SQE are lazy as fuck with this game and have been since mid 2.0. Could barely get the fucks to add one new race for 3.0.
IT's not two races, it's two types, like they have done for every other race
Obviously the subtypes will be a loli little sister dog girl thats good with magic and the other type will be a kinda tall, busty big sister type thats good with tanking.

I'm referring to the differences between Sun-Seeker and Moon-Keeper Miqo'te as a reference for good at magic and good at melee. Both can be good at everything but they have stats aligned for that specific use. No it doesnt really matter by end game but its a good way to differentiate and follows their SQE's already established methods for making new races.

FFXIV needs the ability to change character height, weight, facial features and etc to the existing races. Not new races. Adding a new race just means there will be millions more clones walking around.
Wait, scratch that, since FFXIV has so few players, more like a couple thousand new clones. 90% of them being cats.
Ah, no, they're just unnamed so thats the easier way of denoting them as subtypes and not as seperate races

New races is the last thing FF14 needs
What it needs is more horizontal progression, content that doesn't become obsolete quickly, and improve its netcode so PVP isn't a laggy mess for melee positional attacks.

Add a glamour headpiece and call it a day. Creating a whole new race and lore is such a waste of development resources when they could be spending that time improving gameplay and client functions outside of playing character creator dressup.
