Is Modern Sonic just not allowed to have any games by himself anymore?

Literally nothing wrong with them.

All they need to do is handle them well rather than do another Lost World.

>modern sonic in any form
Generations sucked on both ends, don't lie to yourselves. Colors was bad. Unleashed was bad no matter what time of day. They are not good games.

He had Lost World. That was after Generations right?

Yes. It was also very bad.

WHY DOES MODERN SONIC HAVE 2D SEGMENTS STILL? WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT IF CLASSIC SONIC'S THERE?

This. I was hoping they'd stick around. Lost World just did them horribly.

Because Sonicfags are dumbfucks that don't know what they want.

*Whipcrack*

>Three gameplay styles
>2D platforming starring Classic Sonic
>3D boost hallways starting Modern Sonic
>3D werehog-style best-em-up starring Boom Sonic, stretchy limbs and all

...

>3D werehog-style best-em-up starring Boom Sonic, stretchy limbs and all

DELET THIS

Spoiler that shit, dude

>Sonicfags are dumbfucks that don't know what they want.

We may be dumbfucks, but the latter part's a misconception, especially when conversing with Adventure fans. They know what they want to such a degree when it comes to tone, semi-serious story, multiple playable characters, full 3D gameplay, etc.

It's not a matter of not knowing what they want, believe me, I want all of the above and never asked for wisps to come back, it's that there are too many sides to it.

There's literally nothing wrong with Red Star Rings and anyone who thinks otherwise is a drooling retard.

>duuuuuuuh why doesn't Sonic Team go back to the Adventure formula instead of doing this boost shit that's filled with corridors, no alternate pathways, automation and no platforming???

I just want a game that controls like Sonic Adventure 2. Is that so much to ask?
>Homing attacks is affected by gravity and can be used without targets
>Spindash
>High speed cap without the need of boost
>Low acceleration speed
All it needs is some polish, being able to roll while running, and some better slope physics and it's perfect.

>Colors 2
Thank god. I was afraid it was going to be copypaste Generations or Lost World.

I'm more mad about Classic Sonic than wisps. Why can't we get an actual 3D game without Sonic Team using 2D as a crutch?

D werehog-style best-em-up starring Boom Sonic, stretchy limbs and all
wouldnt even be mad

Then have 3-4 other playable characters with similar movesets and bang.

Shit, you could even include boost as another character or something. Let Blaze have boost.

And if Generations is anything to go by, Silver, Shadow, and probably Metal can achieve this too.

Honestly I don't even understand you fuckin niggers still get excited for sonic games. Like want appeal is left

Boost gameplay was never fun, unless you're a fucking dragonfly with batshit quick reflexes you're basically just holding square hoping you get lucky and don't run into some spikes or a God damn trap spring doesn't you down a path where you're forced to do shit platforming

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if sonic didn't slide around like he has butter slicked to the bottom of his shoes when you're not even trying to go fast but unfortunately no one at sonic team seems capable of preventing this

>if Generations is anything to go by
It's not.
But Metal Sonic has been able to boost since his first appearance.

>Disses Classic Sonic but also says
>"Sonic team is on crack ever since they went 3D"
The person in that pic isnt even an Adventurefag it sounds like they just hate Sonic in general, stop trying to falseflag Adventurefags as retards (most of them are but you're doing a really poor job of showing it)

more like generations but leaning to colors instead of unleashed.

Ok its shilling time once again

sonicworldfangame.com

Sonic games will be shit until they recognize Adventure gameplay is the right way to go. I say adventure gameplay losely, what I propose is this:

Main playable characters:
-Sonic (a mixture between unleashed gameplay but less on rails)
-Tails (sa1 gameplay but finish the stage like sonic)
-Knuckles (sa1&2 gameplay but no emerald hunting, instead finish the stage like sonic)

Unlockable characters in 2P & mission mode:
-Shadow
-Espio
-Silver
-Amy
-Rouge
-Blaze
-Vector
-Charmy
-E-102
-Gamma
-Metal Knux
-Tails Doll
-Metal Sonic
-Mighty
-Nack/Fang
-Bean
-Bark
-Ray
-Mighty

Levels:
-Full 3D stages with no 2D sections
-All of the levels are exactly the same for each character, but each character has different abilities that make playing the levels more fun/interesting. They are also all completely optional to play as to avoid autistic screeching.
-all levels are similar to unleashed day & night stages

Hub worlds:
-hub worlds are similar to unleashed and adventure the explorability of adventure with all of the fun of the unleashed side missions/minigames and enemies

Chao garden:
-the chao garden from sa2 with some upgrades and a new hub
-more chao minigames

Story:
[Insert story here]

Setting:
mobius

Everyone under Omega is unnecessary

including Metal Sonic

and you put Mighty there twice.

Mobiusfag why do you insist on lowering the quality of these threads, why do you hate Sonic that much?

I love sonic that's why I post this, so people get the idea.

>mighty twice
My mistake

It's a copypasta, but it's right.

Posting the superior Sonic saving pasta:

How to fix Sonic: A complete guide

Since the Sonic fanbase is incapable of agreeing on which style of game is best for the series, and it's clear that Sega and Sonic team can't figure out what to do either, the best route of action is dividing gameplay into four categories and following a four-year release rotation:
Year One: Genesis-style 2D (Maybe 2.5D?) Sonic game
Year Two: Adventure-style 3D platforming Sonic game
Year Three: Rush/Colors DS-style 2D boost Sonic game
Year Four: Unleased-style 3D boost Sonic game
Divide the devs up into two teams: Team A and Team B. Team A makes the 2D games in years one and three. Team B makes the 3D games in years two and four. Every four years, the cycle repeats.
Alternatively, get Taxman/Stealth to make the 2D classic games and have Dimps work on the 2D boost games, and divide Sonic Team into two teams to work on the 3D games. This gives each team 4 years to work on their respective games.

Then, have spinoff games such as:
>Knuckles Treasure Hunting game
>Rouge Stealth game
>Chaotix Detective game
>solo Blaze game
>Babylon Rogues game to take the place of Riders
>etc.
Don't be afraid to outsource GOOD devs if necessary. Spinoff games aren't as critical as the main games, but they should still hold some degree of polish and quality.

Some other points
>Bring back non-instrumental soundtracks
Whether it means getting Runblebee, Crush 40, or even new artists on board, the series needs some variation in music from game to game.
>Fire Pontac and Graff
BALDY MCNOSEHAIR LMAO!
>Don't be afraid to have actual story
Black Knight is probably the ideal tone in terms of Sonic story. It can be childish and fun, but it has moments where it can be somewhat serious too.
>Get better voice actors
Mike Pollock is great and Roger Craig Smith has his moments, but everyone else is pretty terrible

>3D werehog-style best-em-up starring Boom Sonic, stretchy limbs and all
I'd be fine with that. Some improvements would be in order but it's good enough.

I still think it's going to be Rush style with a new character, though.

>but everyone else is pretty terrible
I loved the 4kids cast by the end, but in the transition, the only characters that regressed to me were Amy (who definitely got better by Boom) and Shadow (who is only slightly more tolerable as of Lego Sonic).

Tails's Colors/Generations/Lost World voice actress was good, as is his Boom/Lego Sonic voice actress.

it's dumb as shit, but they're still a part of the current storyline and Sega really hasn't shown any sign of them just up and disappearing

people who like 2D gameplay are getting mania
people who like boost gameplay still generally hate the prevalence of 2D sections in modern sonic's stages

really, SA2 Sonic with targeting, separated buttons instead of one action button, and no somersault would be ideal
maybe a tad bit of a forward deadzone too, SA2 is a hell of a lot less controllable on a DC, 360, or PS3 controller (with a smooth, circular stick gate) compared to on the octagon gated GC controller, playing Final Rush on the DC was pretty scary just because of how much more effort I had to put into not missing my landings compared to doing it on GC

also, I'm still continually mad at how the Homing Attack has been handled post Heroes, fuck that awkward upward bounce shit
and I'm especially mad at how it is in the Boost games, killing all momentum for a non-targeted homing attack is absolute garbage and has killed me much more than me careening into the abyss because I missed a homing attack in SA2 has

This entire post fills me with unbridled rage

>Roger Craig smith
>a good voice actor
>more boostfag games
>more 2.5D games

Kys

>but everyone else is pretty terrible

Rouge doesn't sound like a chain smoker anymore from the 4kids cast. Her new VA doesn't sound like she's smoking a pack.

But didn't we see Classic boosting in the first trailer.

It's not like trailers are 100% representative of the games.

they are easier to shit out.
its no surprise that 2D boost segments in modern stages tend to range from "ok" to "awful"

The 3D sections aren't great for platforming and having just them would be dull. They realized this and that's why its still there.

fuck off shotty

>Sonic finally getting a beat em up style of gameplay
>they ruin by making Sonic slow (on purpose) and control like ass with awful hair pulling platforming sections
>Knuckles beat em up never

I ain't gon let it get to me. I'm just gon creep.

Do you just look for sonic threads to post this image in?

Wrong, Jungle Joyride is amazing because it has very few 2D sections.

Another adventure game, but there's only Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. And Tails doesn't race/drive a robot.

Name one thing wrong with this.

I look for Sonic threads but not post that image. If I'm already here then might as well.

Not one thing, the classicfags and boostcucks will never allow it

>there's only Sonic, Tails and Knuckles
WHERE
IS
OMEGA

I'm trying to avoid the slippery slope

Nobody cares about the inferior version of E-102, ai only include him in my pasta for the sake of fags that would whine if he wasn't on it, same with blaze, I hate blaze with a passion, but i know if shes not on the list ppl would complain.

>Tails
Ruined. Should be Omega with a faster version of Gamma's gameplay.

While you're at it, give Knuckles levels that have him get to the goal instead of looking for Emerald shards.

>E-102
WORTHLESS CONSUMER MODEL

The only classicfags that don't like adventure are the ones that think sonic never should have been 3D at all. And most of those aren't even sonicfags, they're just people who played only played sonic 2 as a kid. Most classicfags would take an adventure game WAY sooner than they'd have a boost game.

Just add in Amy

So do a S3&K thing. Same basic levels but different paths?

KILL yourself, E-102 is best robot hands down, gamma is shit

No, most classicfags side with boostcucks because they hate adventurefags, and see it as a way to "stick it to them". They love the irony of it and relish it.

If they could just be normal power-ups like the elemental shields instead of pace-destroying mini games, they'd be fine.

>The 3D sections aren't great for platforming
I disagree, the best parts of Colors and Generations are when they dip into 3D platforming. I think Sonic Team's just scared of putting too much of it in because most consumers are mouth-breathing retards who are scared of navigating 3D space. It's the same reason Nintendo makes the New Super Mario Bros. games.

What is boost?

>gamma is shit
I concur.

When Sonic attacks his enemies/obstacles by merely running through them by holding down a button

youtube.com/watch?v=K7DugeK1Gvw

You are an idiot. Unleashed had so many good 3D DLC acts

Even the simple ones like empire city act 2 or chun nan act 3 were great

YEAH OKAY ALRIGHT YEAH OKAY ALRIGHT YEAH OKAY ALRIGHT

>OH YEAH O-YE-OH YEAH OH YEAH OH YEAH OH YE-ALRIGHT!!!

It's strange, because the Rush Games clearly make boost work in a way that the console games can't seem to do.

What is it?

>3D Sonic
>row of gold rings
>can't get them all in one swoop
>restart

That's the only thing that bothers me is that there's not a button you can hold that makes Sonic run in a straight line and not jag to either side missing rings in the process. Maybe I'm just a autist, but that is my biggest issue I have. Sometimes I restart levels because of this.

theyre 2d.

ALRIGHT

Being 2D

Modern Sonic's 2D sections exist on top of Classic Sonic's pure 2D levels and just feel really redundant as a result.

I hope the Lego game is indicative of the writing getting better.

This is what bothers me. I'm fine with everything else (though I feel that classic Sonic should stay out of modern games since it's clear that Sonic Team can't make 2D games anymore), but enough of the fucking wisps already. They add nothing to the gameplay.

In adventure you could press Y(i think) And you'd speed dash through a row of rings.

Yeah but the 2D sections of Generations and Colors aren't nearly as good as Rush in terms of making boost work well. Unleashed is closer, but the boost is still clearly built for the 3D sections.

Is that it? Is it just that the Rush games are better built around the boost because they are limited to one set of dimensions rather than flipping between the two?

No no no, this video explains how to save Sonic perfectly

youtube.com/watch?v=I6ak3ebBep0

>it will never be 2005 again, you are 10 asking for a ds and sonic rush for christmas

JUST

When has making a franchise main character vulnerable ever been a good thing?

At least we can all agree that Rush has the best boss theme of all games.

You should play Rush Adventure and Colors DS if you haven't. Fun games.

youtube.com/watch?v=3ep8sIknduU

youtube.com/watch?v=dIZyfd6R4g4

Would it be better if you ran at top speed then you would attract rings towards you as you ran by them?

The level design.

Making the player get boost by collecting rings was a huge mistake too.

I feel like 2D sections exist purely for vanity's sake, since they give a better view of the background.

Unleashed and Rush are similar in their attitude towards recklessness and chaos. Rush is about keeping the boost going as long as possible using tricks. Unleashed is all about smashing into shit and blowing stuff up, both day and night. Both games are action packed and explosive in their approach and play to their strengths of being high energy.

The reason the 2D parts suck in Colors, Generations, Lost World, and Forces is because they don't play to chaos that Rush/Unleashed have with the boost. The boost might as well not exist in the 2D parts of these games since it just turns into your average 2D platformer.

Tomb Raider? I was under the impression that people really liked the reboot game.

Yes. Colors and Generations was 2d and 3d at the same time so they cant optimize the game play for just one.

>At least we can all agree that Rush has the best boss theme of all games.

Someone fill me in exactly on what wisps are? Last sonic game I played was generations and I only ever got halfway through (I do want to play through it but I think I'll get it in PC one day. The frame rate on ps3 makes me cry). This game is catching my eye.

Okay, let me move the goalposts a bit. When has making a main character from a franchise aimed primarily at kids ever been a good thing?

>Someone fill me in exactly on what wisps are?

they're stupid

They're ayy lmaos that have latent chaos energy stored inside them somehow (referred to in Colors as "Hyper-Go-On" energy), kinda like the Black Arms from Shadow the Hedgehog.

They're powerups basically. Depending on their color, they give you a different ability.

>Someone fill me in exactly on what wisps are?
Aliens that grant Sonic superpowers. Eggman was using them to power his amusement park back in Colors.

Apparently some of those wisps decided to stay on Earth after that game instead of going back to their home world, hence they are present in Lost World and will be present in Forces.

Huh... interesting. So why do people seem to detest them exactly?

Because they were cool as a gimmick for one game, and as the gimmick for Planet Wisp in Generations, but past that, there's really no reason to keep them around. They're sort of a crutch that Sonic Team seems to keep leaning on lately.
