I haven't played either... i played some of witcher one or two, and refunded it. Gameplay was shit and plot was pretty lol. Basically dark n edgy + softcore pornography.
I want to know: is there anyone who thought witcher 3 was top shit while thinking witcher 1 was boring tryhard nonsense?
I havent played N:A yet, and I'm currently on my first playthrough of TW3. I would suggest getting TW3 complete edition, its like $30 now, and its a fantastic game with loads of content. By the time you finish, Nier will be $20. I'm tempted to buy Nier right now too, looks great and Sup Forums cant stop talking about it, but I probably wouldnt touch it until I beat TW3.

Buy Mass Effect Andromeda, it's a real RPG since actually lets you create and customize a character. W3, Zelda, and Horizon are fucking trash "games" and aren't real RPGs.
Never played Witcher 1, tried Witcher 2, died, got bored quit after the first mission.
Loved every moment of Witcher 3 plus expansions. Up to you what you do with your money though.

Witcher 3 looks pretty but that's about it.
Story is really fucking awful, gameplay is even worse. Music is decent.

Did we play the same game? The story is awful. I think your confusing a good story with good characters. Even then, the Wild Hunt are shit-tier villains, and the whole finding-Ciri is the most basic bitch plot device.

I'm wondering how a higher difficulty makes the combat better. Geralt can combo past 2 swings, but its not worth it since enemies take a huge leap back and he can't close the gap after 2 hits. Or they suddenly attack even if they were flinching. So you basically want to backstep after every 2 swipes and keep circling around.

You should look into Mass Effect Andromeda. After having been blown away by Dragon Age: Inquisition. I played Mass Effect 2 and really enjoyed it, but I'm coming more from the Dragon Age side of things and not Mass Effect (only played some portions of ME1 and ME3).
I really like how Inquisition did away with the linearity of the old Dragon Age games and, despite its size, presented a living, breathing world with fun combat to boot. ME:A seems to be similar. Looking forward to play it, have to reduce backlog first though hahaha

Story is the strong point but its not THAT good

Get both. Both games aren't perfect, and you could argue that they're overrated (Witcher 3 especially), but they're still both fantastic games and worth your time to see them both through.
For right now though, I would say that Witcher 3 is a better option if your're strapped for cash.
