Teach me how to play Mahjong, Sup Forums. Should one always aim for a hand that has the same suite (like all bamboos + dragon/winds) and is it ok to have pons and chiis in a single hand?

go for pairs or suits like 1-2-3

There need to be at least 4 tiles left to be drawn from the wall in order to declare riichi.
In your program, you can't see how many are left.

You need to have all the possible hands memorized so you know which you can get to quickest. Unless you're really far behind winning quicker is always the best option. Normally that means going for pinfu.

Chi and Pon are noob traps, since opening your hand limits the possible yakus.

Then you end up falling into the intermediate player trap of not knowing when to open your hand.
