The game was great and you're a faggot
Why are we still here, just to suffer?
Remember that time Yong Yea went to the MGSV preview event and got to play MGSV for hours and made a video saying how he was 95% sure that you're playing as the real Big Boss?
Rebbit
My favorite part was that surgeon who was trying to do a head transplant on some dude and wrote a book with a bunch of mgs references as titles. That was a weird fucking coincidence and I loved it
>chico simply died
>people said you could play as ocelot or quiet in singleplayer
>you don't even play as big boss
>people said kojima was worried the game was too long
>reddit fags 100% it within 3 days of release
>i broke up with my gf so i would have time to play the game i thought would end all games
I also remember how glorious it was to see the franchise, the MGS fanbase and /mgg/ die.
Biggest bunch of redditors to ever grace Sup Forums.
Good fucking riddance.
where the fuck is that shit from
also chico was included in the early concepts of tpp but got cut halfway, i think artbooks has concept drawings for him
its fanart
oops maybe I should include a link
artstation.com
>there are people who liked mgsv
This pic?
I like that he actually reminds me of "Null" from portable ops, which was a good design.
I wish they used a lot of this cut content, more than 3 boss battles would've been nice.
>I still love TPP I just wish there was more, what exists is a solid 70/100
Remember those time he openly shat on the dude who popularize the body double theory, and then shut up about it immediately after the game came out.
Wait, did that end up being real or was it a ruse?
I remember a lot of news on TV reporting it, but none of them said anything about the connection to MGS
Dude is a complete fucking shill.
I was more blasted that he confirmed it was the greatest game of all time during that event and just furthered the hype machine. He never backed off that position either, even after the incomplete, incoherent mess the game turned out to be. Sick guy!
>tfw I walked 10 miles on a rainy day with thunderstorms to best buy just to buy MGSV because I couldn't wait.
>I played it all week and had fun being tactical
>then I hear Sup Forums shitting on chapter 2
>it can't be that bad
It was so horrible. And to think that I said this game was going to be GOAT and that after this game I'd stop playing vidya and becoming a NEET.
What a shame this didn't prove to be correct
I have the feeling that Chico would have played out similar to Paz in MGSV, with his crazy serial killer look just being a hallucination. But Kojima ran out of time.
I never heard what actually happened, but I'm pretty sure it was actually real and just a really weird coincidence. There were stories about it everywhere and he was planning it for years I believe. Just another example of grade A meme magic I guess
...
>chico could have been a hallucination encouraging venom to go nuclear
>paz could have been a hallucination encouraging venom to be a good boy
...
...
Last night I had a dream I kissed Stefanie Joosten when she had a bf, it was rad.
It would've been nice to see Chico "Be a man" like he said he would.
Also one of the minor things that I miss and FOR ME broke TPP as a "MGS" game was that we had no 1 on 1 CQC fight, as was tradition.
...
the Null-like appearance makes me think he'd be more like Quiet, you could either kill him or recruit him and rehabilitate him.
>hurr hurr someones not part of my secret internet club
you'll find every website has its autists
I knew trouble was on the way when Afghanistan ended after like mission 13. At that point, I realized there was going to be tons of filler to get to 50 total missions unless there was a third map no one knew about. I kept waiting for the story to pick up, for the cool bosses, for Mother Base to actually have something going on.
Oh fuck I forgot how similar he looked to the doctor in MGS V too. WAS HE JUST A BIG FUCKING RUSE OR IS IT A MEME MAGIC COINCIDENCE I STILL DON'T KNOW
>Skull Face was actually Sokolov
i actually liked this theory, just because it would have been interesting if Kaz was always a role invented to manipulate Snake, you have Ocelot still playing the role in TPP but then you have this Decoy Ocelot running around who stole his identity. would have also explained why Ocelot was so fucking boring.
>cringe
stopped reading there
remember the theory threads?
remember all the fan made content?
remember all the hype?
It's crazy how it caused almost the entire MGS culture on Sup Forums to die.
Even though MGSV turned out to be shit at least we got some good Shinkawa artwork from it.
>we will never get to play it
Shit was real as fuck. He later distanced himself from social media and stopped appearing online because so many MGSV fans were messaging him about the game rather than the head transplant
>his daughter's name was Eva
>his wife's name translated to peace in English
>References the HEAVEN PROJECT many times
I feel bad for him
>tfw both MGSV and ZTD turned out to be massive fucking disappointments
At least Ace Attorney 6 turned out well.
>it's another Sup Forums circle jerks muh nostalgia le good times memba XD episode
...
Disappointed that the MGSV artbook was literally just a collage of his drawings instead of being indepth with commentary by him on his designs.
Skull Face would have been better without the shitty domino mask for no fucking reason.
What the fuck are you serious? Shit like that makes me question my reality famalamadingdong
These are pretty horrible.
Kek, reminds me of the time baneposting manifested itself in the form of that plane crash.
i wouldn't say that, we still have threads about it on here. what really caused it to die was Kojima leaving Konami, the lack of substantial content updates for the game, MGO3 sucking and Survive being a fucking dumpster fire that showed Konami has no idea what to do with the franchise.
The game was good/great.
You faggits just overhyped the game and it would NEVER EVER reach your expectations even if kojima had time to finish the game.
Absolute fucking cringe
>we still have threads about it on here
And they are mostly just "I will never not be mad".
it was just there to reference Phantom of the Opera and so Mantis had a signature mask for when Skull Face was controlling him. although it would have been cute if Mantis had a little cowboy hat instead
Is there a compiled list of these connections? I'd love to read through them again.
...
It's fucking nuts. Pic related.
oh and a Lone Ranger reference, with Code Talker as Tonto.
What the fug man that's wild
You have to understand OP is always a faggot. I'm playing Mortal Kombat XL. I sure as fuck wouldn't bother making a thread about it on Sup Forums. I already know it's a waste of time. I wouldn't bother to make a thread for MGSV either.
Why would anyone attempt to discuss anything here unless it's weeb shit or Zelda?
>tfw no spaghetti western duel with Skull Face
Wow, that actually does sound cool.
You faggots need to get the fuck over it. I've played every single metal gear game and MGSV was just as good as MGS2 at least.
I hope you get angry at my post.
Can't help those with shit tastes.
This.
>The Good - Venom
>The Bad - Skull Face
>The Ugly
Kaz? guess instead of a gun he could have explosives or something, like he wired something to blow and has the detonator in his hand.
i liked MGSV and agree. in 5, 10 years time people will look back and see it had a lot more going on than people realize.
The ugly would be Skull Face, and the bad would be Big Boss
depends on if you look at the description as a literal thing, or how they worked in the original work. 'Ugly' was Tuco, who could not fit in the rigid framework of Good and Bad that traditional westerns operated on. also Bad was specifically chosen as it was different from Evil, which definitely describes Skull Face and by that point also applies to Big Boss.
Ugly would have to be someone who exists outside of the binary of Good and Bad and cannot operate within it. i guess that also applies to Venom, who is stuck between his own good nature but the demonic personality of Big Boss implanted onto him that makes him crazy.
>Ugly would have to be someone who exists outside of the binary
Hmm, Ocelot maybe? His motivations are the hardest to navigate.
quiet was ugly
tl;dr ahead, analysis of TGTBTU i'm basing this off of
>Good and bad are relative terms that create meaning for each other. What is good? Not bad. What is bad? Not good. Because the two words 'good' and 'bad' create meaning for each other under this context, this changes our interpretation of the word good.
>The important thing to look at here is that Good and Bad, being opposites that create meaning for each other -- are two halves of an unstable binary, with no ultimately objective or transcendent source of meaning, and that this unstable binary is placed in a very barren nearly nihilistic setting where comparison of these two people is the closest thing either we, the viewer, or the characters themselves can find to any kind of moral order.
>Tuco 'the ugly' is a guy that believes in binaries. "there are two kinds of people in the world my friend" is his line repeated over and over throughout the movie. Everything in his conception of the world boils down to binary categorization. The problem is that the world, and the human condition isn't like that. It's not clean-cut, it's not simple, it's not pretty -- it's ugly. Tuco is a guy that was searching for any kind of order in the nihilistic chaos and he reached for a life-line: differentiation. He couldn't find objective truth in god, but he could at least look at the world comparatively in a case by case basis and arrange it into binaries.
>For the movie to work, *someone* has to be good, and *someone* has to be bad. But Tuco is a messed up guy with a complicated history. Even though he believes in binaries, he has trouble consistently forcing himself into one, and so his behavior, his beliefs, his motivation -- it's all an ugly inconsistent flailing chaotic mess.
so Ocelot obviously isn't a 1:1 analogue of Tuco but he does fit in this mold of someone whose entire moral makeup is ugly and chaotic, who really doesn't fit into either Good or Bad
Venom, Ocelot and Skull Face having a showdown on one of the struts while Mother Base II is burning around them would have been a really cool finale
"The ugly" is Huey; the antagonist of act 3
he fits too if you take everything at face value.
i still think Kaz framed him for everything but Strangelove's murder
Huey confessed
I fucking hate how Sony constantly feeds out little niblets of their BIG BIG games when they're still years away from hitting the shelves. It really is fucking frustrating knowing about Death Stranding so early on, or TLOU2 when we know they're not coming out for ages.
After MGSV, I'm done with Kojimbo. I'll wait and see with DS, if it's both a finished game this time, and actually good.
Kojimbo is slow as fuck, but with Sony he'll get all the time he needs and a blank check to make the game he wants (as long as he can produce). We'll see with DS how much of MGS success was due to him and how much was Tomokazu Fukushima and others.
Pythonselkan was the closest to the actual plot. Considering all the Kojima/Konami drama, he probably would have been close to 100% correct if Kojimmie had made the game without being impeded, rushed, and forced isolation from his team by Konami.
The game feels unfinished because it clearly is.
No, the closest was the guy who made the original Decoy Octopus chart.
The only cringe I recall from the theory threads were the 24/7 neo-Sup Forums kiddies regurgitating CHICO IS THE CHOPPER/QUIET/OCELOT/EVERYTHING XD forced meme posts.
you must have autism
>The game was great and you're a faggot
A soulless open world with a "Base Building" mechanic that felt like a ghost town, lack of engaging drama iconic to the series, a disjointed, unfinished mess of a Chapter 2, extremely repetitive gameplay, nearly nothing to offer in terms of replay value, easily cheesed gameplay, microtransaction jew shit, a godawful PvP mode that came as a post-release update and lack of any sense of meaningful closure to the series.
Is this what a great game makes in 2017?
On top of that, the theory crafts made for a way more interesting plot than the pissfart of what we actually got. The entire game was spoiled in the handful of trailers that came out before it finally released.
A clever game would have made those trailers be red herrings and dropped a bombshell on the player in terms of revelations and plot twists that weren't alluded to in the trailers.
Instead, Kojima just vomited out a lackluster story, even though the theorycrafts showed he had all the tools at his disposal to just make a few tiny connections and blam, produce an interesting plot or an interesting character.
Imagine pic related, for example. Why exactly WASN'T that Quiet's explanation? It would have been topical in today's political climate AND he'd have defended that tweet at the same time.
Kojima is a hack. He wasted Konami's money and probably caused Konami to lose all faith in the industry. Not hyped for Death Stranding that's for fucking sure.
>30 years in the industry
>makes one game that was underwhelming and obviously had a troubled development cycle
>I'M DONE WITH KOJIMA
>makes one game that was underwhelming and obviously had a troubled development cycle
>Implying
I didn't like 4 or Peace Walker either. And I wasn't a fan of the games he produced during his tenuer as vice president of Konami's game division.
>mfw I remember all the optimism and fun leading up to the release, and how brutally the game crushed that feeling
...
the story never made any fucking sense to me i just enjoyed playing 2-5 and peacewalker
Thread didn't need to continue after this point
i am so glad you and other faggots are bumping the thread telling the rest of us what we're allowed to talk about
kik?
>no Gray Fox
>no loli Sniper Wolf even though the setting would've fit
>no young David
>Eli wasn't fleshed out at all
>no developments in the overall plot of the series whatsoever
>Snake has a big name VA but he barely ever speaks
>remaining supernatural aspects of the series explained away with deus ex machina horseshit (nanomachines, parasites, etc)
At least the core gameplay was pretty damned good I guess.
>all that shit
>Y AINT QUIET CHICO THO
I couldn't take you less seriously if you were wearing a giant vagina hat
The problem was what we were shown is what we got. Something that has never been the case in an MGS game before.
I guess the hype clouded his opinion and when it wore off and he wasn't that happy with the final product.
I remember him talking about MGSV in a video a good while after it was released and he seemed to be pretty mad about it.
I'm so glad we didn't get any of that fanfic shit. The shameless fanservice was the poison that spoiled MGS4.
>muh headcanon
But that was the exact case for MGS3, 4 and Peace Walker.
>Something that has never been the case in an MGS game before
uh huh.....
It doesn't help the fucking fact that the medic's model looks literally like a young zero; as they share the same head model, bone structure, and fucking eyes
What the fuck Kojima
this guy is gonna die alone and ignored
>muh mgs4 is shit meme
Mgs4 with its faults still proved more entertaining than the snooze fest or MGSV. Id rather have a Liquid game than big medic
