Not really. Maybe in the 90's or PS1 era but now? What you showed was the last major Sentai console game, and it was 5 or 6 years ago. And one singular 3DS game.

So what the fuck are the super sentai transformations supposed to do? Do they experience any actual physical changes? Are the suits supposed to be super tough? It always bothered me that nobody ever bothered to explain what kind of power up the transformation is. At least not in the power ranger series.

depends on the series. Some are tech, some are magical, some are based in mythology and some are more grounded with the villains being a criminal style orginazation.

yeah but what does it DO? I watched most power ranger series up to SPD I think, and the one time I remember the suits giving any sort of super power was in turbo where it made the shitty kid grow up. I don't remember any of them doing anything they couldn't do without the suit on. I'm pretty sure I never saw any cars being lifted.

If I had to explain the power up to someone all I'd be able to come up with is the apparently increased resilience.

I'm pretty sure that 98% of those billion Kamen Rider games suck ass. I remember playing Battride War a few years ago and my eyes were bleeding from how ugly the graphics were. On the other hand, the Kabuto game on the PS2 was baller as hell. The Clock-Up shit made that game much more fun than it had to be.

The fact Kamen rider games get on PS3 and 4, and not on the Wii or DS, speaks volumes to me. If you specifically go for the Wii or DS it's because you wanted the game to be as cheap as possible.

PS3 and 4 games can be ass but they are different kind of ass from Wii and DS games. Wii and DS games generally get their assness from trying to force shitty gimmicks.

In general I've always enjoyed KR more than any Sentai stuff I've tried. Ex-aid is only middling IMO compared to my favorite Rider series but I'd still rank it above any Sentai shows I've watched (which admittedly is only two, namely Kyoryuger and ToQger, but I didn't really feel the need to watch more). Not to say Rider doesn't have stinkers (Ghost, Wizard) but overall I just find it more enjoyable, more varied and less predictable/formulaic.

I haven't watched a new Kamen Rider since OOO other than Drive. I've heard people recommend Gaim, but what others are worth watching?

Gaim is the GOAT, Fourze is as good as w and OOO but expect something different.

Everything else is either bad or meh. Ex-aid is pretty good but it's only half done, it can still shit the bed.

Fourze, Gaim and Ex-Aid are worth a try (especially Fourze). Wizard and Ghost should be avoided, unless you want a lesson on how to make a shit show.

I started with Wizard as it aired and I mean, I don't hate it but I definitely don't like it. Has great suits but that's about it. Dropped balls all over the fucking place. I firmly believe the roidmudes in Drive are what the Phantoms in Wizard shoulda been.

I started on Fourze, which I liked. I also really liked Drive and Kuuga.

The sad thing is that ghost makes it look good in comparison since it at least had a secondary rider.

I don't mind. I really enjoyed the aspect of a main character being the chosen one from the start and completely living up to it, being so fucking cocksure. Kagami was the real protagonist anyway, you just didn't realise it.

For stuff since OOO, Wizard and Ghost should be avoided, though at least Wizard has some things to like while Ghost is just nope. Fourze, Gaim, and so far Ex-Aid are worth a go.

Either way they're both the worst fucking things KR has ever done. Only real competition oddly enough is two very similar things Chase's bullshit gold form I don't even remember the name of and Tachibannerson coming back after having a based dead scene for no reason.

The suits give super strength and inproved jumping and running on top of the tankyness you mentioned, it just doesn't show that well because of both budget and because they fight monsters that are on par with their transformed state. Some rangers also have other, more overt superhuman abilitise in costume, or can only use their weapons while transformed.

Kamen Rider is a bit better about this, since they print stats showing that this rider can give 8 tonnes of pressure with his kicks or so forth, but that's all supplemental.

I tried watching drive and got like 2 episodes before I thought it sucked. Primarily the costume of the rider. That's about as far as I got into Kamen rider.

The old shit looks far more entertaining, desu.

It got a spiritual successor on the GBC, Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue.

If people say W, they're either an idiot or a memer. It's a hit or miss show that has one of the worst female leads in any KR series.

Try Fourze if you like anime, try Faiz if you like soap operas, try Gaim if you like Urobutcher anime and try Den-O if you like comedies

I like that the villains are some massive CLAW style criminal orginization instead of mystical space witches and alien empires. I also like the theme of card suites. I find the animal/dinosaur rangers to be the most boring generic shit.
