Find a flaw.
Really, find ONE fucking flaw.
Find a flaw.
Really, find ONE fucking flaw.
console fps
This game was really dull. I bought it when it came out, not knowing anything about Metroid or the hype around it. I just recognized Samus from Smash. Returned it a week later. I'm shocked to this day about the critical acclaim surrounding this game.
this game was so good when it came out, blew my expectations away
the flaws are the sequels, 3 was shit, 2 was way too confusing
Bosses are fucking hard
literally the best game ever though
The only flaw is that the original runs better in comparison to the metroid collection, if you can even call that a flaw.
Physical copy and via Emulation.
>fucked up the spoiler
ah whatever i tried, mobileposting sucks
Bosses are hard ONLY on Hard Mode
FUCK the Hard Mode Omega Pirate
It's not an FPS.
You had horrible attention span and the game wasn't for you. Smash suited you better. So was eating rocks for short bursts of time.
Lots of backtracking filler.
No interactive objects and physics.
Non-existent story.
Practically a giant fetch mission.
It ends.
too linear
>Lots of backtracking filler.
Like every Metroid?
>No interactive objects and physics.
I see you didnt play it
>Non-existent story.
I see you didnt play it
>Practically a giant fetch mission.
Like every Metroid?
>metroid prime isn't an FPS
He's a retarded redditfugee just baiting. They've been doing it for a week now because BotW got leaked early. Stop replying.
>no interactive objects and physics
Congratulations, you're retarded.
You should try communicating in actual words.
>He's a retarded redditfugee just baiting
What does this even mean?
DUDE SCAN EVERYTHING LMAO
He's right, you do even aim. It's a FPA according to Miyamoto himself.
You don't really have to aim outside of Prime 3 so its more like a point and click adventure
optional 90% of the time
ICE SHRIEKBATS
What I mean is he's deliberately shitposting just to get responses. Stop giving him attention.
Not on my dick.
Oh yeah, I see what you mean now.
>find a flaw
Adjusting to the controls is what a lot of people would say, but instead I'll just say that I wish the game had been understood better. I really feel like this is one of those games people write off too easily but its easily one of the most unique experiences I've had in games.
Also, the 2nd and 3rd games aren't anywhere near as good. IDK why people try to say otherwise.
I actually like 3 the most but 1 definitely laid all the foundations and is the most important.
Metroid Prime was a bullshit boss because you had to hit him in an overly specific spot. It felt like hitting his head was pure luck
How do you know though?
You really can't assume someone is being purposefully stupid and show them the truth on the offchance they're not completely braindead.
Also reddit is actually a ton better than this shitpool. If any of you fags actually spent any time there instead of parroting what you've heard.
inb4 newfag, i've been here for 12 years.
Meta Ridley was much worse because he's a fucking damage sponge.
the collectathon backtracking at the end
>didnt boost ball into him
Ugly as hell. A few very nice visual details, but otherwise some of the worst graphics in a Gamecube game.
2 had Superior Lore
Just because it was in "every metroid" doesn't make it any less shit
I recently got a friend to start playing this and remembering all the neat little aesthetic features really started making me think about how great of a game Prime was.
>All the visor effects like rain drops, steam, reflections when you stand close to explosions
>Being able to see her hand in the x-ray visor and watch her move her fingers when you change beam types
>The fucking music
Is this series dead or what?
Why aren't there any new games of it?
*petitions your path*
Poorly designed controls.
They should have given you the option to use the C stick for aiming. Other gamecube games did this.
>You really can't assume someone is being purposefully stupid
How can you say that and claim you've been here for 12 years?
>game went from being fun to control to becoming an FPS
>terrible and small enemy selection
>scanning
>unmemorable music
>scanning
>Samus went from an agile, flipping off the walls ninja in Super, to an underwater tank in Prime
>scanning
>scanning
>scanning
It was a cute game, but should have been a 1off. Combat wasn't fun in this, movement wasn't fun in this; it's like the exact opposite of Super.
Franchise would have been better if it stuck to the original formula.
Bad boss fights.
>use this beam here
>now switch to this visor
>wait around for the boss to be vulnerable again
The fights feel too scripted. It's a fun game overall but I never look forward to the bosses when I replay it. I would also argue that the game is too linear, but my favourite Metroid game is the first one so I realize I'm probably in the minority in that regard.
game is funner than shit with a mouse on dolphin emu
only flaw would be using a gamepad
...man this was so much better than any ps2 game
the gc was also about 30% more powerful than a ps2
Can I get a informative response please? I'm genuinely curious.
He said reddit is better and he has been here for 12 years.
He is either baiting or genuinely fucking retarded.
People were so disappointed by its very ANNOUNCEMENT there were petitions to have it fucking cancelled.
Retro is working on other stuff.
Pacini left Retro in 2008.
Prime is over.
>implying scanning wasn't the tightest shit
What's the point of an alien world if you don't fucking explore it
Scared the shit out of me as a kid when i got to Phazon Mines that i dropped it for a year, got back to it and loved it ever since
-Magmoor Caverns is clearly unfinished as it merely acts a transit between Chozo Ruins and Phendrana with nothing of note in it.
-The Impact Crater had a lackluster build up to the penultimate encounter.
-Some of the artifacts are overly cryptic with the worst offenders being the two in Phendrana: the one where you have to X-ray a random wall to Power Bomb it and the other where you have to melt an ice crate, stand on top of a ledge and shoot a tower with a missile.
-Meta Kraid was cut.
-The Chozo Ghosts are annoying after a while.
-Controls have not aged all that well as pointed out.
-The Ice and Plasma Beam upgrades aren't that great.
It's my favorite game of all time but it does have its problems.
please kill yourself...
>series about exploration, isolation and beautiful sceneries
>level select, multiplayer, on a weak platform
This is only Metroid in name.
In fact this feels like another star fox adventures situation where they were given a game and put the most relevant nintendo franchise over it
Meow
1. it's still too ahead of out time
imagine how people would shit their pants if something like this was to be made for this current consoles generation
>Like every Metroid?
Yes.
Which is why I don't like Metroid games.
The tank controls are pretty bad.
Sometimes lock-on can be a bit fucky if enemies are close together, but that's pretty nitpicky.
Plasma Beam and Ice Beam are the most useful beams though, Plasma for raw damage and ice for instantly killing pirates.
Does it still hold up even today? I want to play it.
The artifacts weren't a huge issue if you were collecting them on your way, you can get most of them before you get all the upgrades.
Played it for the first time blind a week ago, it's still great and the lack of handholding is a breath of fresh air from modern games.
>The tank controls are pretty bad.
You can strafe by holding down L.
Fine then, the almost-tank controls are pretty bad.
I still haven't finished it yet. 2 more artifacts to backtrack across the entire fucking planet for.
>This game was really dull.
I've been successfully baited. This game was so goddamned interesting. Visor scans, lifeforms and their scans, the environments, the gameplay, the movement, the graphics, the equipment, the length, the presentation.
Not many games of the thousands upon thousand made are 10/10. Metroid Prime is 10/10.
"seek the hidden door at the top of phendrana's edge" is one of the most obvious
The control tower is 100000% bullshit though
wait.... seriously?
huh.
2 Is better, that its flaw.
If you lock on to a target you strafe in a circle around them, if not you just strafe left and right
dumb chozo ghosts
Just wanna walk around and not get attacked
The artifact hunt.
The worst part of chozo ghosts is that they interrupt the music.
Especially the comfy as hell eastern chozo ruins music.
came here to post this
DLed the wii version a while ago, the ontrols on it are quite good imo, it's way more fluid than the original ones.
Easy, the main problem was that FUCKING ARTIFACT HUNT.
>poorly designed aiming controls
>can lock on to enemies
...
>There are people who waited until the end of the game to get all the artifacts instead of just getting them on the way
Also something I just realized after playing through the game for the fourth time last week, is that holding down L while platforming gives you full air control.
I'd been doing it subconsciously the whole time. Only realized what I was doing when I stopped and thought about it.
Also, holding down the jump button as you're jumping tilts the camera down to make landing easier.
And if you lightly press the L button instead of all the way, you can strafe without locking onto enemies.
This game has some really awesome subtleties in the controls and the hud too.
Like the fact that the Thermal Visor is actually pirate technology, and it shows in the aesthetics. Its hud has very harsh angles and colors, as opposed to other visors' smooth contours.
The big balls on the shoulder don't have rockets inside them.
I replay the game regularly
Given how some of them are locked pretty much until the end I find it much easier to just get them in one sweep at the end.
Always backtracking when you get the upgrade that lets you get the artifact probaly costs you more time.
Honestly only prime 3 got that right
the fucking BACKTRACKING
>:C
Echoes has the worst backtracking in the series.
...isn't that obvious?
How the heck did you guys played the game for the first time, and how the hell did you manage to like it this way, it would have been way too annoying to play and ruin the gameplay
Prime 2 did it better. They're both 10/10s though
it's not castlevania
>unlock thing
>can open 3 new doors
>only 1 will allow progress
>have to wait for the game to tell you which one to go for
Flawless game design.
It's so obvious I didn't even realize I was doing it.
That's how fluid the controls are once you're used to them.
Literally my only problem with the controls is that my left index starts hurting after pressing down on the L button so much.
>artifact hunt
>no wall jump, screw attack, or space jump
>intrusive HUD that can only be controlled with opacity, rather than just simply making things smaller
>no sprinting, or otherwise faster movement
>long, uninteresting tutorial
>chozo ghosts
>grapple beam aims poorly and inconveniently, making it quicker to just run through the magmoor caverns rather than using the grapple hooks
>tons of backtracking, even for a metroid game
>lore is extremely repetitive, with 60% of messages being nothing more than "Oh man, we Chozo are dying to Phazon, we sure hope the young girl who we trained and provided with power armor can help us, wink wink"
>visor modes are annoying to constantly toggle, especially the x-ray one which is practically useless
>final area is both annoying and extremely short
>final boss is pretty repetitive
Overall, I greatly preferred Super and Zero Mission.
I have to re setup dolphin to play it.
Too bad the X were a one-off villain. A prime with the X parasite in it would be horrifying.
If you put down the game and don't pick it up again for a while, it can be impossible to figure out where to go next unless you use a guide. I've had to start the game over multiple times because of this.
You don't have to aim in Goldeneye either.
>no sprinting, or otherwise faster movement
Sounds like you stopped playing before you got the Morph Ball upgrade.
the shooting is absolute garbage, the movement isn't good either.
its good music if you get into the fight
Not enough trans/lesbian messages.
>have to wait for the game to tell you which one to go for
look how fucking bad this faggot is
Looks like you're a stupid faggot that can't read. I mentioned the final boss and final area in my post.
The boost ball has awful vertical mobility, and it's a pain to get past enemies with it. Maybe it's good for flat, plain areas, but there aren't too many of those.
And Goldeneye is shit
i got it as a gift when it came out but never played it
>unlock ice gun
>see two doors that can be opened with it
>go for one
>leads to an underwater section
>don't have the double jump to get over obstacle
>turns out I was supposed to go to some other ice door on the other side of the map
Wow!
