Its alright but shows just how basic the game really is.

I can't speak for VIII, but apart from the loss of quality in the background art the re-release of IX is a perfectly adequate game. Not on the same level as the Advance versions of I through VI [minus III, who never got one], but I'm loving it either way. They even added a fast forward button to cull the memery about the game taking five minutes to launch every random encounter.

6-10 was the golden age. All but 8 have received high ratings and fan support and 8 still has a base.

THe remakes for 1-3 were shit. THe ports for V and VI were infamous for being bad. The remake of FFIV was decent but didn't fix any of the problems FFIV had.

No, if anything it is worse. They upped the enemies HP, damage and attack rate to try and make the game seem more difficult. But instead it just makes you grind more. And they didn't fix any of the flaws the original game had. Like getting the final class changes right outside the final dungeon.

VIII actually received the highest ratings and fan support after VII and X. It wasn't until about 4 years later that the internet started turning FFVIII into a massive hate meme. At the time it came out, most people just obsessed over the graphics and Final Fantasy name, same as FFVII.

FFV and VI are ports or 'enhanced' versions on all platforms. Only FFI-IV have gotten actual remakes. And even then it's hard to actually call them remakes besides them being on new graphical engines. The gameplay, story and everything else was kept exactly the same. Flaws and all.

That's why it's a spin-off, because it's specifically not meant to be compared with the games of the mainline since it goes off to do its own thing without needing to the shackled to the expectations one has of the franchise.

Final Fantasy Tactics sucks as a Tactical game. Having to face certain directions and not being able to reselect commands completely kills it.

I was just saying that vii isn't exactly furry pandering either, if the first guy was implying that it was. Most final fantasies use animal people as window dressing anyway. And ix and x just had furry party members so they could be the mooks that get their people slaughtered to show how super dramatic and cereal the story was. Freya and Kihmari just fill the same role that ricard, cyan, barret, and selphie do.

I don't like many key characters in IV and IX. Their stories are also a bit more stupid than I would like. III has much more customization and player choice in general than them. Also III's thin story comes together very well, when you consider the protagonists as six year old siblings, so they only understand it simplistically. As a bonus III is difficult and has many unique monsters for the series, because they haven't been reused. (This is the game where you learn that gil are coins, because one of the enemies is a bunch of fake coins.)

IV is above IX, because of five member party and fast ATB.
