Just finished this game and, as usual, Sup Forums was fucking wrong. HZD is a great game. It has a great soundtrack, interesting enough plot, likable protagonist, and the gameplay is fun as hell.

Why did Sup Forums lie to me about this game?

Nigel is mentioned and human combat is mostly tedious. Funnily enough I found that the human combat works decently when player isn't allowed to stealth, mainly during the part where the mercenaries storm the mountain and during the Eclipse invasion. So in the end what needs most actual fixing is stealth.

Great game though, monster fighting is fun, world building is top notch and narrative is descent. Needs more arena fights though.

Its mediocre, its a sony first party game so it got 2 extra points by reviewers. Its a 6/10 or 7/10 depending if you like the story(i didnt).

At the same time it was a good time waster before zelda. I dont regret my time with it, but i do regret paying $50 for it

Been playing it for a few days now, and it's definitely a good game, but not a 9/10. Graphics are great, and combat is fun, but the crafting is lacking, environments are more of the same than otherwise, and it feels all too familiar. Not stand out, but definitely fun nonetheless.

How? Horizon is a literally who game made by the "halo killers" releasing next to a Zelda game.

What does this game do well that separates it from other open world games, from what I've seen it looks like your typical Ubisoft game with robot dinosaurs which is admittedly pretty cool.

Nah it didn't stop me. Just I got it literally right before I got the switch and I just kinda fell into Zelda more with how I could play it while also lazing about with friends.

I just, the puns were pain. Im not even above making puns myself I just, ALLOY.

There's very little Ubisoft in them. I mean there's the obvious comparison with Ubi towers and the girafee thingies but they're optional. I see it more as a Witcher 3 + Monster Hunter + Tomb Raider/Uncharted.

The best part about it the bow combat and fighting the giant robots. Oh and the graphics.

There is nothing about the aesthetic in the game from trailers or any other footage of seen of it that appeals to me in the slightest way. Her outfits, her hair, the robots, her bow, none of it looks good. It's all over designed and non-sensical.

They did find a way to make the main character not White while not having anyone notice though.

About as much as a reason as the Witcher 3. It works well as an open world, different regions/habitats = different robots to fight, different clans/towns etc. Doesn't really work against it desu.

I will say though... fuck the herbs gathering for healing.

It's a third person game. You have to see the character the whole time you are playing. Just like how footsteps are the sound you hear constantly in a game and thus they must be very good, the character appearance must also be good.

the release date for Horizon was set way before Zelda, and Zelda was originally supposed to be a 2015 game but got pushed back because of the Switch needing games at launch.

At no point did anyone in Sony say it was a Zelda killer and if you ever played HZD you'd know it has very little in common with Zelda, which makes comparing the two stupid. The Zelda killer thing came from console warriors babies getting worried that HZD might outsell Zelda (it has) so they started calling it Zelda killer, bunching it up with other failed games in the past

Yeah, I see a lot of similarities between it and Assassin's Creed 1 as far as setting up a new franchise goes. If they can show some fucking restraint unlike Ubisoft and not run it into the ground, Horizon sequels should be good.
It's also an interesting world just on it's own, so they don't even have to stick with Aloy if they chose not to.

I liked the game and enjoyed it, but does anyone else think the premise of completely unrealistic? I mean who would be dumb enough to create the kinds of machines in this game, and why would there not have been legislation passed to stop their production at some point?

I think in the logs the clarifies that the private corps were more powerful than nations and they could change the law and legislations at will, thought I'm not that sure. And about the self replicating-biomass consuming robots? It is stupid, really fucking stupid as some characters point out.

It's pretty limited to story/quest triggers. During fights the chatter isn't any more common than it is with like Nathan Drake or Gerald.
