I need tips on how to not be useless in this game, I keep getting my ass handed to me after reaching Gran Soren
>playing the wizard class >go out into the world >get quickly killed by any bandits that want to attack me, arrows filling me >have to keep running around aiding my pawns who keep dying >if i want to do a quest the place i have to go is through loads of tough enemies, had a lot of fun killing a troll and a chimera but bandits and a lone swordsman keep kicking my ass >all quests are on the other side of the map miles away from gran soren >escort quests are too hard because bandits kill the escort and then they kill me >my spells don't do much damage
I feel like being a wizard was a mistake because the abilities that all the other classes have look way more fun than charging up a spell and seeing it bounce off most enemies
Please advise

you're playing it wrong
Logan Roberts
>he can't handle being a mage
Go change your vocation then you dumb cunt
Jackson Roberts
Who is your main pawn?
If you play a mage, you should make your first pawn a figher, they can keep the mobs attention for long enough that you can cast your deadly spells.
Don't worry, it gets easier, then harder, then easy again then fucking harder.
Welcome to dragons dogma.

Sorcerer is very very strong end game, but the play style is kind of boring if I had to be honest. That's why a lot of Pawns are mages/sorcerers.
Isaac Bailey
two of my pawns are fighters and the third is rook because i like his occassional heals. i keep finding though that when i run into a group of bandits that there are so many that inevitably one will focus me (either a rogue with daggers or an archer). and when that happens all i can do is try to jump away because the hits interrupt my spells
Zachary Morgan
Are you a mage, or a sorcerer? Mage is basically a pawn class, you dont want to be playing that. change your vocation to sorcerer in the gran soren inn And the start is tough, Go back on the path to the starting village, and look for alternate routes to take, easy enemies for free exp on the way, and a cyclops if you break off the path. do a few more quests around the starting area, or just explore some.
Andrew Martinez
Abandon rook, Look for a new mage pawn. make sure they have a heal, multiple elemental buffs for you and your party, and some more offensive spells. rook is also probably underleveled at this point
Asher Ross
Bandits with shields are serious business for some reason.
Andrew Cruz
I thought pawns level up with you though
Tyler Rogers
Your pawn levels up with you, no other pawns level up with you
Aaron Lopez
How important is gear to how well my character performs
Jackson Peterson
Very important, probably more than levels damage i mean, not armour, always go for fashion
Brandon Gutierrez
That's what I like to hear
Xavier Kelly
Not very important in terms of how they themselves perform. Your pawns performance is all about their skills and Inclinations, Inclinations being the most important factor.
Ryan Cooper
How do you guys train your pawn to spam aggro? Also who here gifts rotten pumpkins and what is the proper etiquette for borrowing pawns
Gabriel Gomez
>Step 1 Make a Loli (For strategic reasons) >Step 2 Only wear Silk Panties (For strategic reasons) >Step 3 Play assassin, climb enemy Thousands of kisses.
>Step 4 win
Dominic Reed
>playing the wizard class Cut that out.
Camden Harris
post them pawns
Eli Cox
This. This game is forgiving in letting you redo your play style without babysitting you with a tota respec.
Anthony Wright
Depends on your class. Fighters and Warriors are great at drawing aggro.
Matthew Howard
There's your problem. You should pick up fresh pawns very regularly.
Extremely important for weapons, somewhat important for armor. Stat gains from equipment completely trivialize anything you get from leveling. The further you get in the game, the more true this is. This also means you should feel free to switch classes without feeling like you wasted levels. You will obviously be slightly more effective in classes you level as for a long time, but equipping good gear more than makes up for stat differences.
Scather and Challenger inclinations do well with this. The Guardian one is actually not that great because your pawn will stand near you.
Henry Richardson
>playing the wizard class There's your problem. Wizard is frankly super boring. I had a lot more fun switching to an archer class. Fighter was fun too. Perfect block feels really good.
>But magick archer! Had some nice utility, but still didn't do much for me. I hate the projectile lock-on and the bow skills don't feel satisfying.
Jackson Bailey
mage to sorcerer is the strongest route don't listen to the haters. Just learn to keep your distance until you get stronger spells
Asher Nelson
Go level up and get better gear, this isn't some skyrim shit where everything is scaled so you can beat it, go back near cassardis
Andrew Hughes
Min max recs.
Also, wolves hunt in packs.
James Campbell
Don't minmax.
Zachary Brooks
>I feel like being a wizard was a mistake because the abilities that all the other classes have look way more fun than charging up a spell and seeing it bounce off most enemies
Why did you pick wizard then???
Angel Jenkins
respec as a warrior, teach your pawn to be a sorcerer, give them elemental buffs and a heal

because i didn't know it was going to be shit? because i thought, if all these other classes are cool, then being a fucking wizard must be cool too?
