Was he right? was his dreams and laws justified?

Was he right? was his dreams and laws justified?

>government "taxes" you because fuck you they're the government
>Ryan became the very thing he fled from
Yes and no.

He was the embodiment of strawman

look at ryan amusement in Bioshock 2.

>makes a city to do what you want
>gets butthurt that people do what they want

I wasn't into government when I first played this game. Anyone mind telling me what he was trying to do? What kind of government? And why did it fail

to be fair, people began creating dangerous drugs immediately

Ayn Rand fanwank that failed because objectivism is retarded.

What about it.

The whole point was that Ryan was a huge fucking hypocrite and that political Objectivism is no way to run a nation.

His motives weren't out of the lines of logic and are actually fairly backed up but I think the fact he still held rapture in high regards after everything went to fucking shit with ADAM just goes to show he was off his fucking nut. I mean seriously the guy was fucking insane he burnt down an entire privately owned forest as opposed to letting people try and take it from him

basically a mix of Communism and anarcho capitalist

it failed because Ryan forgot that people are monsters without limitations

>*people do this*
>*PARASITES SAY NO*

it's like pic related

le taxation is theft autism

>it failed because Ryan forgot that people are monsters without limitations

What. That's not true at all.

what do you think would happen when all laws and limits turns off?

take a moment to think the disaster it would cause, on-top of the fact that rapture had a drug that is 100x more addicting than cocaine

>not be an asshole
>want to make an ancap paradise for non-assholes
>assholes show up, uses asshole tactics to bend the rules and screw people over
>hur ryen is da badd guyy

Fuck it all, you are all god damn idiots.

No lie would his form of government work on real life ?

>Was he right? was his dreams and laws justified?

He was indirectly right about it when he ended up living on his own. None of his ideas work in a collective society.

He wanted a society where artists could draw and create whatever they wanted without fear of being censored, a society where science would not be bound by morality, where the great could not be constrained by the small, a society free of "parasites".

Make a city where people are free to invent and innovate beyond the realm of moral reason without fear of having outside forces like the government step in to claim or tax their work

Didn't work because people like Fontaine were bound to go overboard without any outside intervention leading to the downfall of rapture with Adam and plasmids and all that shit

I kept telling you that Bioshock 2 shat on what the first one was about, but everyone keep yelling at me because muh big sister waifu.

>Sup Forums created as image board with very strict regulamentations.
>people shitpost daily
It's in the human nature to do wrong.

Sounds like a good thing to me

You mean ADAM? Weren't things already going bad (although not catastrophically) before they found that? ADAM just sped things up a lot and everything went to hell from there.

what was bad about bioshock 2?

personally, my only complaint was the inaccurate personality of ryan. he's completely different there

Yeah. So you bring nothing but doctors, scientists, teachers, engineers and other highly educated people.

Now, which one of these should be cleaning the toilets?

He spent a whole lot of money to prove himself right, but proved himself wrong instead. At least he admitted it in the end.

Even Ryan didn't like his amusement park. The logs you find from him are pretty great.

I will if I get paid for it.

Its possible if its not under the fucking ocean

He hated Captialism, Communism, and etc.

He tried to make his own thing. Problem is he forgot the one thing that led to to the other systems failing: human greed. He became the thing he hated.

The artists, they'll do more good that way.

Sounds good but its executed as poorly as anybody with a brain that though about it for over a minute realized it would.

Meaning it sounds nice on paper but at most its a utopia and at worst its just a completely chaotic shithole with twelve kinds of murderfuckers with no sort of moral or legal constraints.

if there was a Bioshock infinite 2 (or just another bioshock game set in Columbia) what do you think the plot could be about

Honestly I love everything about Columbia's atmosphere and I think it has the potential to be a good setting depending on the time and themes it revolves around. It was a good city but the game it was in just removed all the fundamentals of bioshock

Now here's the kicker: what are you? Human, of course.

That's why it failed.

Everyone's an asshole, user. If you want to call the pursuit of self-interest being an asshole.

They shoulda built robots instead of Big Daddy's

Everything about Bioshock infinite was perfect except for the gameplay.

the setting was great, the villain was ryan-like, the concept was interesting and the plasmids were fun

BUT THEY HAD TO FUCK IT UP BY REMOVING ALL OF IT AND MAKE A COD CLONE

Can't believe this shit got a 94/100

Congradulations, the artists are now the new lower class.

Instead of Big Daddy's what?

Explain. What is wrong with that. You believe artists should be censored? Seriously?

What's wrong with a man fulfilling his potential?

No.

It inevitably descends into chaos or evolves into feudalism.

Friendly reminder that Ayn Ran died on welfare

No, because there will always be people who want more than want they have.

Also, laws exist for a reason.

Artist X over here wants to kill everyone in his neighbourhood and display their mangled entrails as his latest exhibit.

Do you still stand by what you said?

And if that sounds extreme, it's no more extreme than what outright happened in Rapture.

Would an underwater city work, no matter what kind of government?

They're artists, they were always lower class user.

Nothing wrong with them if they have to means to get what they want they deserve it.

He didn't hate capitalism at all, he was an anarcho-capitalist.

In other words, he tried to create a society which valued the free market above all else, and where the free market could function without limitation.

It could but not with those giant see through domes and shit.

>people think being free is wring

>people think communism is wrong

THEN WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF GOVERNMENT IS EVEN GOOD.

Seems like an underground city would be less work.

Ultimately his city fell victim to the ubermensch he sought to unleash from governments. He ended up using the same brute force governments do to keep unscrupulous men from ruining everything.

It would be pointless. Too expensive to set up and maintain and sustain via food imports and the like.

The constant threat of a leak or two destroying the whole city.

And of course the big question: why? There is literally no benefit beyond dick waving.

Capitalism

it's a necessary evil

Social democracy.

I don't know what the fuck went wrong

Honestly they had like the perfect set up for a non linear quest make up like the original bioshock but for some reason they got lazy like 75% of the way through development and changed everything

Old trailers obviously depicted open ended level design, and it's strange cause they had so many locations like Emporia and Finkton which could've been structured more freely

But yeah the deeds done they turned it into cinematic shit with zero tactics required, handymen don't even fill the same shoes as big daddies there's no pay off to defeating them, no little sister style entity. Just Use undertow and charge combo and you win

>He hated Capitalism

Wut

That's ultimately the question people have asked and tried to answer over the course of human history.

>everything about bioshock infinite good
>except the gameplay

You mean the shitty story. Shitty characters. Pulled punches on racial issues and moronic ending?

>but for some reason they got lazy like 75% of the way through development and changed everything

Executive meddling, apparently.

im talking about the reveals before it was changed

>Democracy

>when trump lost by 3 million votes and still got elected

Lol nope.

I can understand how someone could dislike the story, but what's wrong with the characters?

don't forget the part she used fake ID to get welfare

...

The US isn't a democracy, it's a meme.

>first trailer shows a potential exploration of the repercussions extreme nationalism vs extreme anarchism
>actual game throws it away for 2deep4you multiverse bullshit

The worse part? Many people still think Infinite is a masterpiece.

I guess I'm exaggerating there but Elizabeth really fucking bugged me. She feels like one of the most poorly written sidekicks I've ever seen and the fact that the ENTIRE FUCKING GAME is about her just makes it grating.

I wish there was an ending where I could drown her instead.

>Many people still think Infinite is a masterpiece.

Don't fucking remind me

Booker "Hey I have the same mark as this demon guy better not even attempt to cover it up" Dewitt

That's only one thing wrong with him.

>I can understand how someone could dislike the story, but what's wrong with the characters?

Not him but IMO the only characters from that game that truly stood out were the Lutece twins. Everyone else you've seen done better.

Go play Burial at Sea.

>Make a utopia for people to be as powerful as they can be without the jealous parasites trying to pull them down
>Fontaine becomes powerful
>Ryan turns into a jealous parasite that pulls Fontaine down

For a person who has literally never interacted with human being for most of her life, she was pretty fine acting like a Disney princess dancing with everyone.

Well, mediocre's a long way from shit.

I mean this IS still videogames, guys.

That's nice of you to say user, but people need a higher power to impose limits upon them.
Preferrably God, but nowadays facebook algorithms do just as well

THIS

Burial by the sea actually made be feel alot better about Infinite overall.

It's weird because I walked away from infinite disappointed but was pleasantly surprised by Burial at Sea

>person in welfare state
>gets weflare
Ok, why are you upset by this?

That's the worst part of it. She feels like the most blatant example of something that pervades the entire game: pulled punches.

Every dark and serious issue the game ostensibly covers is heavily whitewashed and toned down so to play it safe for the normie crowd to the point that they all just become farce.

I just finished it a few hours ago. It wrapped everything up nearly, but kinda depressing.

What was Fontaine even trying to do? Become god or some shit?

So was it actually good or did it just look better because you compared it to Infinite?

"The one where I'm in charge"

That's the ideal human government. If you were to ask them what government they TRULY want, that's what they'd say.

I'm not even a burger but i understand that the US are a FEDERATION of states. You know, UNITED STATES. Every state has legislative, financial, social power except for few federal things. But overall those states are a lot indipendent. Maybe to you clappers this sounds normal, but here in the old continent it's not that common.
Now, let's say that we have a candidate that likes Woody allen and smoking weed. Bam, he got 150 million votes just in NY and california, but he might not want to do the interest of states that have agricolture and industry.
This is why states have points, to let smaller states with different culture and needs to state their opinion.
Fucking twat

Nah, I think he was literally just eating into Ryan's profits with his smuggling.

>dude what if we bribed the voters with their own money
>that's pretty good, but how about importing millions of illiterate, violent savages to take welfare and keep geting voted in by the new majority
SPLENDID IDEA!

USA is a republic, but you don't need to know that, after all, even your candidate who was a former secretary of state didn't,

>america
>democracy
LÖL

Cry all you want, US is still a shithole.

smuggling shit from the surface, Ryan didn't wanted that. It was against one of the few rules he set, i can comphrend why he tried to get Fontaine

>So was it actually good or did it just look better because you compared it to Infinite?

Perhaps

All I know is I the last leg of infinite was a chore to me. I was satisfied but still wanted more from Burial at Sea

Ryan should have had his little city in a place that'd be able to sustain itself then instead of the bottom of the fucking ocean.

I have the means to fuck you in the asshole and then cut your head off. Do I deserve to do it?

It may be a shithole but it's literally the only true superpower.

This is America's world, and I ain't even a yank.

Problem wasn't necessarily with the multi universe bullshit as it looks like the idea of merging realities was a plan from the beginning if you look at certain details in the trailer

They did completely ditch the internal political struggle aswell as the major horror aspects whereas everything back in the original trailer was far more surreal on account of the tone of everyone in Columbia basically losing their fuckiny mind.

In the bioshock infinite we have today everything they had was tossed out the window in favor of a more lighthearted atmosphere and some stupid ass plot about a religious radical who wants to remove himself from the sodom below with a lamb and yadda yadda it's just stupid and really has no impact. it could've been as disturbing or rustling as the original bioshock but nope they shat their fucking pants and canned it all

Episode One was kinda mediocre overall. Fine, but not much more than fine.

Episode Two becomes a stealth game, which is really fun and oppressive. Story wise, it wraps up the story much better than Infinite did.

If you can do it go ahead, doesn't mean I won't try to defend myself and fuck you up.

Survival of the fittest.

If you want to see a social democracy, look at how Poland looks like. Actual national debt has reacher 1 trillion dollars, the lowest estimate is 250 billion.
Land of miserable, insecure people who can be bribed for a 125$ cut from their own taxes and being told they're superior to their neighbor.
The other party promises them a new identity to be proud of - "European".
Women are ugly and fucking braindead consuming shitty american tv shows.
Native population is being replaced with unironic neo-nazi larpers from ukraine.

t. polish Jew

americans are brainwashed by government. they don't understand concept of social democracy.
your system is a complete fail. you drain citizens with taxes and throw them to neets, fattys, niggers, military industrial complex.
perfect system is a balance between private and state public services.
private hospitals with free hospitals
private education with free education
you don't have to lose your all savings because of some accidents.
also if you want spend money to cure quickly, fine, if you don't have any money, fine also.
you won't understand this concept at all.americans are not people, they are greasy pigs.

Nonsense, they're getting eaten alive by the Chinese.
