Convince Platinum to stop shoving shmups into every fucking game, get Itsuno back on DMC, and convince executives to give what are guaranteed not to be mega hits a good budget and time. Avoid open world/multiplayer/DLC/'cinematic experience' cancer and let the base game launch with just one character.

so many of the later games in the genre have a "new" move list and scoring system in lieu of a real idea
It was nowhere near what they wanted it to be, in terms of both sales and the game itself. I have hundreds of hours into it across all 3 releases and there's no way even I can deny it, they even had that little presentation showing off how unfinished all of their ideas were.

It is still memorable and lots of people want another entry, unlike Evil Within or Devil's Third

Most of the time it's the usual JC'd KBee, Cerberus or Aerial Raves. Gunslinger requires ground because it's more efficient to buffer shots with C.C. Quicksilver use CC a lot because DPS
DMC3's options are much more diverse than DMC4 in general, mostly because DMC4's air moveset is much more useful than the ground's (especially Lucifer)

Nigger what the fuck? Ninja Gaiden is the only entry here with combat that doesn't revolve around juggles, GH a little less so.

Unlike point and click adventures/crpgs etc. the skill level required to create them is too high for devs to "revive" it like the kickstarter/digital distribution renaissance. you can cry some indie stuff from china/japan or whereever but you and I both know that those games are lacking whether it's content/enemy or even combat design
Games in general are too expensive to make for such a small niche in this particular genre to be a viable investment for publishers which is why Platshit is putting a lot of loot and rpg shit tacked on to their games lately: To allow shitters to just win via pure number grinding than skill. And why Team Ninja has been working on musous and that Souls like souls game with souls elements or pure garbage since Razor's Edge. Less said about Capcom the better
It's too late. Casuals aka the majority have already decided that BamHam/AssCreed is the best combat ever. Easy, simplified, highly accessible combat that easily impresses casuals with le cool one button take-downs even though it has the depth of a puddle will take precedent over harder, more challenging, more mechanically refined combat since the latter takes legitimate practice (more than just a couple of minutes of mashing a button) to actually start becoming rewarding and flashy.
Souls become a phenomenon because of that. Everything's possible
