What genre is least played by grills?

I've played PoE and D3 the past week and have come to the conclusion that grills don't play ARPGs.

Fighting

Girls play anime MMOs, or basically any MMO where the end-game consists of getting cute outfits.

They also play any game with built-in mic support, like Overwatch, TF2/CSGO, most console games, just because they enjoy the attention they receive for having a girl's voice.

Oh and hidden object ""puzzle"" games, point and click adventure games, VNs and basically anything else where there's no actual gameplay.

Grills don't play VN's. Steam profiles w/ anime girl avatars are 100% never girls.

I think the biggest factors are requiring to use your brain or have some skill and not being generally very popular

Things like infinifactory/factorio/etc, dwarf fortress, fighting games, real roguelikes

nah, honestly curious and want to hear opinions about it. Met cute girls that play shit like grand strategies and classic games from like 20 years ago, but never ARPGs or fighting games.

any games that have DIRECT competition usually have less female players than other games.

games with indirect competition, such as trick or skill showcase videos have a lot more women in them than the previous type of competitive game. maybe because this sort of competition rewards creativity as well as skill, or because it's simply a way to show off and not necessarily to put others down.

Lots of girls play Rocket League and Overwatch and play them both legitimately.

I don't mean to condescend but those are not the type of competitive games that I mean, I meant actual competitions and not a 'competitive mode' option in the game itself.

Oh yeah, they have no social desire to participate in tournaments. That's mostly for guys who are desperately trying to feel important in their own vague way.

I'm a girl, and I love the concept of ARPGs, but I just can't find any that I like other than Diablo 1&2. PoE seems really fun in theory, but, in practice, I'm really bored every time I play it, and it just feels tedious.

Well, to be honest, I haven't played it in a few years, but I feel like I could pick it up again if it had some real HD/widescreen support. I wish I could just play a new, GOOD ARPG, though.

There are some good ARPGs, but they tend to fly just below the radar. Victor Vran, Wolcen, PoE, etc.

Yes they do when you include cell phone and facebook games, those statistics you are thinking about came about after jack thompson from groups wanting to show that everybody plays games. Unfortunately video games are a hobby that most females are only familiar with on a casual level.

As a grill I mainly enjoy all types of rpg followed by strategy. I do fit the bad at fps stereotype but I still enjoy them. Its mostly a personal preference thing.

I know, I get that, I'm saying it's a silly argument when for all actual, serious games males make up the majority.

The whole discussion is goofy. Why do we -need- more women in video games, why not just make good games first and then just observe audience appeal rather than butchering a game to try and get it to appeal to a certain market? The whole girls in vidya discussion just plays right into viewing vidya as a corporate thing rather than as an art form.

(actual) roguelikes are probably your best bet, but I've certainly heard of a few grills playing DF Adventure Mode

Why is OP so fixated on arpgs and fighting games? Why those two genres in particular?

I was fixated on ARPGs, some user just mentioned fighting games and I thought it was a good point.

In all honesty I made this thread in a vain attempt to get a girl to play some RTS w/ me since my gf hates them and some other chick I gamed with hates me now. But in the last 10 minutes it dawned on me how sad this is and I am considering just closing this tab and going to bed or making this one of those very long nights.
