The first person didn't ruin it. The lack of effort after you leave the house and the eventual shooting gallery (exacerbated by the slow pace of the game) that happens in the end is what ruins it. CV was a terrible game too.

I wouldn't say that,it still isn't as good as any of the classic RE games.It certainly is the best first person RE game but that isn't a huge accomplishment.

I wouldn't say 4 is more RE, I'd say it's the only good one

Ill never get the hate CV gets its a great game.
Also besides maybe the very last part of the game which was kind of a shooter part I loved every other part of the game it was after the boat things started to get less impressive.

I have a hard time understanding the hate myself. I know opinions and everything, but I've had a blast with the game. It's not without its faults, but the amount of effort and budget they sunk into the game shows and makes it greater than the sum of its parts.

I'm playing the Ethan Must Die mode right now btw. After you learn to get past its bullshit first room, it is somehow quite a bit of fun!

Don't get me wrong, it's not my favorite. It's definitely a good game though and in my top 5 RE games.

just played it and my only problems with it are the unskippable cutscenes
the shooting gallery towards the end didnt really bother me and it was only like 20 minutes long
also helps that the guns in RE7 felt excellent

Stronger ties to the series means jackshit when discussing how good a game is on its own. Bonus modes are well and good but when the core game is shit (like 6) they don't can't save it. 5 is a decent game and Zero is actually pretty good, and u never said otherwise. But VII is better.

First person was great but game was really weak. Everything after the main house suckes and the main house wasn't that great to begin with.

I never get why first person games seem to be against shippable cutscenes.
Its annoying since I feel like you should be able to just skip any of the ingame cutscenes and not lose anything.
Besides 4 I have no idea why RE games never let me skip cutscenes.

6 was a good game
My main concern about 6 is that it's a reunion game of sorts with possibly 2-3 games worth of (bad) plot that was neatly resolved in the end, returning to the status quo.

Replayed Zero recently and still hated it. The partner system is trash. Never hated 5 or 6 and I haven't gotten a chance to play 7 yet. I'll remain cautiously optimistic and probably will enjoy it but it seems like a spin off that doesn't seem to have a lot of ties to the series.

I've never understood this complaint. It's perfectly fine, and the game doesn't force you to switch characters except maybe two or three times.

People on here love to hate shit that is enjoyed by people they don't like. In RE7's case, it's youtubers and the kids that watch LPs. Because the game appeals to those people, people on Sup Forums want to storm the game and shit talk it into oblivion. It's almost a political thing at the end of the day, not something related to video games.

RE7 is flawed. It's very cliche, and drops the ball once you go back to the guest house at the end. The final boss is terrible and the game turns out to be fairly short and easy. The side content is mostly DLC (although, that content is really good).

But other than that? The environmental design is awesome, lighting is superb, the game is actually focused on horror again, the combat is simple but works and it feels pretty good to play, the first person angle is refreshing and welcoming, and it has a good mix of combat and exploration / key finding again. It feels more like B horror goodness than RE4-6 ever did, and while the cast is all new, the new cast is fairly likable.

But the haters on Sup Forums won't acknowledge any of those things, the game is 100% irredeemable to them. Because there's a political aspect to their shitposting (or a braindead parroting aspect, which some hivemind tards do fall for occasionally).

I've played the campaigns twice (except Ada's - fuck her stealth shit). While it may be heavily scripted, it is a much longer game. Therefore, it's scripted shit is more spread out than VII's

While I dont agree with everything you said I think you mostly hit the nail on the head user.

Your partner becomes a liability more often than not. You can give them a nice gun like a shotgun and have them burn through all the ammo or just toss them a pistol and be nearly defenseless towards the last 2/3rds of the games. Their AI makes them pretty much only good for an extra backpack that has a healthbar attached to it. God help you if you're used to juking through crowds of enemies because they aren't going to make it.

It wasn't amazing but the only way I could see someone thinking that it wasn't at least pretty cool and tense was if they played with the HUD on.

The world is destroyed and there are like 12 different viruses or something ridicules. some of the spin off games are canon games.

So when the japs finally realized that we can't go with the 4 formula like they did in many of the games and the small echo of people wanting more horror in their survival horror game, They kinda needed to take down the pills they've where using. It was probably hardcore medication.

They probably created this out of spite and hoped that there would be new fans, and this probably made some new fans.

That's one of 6's biggest missed opportunities. TLoU did it pretty well, for a movie.
