Literally a poor man's BotW
poor how? the fact that it runs in 144hz/1440p or 60hz/4k?
-st.
Finished your thought for you.
It has a shit-ton of flaws, but honestly I think that's why I love it.
Budget was tiny, story is obtuse and goofy, but it's fun as hell.
this game ran at like 15fps on PS3 because they just had to have their epic fire effects. inexcusable.
>Stabbing and shooting the fuck out of cyclops eye
>It takes forever
Why? I'm doing nothing BUT stabbing and shooting the eye but it still takes like 10 minutes of this shit. Same with golems, I'm doing nothing but beating the ever living fuck out of the medals but unless I can do a few helm splitter spins on them they take forever.
Dragons Dogma is one of the roughest diamonds I've ever seen
Too bad there will never be a sequel that actually fixes its many problems
Perfect games didn't exist until Breath of the Wild.
The MMO touches on many things, although it suffers from the bad grind formula that alot of MMOs do. Also bad endgame.
>he bought the PS3 version
Xbox 360 was the king of its generation
>DD
>terrible combat
>good combat
>good character customization
>good enemy designs
>good ripping off berserk's witch house and golems
>crapy incomprehensible story
>short game
I enjoyed it but it needed a lot more game. And a dlc dungeon grind doesn't fix that.
Lot of great ideas, just feels unfinished.
Also I gave that item to the person I liked the most and that merchant bitch still showed up as my beloved. WTF, I hate her.
FRYINHG INTO FLLEEEEEEEEE
i can't play this game because every time i see my pawn i get horny
i just dress her really lewd in short shorts and a tight shirt with her belly exposed, try and play but can't stop looking at her. she's so perfect
>can't go to the moon
I was halfway through BBI with a MA and my save fucking corrupted. Raged and deleted the game.
Just reinstalled it back. Going Strider this time. Still one of my favorite games.
Is a Fighter pawn good for Strider? Kinda want to make my pawn a tankbro this time.
i'm playing as a tall skinny dark elf mage atm
bretty fun
It's fun, but pretty much zero replayability and the difficulty is just nigger HP pools. Also extremely short. It left me wanting more, but not in the good way.
So how's DDO from you few that actually play it?
You can just play through BBI
Honestly Dark Arisen is one of the best dungeon crawler out there. It's what a 3D Metroidvania should be
>zero replayability
what
there's plenty of vocations to mess with
This. There's a point when you're basically able to farm BBI and you realize there's no point to continuing because you can kill Daemon 2.0 in 45 seconds and nothing in the game poses a threat to you anymore.
DD seriously needed a proper end-game dungeon or some kind of perpetual multiplayer raid, rather than a single-player raid where the only reason to get gear is to kill the same stuff that dropped that gear, but faster.
So you mean something like... a MMO?
But honestly I want a more extended online feature in DD, something like meeting and forming party with people through the Rift would be pretty cool
It's literally nothing like a Metroidvania. BBI was fine the first time, no reason to do it over and over once you've beaten it. Hell, there were hardly enough dungeons to even call it a dungeon crawler. You get what, BBI, The one where you escort the princess out, the waterfall temple, and that big wrecked castle on that island. Am I forgetting anywhere?
I'm not saying it's bad, but it wasn't best at anything.
i thought it was okay. it's definitely what you'd expect from dragons dogma, the MMO. they reuse a lot of assets, so visually it's the same, just with a lot more content. quests are pretty standard, with some big monsters roaming around to take down with a party. lots more skills and a few more classes than base game. i didnt reach endgame, so i cant tell you what thats like. also i remember it being pretty grindy
>Hell, there were hardly enough dungeons to even call it a dungeon crawler
There's the Everfall, the catacombs under the bridge, the big cave in the northwest, the forest in the south.
A decent amount, but most of them, you didn't have much of a reason to go back to after you cleared it/did the quest.
Sadly they weren't as expansive as Everfall/BBI.
honestly, a sequel with real co-op would be super fun. throw in a bunch more content. hell, just rip it from fucking DDO since they have the assets and everything.
it's called role-playing
try beating the game with only the starter rust weapons
even those were expansive because they just copy/pasted the rooms
bbi made me drop the game, everything is so dark and those dogs that come in 2 are so annoying to fight
More like missed potential.
Shit world, shit quests, shit lifeless NPCs and shit pawn system.
The best parts of the game are the combat and character creator, the game would be much better if you could make more than 1 pawn as well.
There is also a game that does everything Dragon's Dogma wanted to do: Fable. Only part where Fable falters is combat.
I've replayed this game at least 6 times now.
That's one of the biggest wastes of time in video games. Playing warrior or fighter was already tedious enough. You cant seriously believe some shit like that is a viable alternative to well made challenging content.
I enjoyed the game for a bit but then everything I did just became too easy
Ok.
I wish. It was almost a perfect game but one of my major complaints were the lack of horses for faster exploration.
>game about climbing huge monsters and dragons
>can't climb a single horse
There were some other things, but this was my biggest gripe.
This game could really be refined with a sequel but knowing Capcom, they'll just fuck everything up.
>perfect games don't exi-
>RNG based
>perfect
How is Breath of the Wild combat compared with Dragon's Dogma?
Well yeah, the game would be boring without RNG.
...
>played DD on PC a while ago
>stopped after beating the main quest
>hear all the time that post-game and Bitterblack are great
>want to start over because it's been so long
>remember how much of a slog the first part of the game is
what do?
>shit pawn system.
Go each a dick. The pawn system is great.
>t. buttblasted game gear owner
don't you have to go buy batteries or something
A flawed masterpiece for sure. Horrendous story with outstanding combat, classes, & item system. IMO the art style still allows the graphics to hold op. Oh, and by the way; mods. How can you excuse yourself from not playing this game?
>there are people who played through Dragon's Dogma with more than one pawn in their party
This, Jesus Christ. Somehow the game made me appreciate ESO (of all games) even more.
>incomprehensible story
are you retarded?
not saying the story couldn't have used some work, but it was far from incomprehensible
>terrible combat
come on
the combat is one of the best aspects
Dragon's Dogma is very, very far from a perfect game. Even its best aspect, the combat is held back by the fact that it's an RPG where stats are meant to be more important than skills. Trying to play it like an action game is an absolute nightmare especially if you like simple sword and board classes. Then you have the tiny world with underwhelming exploration since there's no good optional dungeons or anything like that, the terribly put together story, bland quest design and low enemy variety.
My pawn was a healer that was useless on her own.
this is one of those games that kind of sucks but for whatever reason I still really like it
every year that passes without a sequel is another year i get closer to my suicide
if you skip the optional quests the main story goes by rather fast and painlessly. Then just gear up in the everfall and youre ready
why not? my arisen was a warrior/assassin, my main pawn was a ranger, and I used 1 mage pawn to heal, and 1 sorcerer to conjure up tornadoes. Shit was mad comfy yo.
Because the game is too easy with that many pawns.
I played as a Warrior with one Sorceror pawn that had heals and buffs, and we completely steamrolled the game.
I'm gonna plant a flag here and say that the world was as big as it needed to be. The way fast travel was handled made it feel much larger.
yeah but its fun
>takes half an hour to kill an epic monster
Am I doing something wrong? They usually kill me in two hits but they're so easy to dodge and it gets distracted so easily by my followers that I've never died to one.
>actually doing notice board quest
jokes on you
>short game
If you count BBI, it's on the verge of being too long.
>there are people who played vanilla DD without the eternal ferrystone
holy hell I can not imagine doing that
Later on you will find monster that has AOE and wipe your party in 2 hits, or poison, or instant kill
But during early game your damage will be really shit. Invest in better gear
It's not, at least without all the cut content.
Fug.
>you will never fight daimon for the first time again
>you will never have all your pawns sucked away forcing you into a one on one battle with the corrupted arisen for the first time again
>you will not get to fight said demon while 'coils of light' plays for the first time again
seriously, Daimon was the best boss fight I can remember.
A reminder that Sup Forums didn't hate DD until PC release.
A reminder that Sup Forums will literally hate anything that loses it's elusive allure.
Depends on your build really. You should pretty much just focus on one stat. The game sits in a weird place where if you build right everything is made of paper mache, but if you fuck up your build everything becomes a bottomless pool of HP. I never found a happy medium.
It was god awful.
post her
This game needs to go on sale so people make more pawns.
>Metroidvania
Are you just pulling words out of your ass like you think it means something? BBI is a dungeon crawler but not a metroidvania.
Reminder that DD2 will be unveiled at E3.
desu the game was incredibly hyped up before then which lead people to believe that it's some flawless masterpiece instead of a very sloppy but fun and memorable game.
>have extremely fun combat that's perfect for multiplayer
>don't have multiplayer
reeee
HOW was the ranged combat so good in this game? And the combat didn't rely on **invincible frame rolling** like every other 3rd person action game to be fun.
>combat didn't rely on **invincible frame rolling** like every other 3rd person action game to be fun
Only one series did that, and it was hardly an action game
Game needed more weapons.
Sure there's a ton in general, but once you select your vocation you only have about 5 or 6 to chose from.
Who /Bastard Sword/ here?
nigger I made the same complaint before the pc version of revealed. I have the ps3 version of dark arisen and disliked it
>there are people that didn't make themselves and main pawn a loli
only for the added challenge of course
>Golem fight
>Rock music plays
>Metal Golem fight
>Electric guitar is used
All the weapons are made of glass
>forced online interaction
Yeah, no.
A reminder that this user is bullshitting and Sup Forums is not one person.
>He didn't make his Pawn a THicc amazon warrior.
>tfw you're so tiny you can fit into the goblin holes in the dark fortress
God bless the lolis.
>Yeah, no.
No, yeah.
Combat in BOTW is piss easy, yet still irritating because every weapon breaks in like 10 swings. It's honestly a pretty bad game.
best aspect, but its awfull.
There are offline pawns if you can't connect online even just occasionally for whatever reason, and you don't need to stay connected to continue using a player-made pawn after you've recruited it
I never really liked the latergame weapons
Ended up model swapping the bitter end with the flamberge with help from an user from /ddg/ RIP ;_;7
Have you played the game? Watching videos on youtube doesn't count. The combat in BotW is much more dynamic and interactive than DD's.
The only gripe I have with the game is that you can't get all of the Ur Dragon weapons by remaining offline. But BBI made them useless regardless so who cares.
>The combat in BotW is much more dynamic and interactive than DD's.
I only saw a video of a dude explaining how much creativity you can have in the game and the amount of denial I saw made me want to scream.
>"You can burn fields!"
>It does barely no damage
>"You can throw bombs at them!"
>They do almost no damage
>"You can use this power to grab boxes and throw them in their heads!"
>It does little to no damage
>"If you go to enemy and just swing your sword at him two times it dies
So much creativity, such dynamic and varied combat. Oh but you can do sneak attacks!
>there are people that didn't play senpai to their pawn loli
I've been playing it on Wii U for a few days now. There's some cool shit you can do with the physics and gadgets in combat but most of the time you're just running around breaking your weapons and picking up enemy weapons to throw back at them.
Got that right.
the game has few top tier women but you can never really fuck them
i give the game 8.5/10
i wish it had more to do, I did al lthe side content, main story and bitterblack so fucking fast, only took +150 hours
And I never really got into NG+
In a way, this picture sums up the entire DD's experience in a single frame. Bravo.
>that
>a perfect game
Even hardcore DDDA fans like me admit that it's a flawed gem at it's best. It's nowhere near perfect, which is why so many people want a DD2.
