look at all those 2013 titles, before W10 and play anywhere was a thing! You certainly BTFO'd me.
>How can you believe anything MS says when they promise you exclusives so you'll buy their console, and then 6 months later they're all on PC?
See this is what really grinds my gears, i still got the game i was promised on my console choice and i'm happy with that. Now please tell me why should i care about and why is it so bad that PC players get to play those games as well?
I think they should have held out.
If they release the Scorpio later this year or early next year, Sony will probably do the ps5 early/late 2019, meaning Xbox will only have maybe a year give or take a few months at being "The most powerful console ever", then ps5 will come in and grab anyone who hasn't bought a scorpio yet as well as all the actual sony fans.
What do you think Scorpios VR will be?
MS will make its own headset which will probably work on both scorpio and PC or do you think they will party with Oculus seeing as they already got something going on?
Because you've paid for this console now when you could have got yourself a gaming PC instead and been able to enjoy all those games there.
>I still don't know why you'd get an Xbone
Ok then, let be elaborate a bit:
>Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable (lol)
>GT, gamerscore and friends
>i like the community and been part of it for 15 years
>realiable online service
>too lazy to build a PC
>prefer consoles over PC in general
microsoft already has their own VR headset. they will probably just have that be compatible with the scorpio.
also, all that "most powerful console" shit is just dumb marketing. its not gonna mean anything because games will still have to be compatible with the xbone. unless microsoft is really fucking stupid and wants to alienate their fanbase.
See >What do you think Scorpios VR will be?
Hopefully nothing, Xbox doesn't need more gimmicks.
Because without exclusives there's no reason for a console to exist, and if there's no reason for the console to exist then there's no reason for you to buy your games on their platform or pay their absurd online fees.
I don't own an Xbox yet I can play all the Xbox games I want in nicer settings, and most importantly without having to pay the Xbox Live subscription fee. I can play Gears, Forza, Crackdown, Halo titles, all without spending a cent on Xbox or Live.
You get an inferior version, with more limitations, that you have to pay MORE to enjoy, and they're lying to you about exclusivity so you'll give them your money before you realize the game is available elsewhere.
There's no benefit for you in this relationship.
>but I like getting fucked in the ass by giant megacorps who lie to me and exploit my brand loyalty to get me to buy products on an inferior platform!
First of all, MS has an AR headset, not a VR one, and if I remember right that was like, $2000 or something.
As for it having to be compatible with xbone, you're confused.
They never said said what this console was, just that it would run xbone games, chances are this could be the Xbone 2, just with backwards compatibility, we don't know that its gonna be a ps4/ps4 pro deal.
Also dumb marketing yes, but dumb marketing that works.
Wait my bad, I missed that $300 MS headset announcement.
>you have to pay MORE to enjoy
Wut? Games on Windows store release at $60 while physical versions are available at $48.
>lying to you about exclusivity
They're pretty open about their play anywhere initiative. They let everyone know when the game will be crossbuy or crossplatform.
>no benefit for you in this relationship
Of course there is. You can get a cheap $250 xbone slim bundle that plays games better than any prebuilt $250 PC can. The console gets physical releases as opposed to PC, which is digital jew central.
Seems like you're more concerned about me than myself for some reason, but don't worry about me, you keep having fun on PC/W10 and i'll keep having fun on my Xbox One Entertainment System.
>we'll bring all our shit on PC
>BUT
>not that one game which is worth your time
You know which ONE
>Games on Windows store release at $60
You have to pay a monthly fee to use the online capabilities, I don't, yet you're the one supporting the brand. How is that fair to you?
>They're pretty open about their play anywhere initiative.
Except when they aren't. Did they announce Quantum Break was coming to Steam when it launched on Xbox One? What about Dead Rising 3? What about Killer Instinct? I don't care about what goes on behind the scenes, I've never seen Mario come to Steam 3 months after releasing on the WiiU, I won't be seeing Horizon or The Last of Us on Steam at any point, this is a problem exclusive to Microsoft.
>You can get a cheap $250 xbone slim
Yeah, now, not when it was $500 and already bleeding exclusives.
Besides I'm not saying "buy a PC", I'm saying "you're getting fucked in the ass and you're defending them for it."
What does your brand loyalty buy you? Not exclusives, that's for sure, not any love from Microsoft when they're selling me a better experience and I couldn't give two shits about their brand.
You mean the best Halo since 2?
You PCFats are all so fucking stupid, it's too bad you can't "overclock" your brain cells
The best Halo is 3.
>halogarbage
Not even close
Because that "monthly fee" is actually a yearly fee of $60. And with that fee I get to download approximately $40 of content every month. It pays for itself in no time. Example: I just downloaded Force Unleashed on xbone for "free" and I get to keep it.
>What about Dead Rising 3? What about Killer Instinct?
These games released on the xbone before Phil Spencer took over the Xbox division and started the play anywhere program.
By all means please keep shitposting. It's saturday and have nothing better to do
Xbox failed in the 8th gen to ps4 so they decide to make the scorpio 9th gen. Whats the point? if it continues to keep bringing out new gens every few years you mays well build a pc.
Might buy if they keep sneering at the japs.
The longer I go without bearing the mark of the sukui-mushugii the better.
If Sony even thinks about the PS5 in 2019 then they will murder their brand. They are stuck with the Pro till at least 2021.
Which would be a relevent statement if Nintendo didn't have the 3DS propping it up. That's the thing, Sony has the PS4, with the Vita dead. Nintendo has the 3DS, with the Wii U dead, hoping the Switch is at least a success, whilst Microsoft has a dying brand.
Xbox is now responsible for the entire gaming portion of Microsoft, not just the console. Any games they sell on the W10 store is a win for Xbox.
You'll even start seeing W10 exclusive games coming from Microsoft soon. Wait for E3
Its an Xbox branded PC
Well now we're getting into semantics, and someone is gonna bring up Steam sales and then someone else is going to bring out a $300 PCpartpicker link with no monitor or peripherals and we're not going to get anywhere.
That isn't my point, this isn't a "PC vs Xbox" argument and I'm not telling you to sell your Xbox One and buy a PC. I'm telling you to demand accountability from Microsoft.
My point is that the company you support and defend is selling a better and cheaper experience with fewer limitations to your competitors, that should make you angry, that should make you demand that they reward your good faith and brand loyalty. They've got their eggs in two baskets when they should be doing their level best to make YOUR experience the best it can be. That's what Nintendo does, that's what Sony does, why doesn't Microsoft? Why do you pay more for less?
When the Xbox One was announced the massive fan backlash forced them to roll back tons of planned features, lack of interest in the Kinect got them to can it and release a cheaper bundle, as a consumer you have the power to influence the decisions they make.
The Xbox brand is dissolving and it's sad that I care more about that than you, who profess to enjoy their console ecosystem.
>any console after the PS3 not charging extra for everything, plus tip.
I'll stick to my computer and my PS3. There is no justifying buying consoles anymore, not even for exclusives, and the libraries on most of them have been garbage "cinema" experience, HD ports, and games designed for expensive DLC fleecing. No thanks.
They'll be fine, the pro will just be seen as a hardware revision.
The absolute latest I see the ps5 coming out is Q1 2020.
But when I say latest I mean SUPER small chance of happening, I think it easily can and will come out before 2020 roles around.
>Godess
>Any games they sell on the W10 store is a win for Xbox.
This is retarded logic. Without exclusives, a console is nothing. People will just play those same games on PC and the Scorpio will sell even less than the latest xbox.
I think Micrococks and Windows are gonna kill Xbone.
The Xbox one was barely ever alive to begin with...
>any Halo game made by 343i
>good
>People will just play those same games on PC
Except the millions of people still playing on xbone.
The millions of people playing both good titles to ever come out on that console.
Well no, nobody will be playing them on PC if they're locked to Windows 10 and the App Store.
I don't understand why Microsoft is alienating console players in favor of a userbase that simply doesn't exist.
My bad! I meant ot say "Best multiplayer since 2"
Yeah I'm almost exclusively a pc gamer(for modern titles, I play lots of old school shit) and I've never used that
>Well no, nobody will be playing them on PC if they're locked to Windows 10 and the App Store.
Oh, wait, you're actually right. If their W10 games are not on Steam, they might as well not even exist.
>YOUR experience the best it can be
Since we're talking about gaming, and the xbone has all the games I'm interested in playing, they all work just fine on the bone, and they all get physical releases for a collectorfag such as myself, I'd say they're going a good job.
>Why do you pay more for less
I'm not paying more and I already explained why in my previous posts.
I wonder if this shit ties into the rumors about future Windows 10 will be able to filter out and lock out pirated games. Sort of like they are turning your PC into a console in regards to games.
You are paying more, you have to pay an online fee, I don't.
I don't care what mental gymnastics you use to justify it, I don't care if they give you free games in exchange for the MANDATORY subscription fee. That's fucking Stockholm syndrome. That's like saying you don't mind being mugged because the mugger gave you a copy of ReCore when he forced you to hand over your wallet.
If you want to access all of the features of Forza or Gears 4, you have to pay $60 for the game, plus the subscription fee, if you want to measure that on a yearly basis, a monthly basis, enjoyment per hour measured in your fucking serotonin levels, I don't fucking care.
I pay $60 for the game, and pay NO FEE to enjoy all of the features. Thus it costs you more, in the short term and in the long term. I'm given a cheaper experience, I'm given more options, more freedom of choice in how and when I spend my money.
If you want to be a cunt, we can go down that road. We can break out Steam sales data, and I can bring out the ridiculously low budget PC builds and fucking Digital Foundry videos, we can measure the power usage by watts per hour and all the other stupid bullshit that just distracts from the point and makes any console thread descend into shitposting.
You support the brand, you pay more.
I couldn't give a fuck about the brand, and I am rewarded for that.
How is that fair to you? Why should you get less for your money when you're the one placing your faith in the Xbox brand? No other company does this.
There's always a way buddy
>MANDATORY subscription fee
It's not mandatory. You only pay for it if you want to play multiplayer games online. I'm paying for it even though I mostly play single player games. Completely optional.
>I pay $60 for the game
And I pay $48 on release day. Costs me less, specially in the long run.
>How is that fair to you
Because I'm enjoying playing video games on it while you're sperging out about me doing so.
Kill yourself
Even if they miraculously forced me to """"""upgrade"""""" from Windows 7, as they've been trying to do unsuccessfully for four years now, the App Store has so many problems and limitations of its own that put me off. Did you know that they've not even got the ability to install games on anything besides the C:\ drive yet? If you have a 120GB SSD and a 2TB HDD, the installer will only let you install the game on the SSD, installing games on other disks is a "planned feature". That's just the tip of the iceberg too where the technical issues are concerned.
It's half-baked and it benefits nobody, it lacks basic features, doesn't garner Microsoft more sales and doesn't get games into the hands of players.
Are you too retarded to drag and drop?
Not really.
Most people who primarily game on pc were likely never to buy the console, or never wanted to and are happier to buy from windows store.
M$ makes their money off of licensing shit and what have you. Consoles are a loss leader, upgrading to w10 and buying games on their store is more lucrative to them.
However most people who buy consoles don't do them solely for the two exclusives. Even look qt Sup Forumss favourite ps4. The best selling games (especially non bundled) are all third party multiplats. The majority of console gamers aren't some enlightened weebs who just have a hard on for exclusives. They are retards who don't know how to computer.
This way m$ taps both markets and everyone is better off.
>primarily game
You can install games to any drive.
It's under computer settings. That was just a a weird rumour by people confused it doesn't come up with the installer.
UWP has a lot of problems. And phil evem acknowledges that and wants to fix it.
But the main struggle they have is people like you who won't upgrade cause you are horribly misinformed.
they aint showed any reason to own xbone.... why the fuck would anyone consider this console?
microsoft have lost their damn minds
Ok well I can get a game for $30 on launch through affiliate CD key sites with discount codes and sales and herf derf you're a semantic fuckhead.
That isn't a line of reasoning you can ever win, and you keep coming back to that despite my insistence that the argument is about how Microsoft treats you as a customer, because you have no counter argument to the fact that you have an abusive relationship with your favorite megacorp.
Fine, keep defending Microsoft and never demand better of them while their brand disintegrates around you. Don't take advantage of your leverage as a consumer despite how successful that has been in the past. Where does it end? Paid online, microtransactions in AAA studio games, exclusives siphoned off to rival platforms as a reward for your patronage, it only benefits me and harms you.
I guess all the people with self-respect and any level of responsible consumerism already jumped ship, and the paltry 30 million people left in the dying ecosystem are retards like you.
You know what your attitude will get you at the end of the day? The death of the Xbox brand, and then you won't even have the option to play games on the system.
Relax dude i think he's trolling.
Personally I'd be pissed about the shit you are defending but m$ let's me play most things on pc instead anyway so i don't mind. You can have paid online a closed down platform and horrible performance cause i don't have to.
I funnily have been a lot more fond of Microsoft for taking this approach. Now im just getting it from Sony.
Hopefully sunset overdrive and full halo 5 come to pc someday though.
But why are such basic features absent to begin with?
"They acknowledge and want to fix it" but how does such a massive oversight occur and how many more will there be?
And I'm supposed to jump ship from a platform that works perfectly and meets my needs to one that doesn't, all to take advantage of games that are locked to a store that I don't want to use?
At that point I'd have Steam, Origin, Uplay, Windows Store and fucking Battlenet all running at the same goddamned time on an OS that I don't even want.
>If they had any confidence in the Xbox ecosystem they wouldn't keep spamming me with emails promoting "play anywhere" games, as if being able to play Xbox games on Windows 10 is a cool feature and not a desperate plea for help.
Call me back when can I insert Xbone discs into my PC Bluray drive, Microsoft.
>But why are such basic features absent to begin with?
It's not. It's there navigate to store setting s. I already sais.
>"They acknowledge and want to fix it" but how does such a massive oversight occur
What oversite? And because it's brand new. You don't just magically spawn the greatest platform of all time. Especially when there is a lot of backend shit involved it running the ghetto xbox ports.
>and how many more will there be?
I mean i can't see it ever getting worse.
>And I'm supposed to jump ship from a platform that works perfectly and meets my needs to one that doesn't,
No?
Steam still exists. Nobody is saying uninstall.
>all to take advantage of games that are locked to a store that I don't want to use?
UWP ports are much, much easier that standard ports. Besides what's the big deal of just using another storefront? I prefer amazon but I'll go to gamestop if i have to... Same thing really.
>At that point I'd have Steam, Origin, Uplay, Windows Store and fucking Battlenet all running at the same goddamned time
Hurrr competition is bad.
>on an OS that I don't even want.
Well i feel you as a Linux user. But it's objectively better than windows 7/8. Across the board. And the games all use dx12 anyway.
>$30 on launch through affiliate CD key sites with discount codes and sales
Those aren't physical releases, though. I already stated that I prefer those.
>it only benefits me and harms you
Having games on PC doesn't mean I'm not allowed to play them on xbone. It doesn't harm anyone, only benefits gaming as a whole. Or you think I'd have a reason to be mad a game isn't exclusive to xbone? I'm no fanboy
>The death of the Xbox brand
If Xbox stops existing then I'll just play my games elsewhere. I'm no fanboy, nor am I trying to convince you to play on consoles. I'm explaining why playing on console is a completely reasonable choice and why I have decided to do so.
You should watch the Phil Spencer interview that happened a few days ago during the Halo Wars 2 launch livestream. It's short and helps you see what he's trying to do with the brand. At the end of the day it's business, but he has a selfless approach to it.
I seriously don't understand why Microsoft or sony thought this was a good idea.
Very few people that already own the systems are going to bother getting the updated versions and the people that haven't bought either yet probably wont want to spend the extra money. It just seems so retarded to me and a bad investment on their part
It's going to work better for Microsoft due to the nature of theirs platform, their api and their plans to just sort of keep doing it this way.
Ps4pro wasn't enough of am upgrade and software side is a hastle.
Microsoft can better maintain multiple hardware configs thanks to dx12. They already do on pc. If all the games are coming to pc they can just run the uwp one on high settings essentially. So it's more than just rendering at a slightly higher res and upscaling or begging devs to patch to unlock the framerate.
Microsoft would be putting all the same work in anyway. Now they have just have their own prebuilt essentially.
They don't need this dude to upgrade to fix their shit or have even had a better plan from the get go.
Steam fucking exists its god damn prior art fucking copy the good parts how hard would that have been?
Can you repeat this in English please?
Microsoft's platforms are becoming irrelevant.
There is nothing they can do about it.
>windows
>irrelevant.
I fucking wish bud. But maybe you should move over here into reality, year of the linux isn't coming.
They could have bought Steam when they got the offer. They rejected.
