>Raven's DLC came out
>nobody cares
So now that the dust has settled, can we safely say this game isn't as great as the first, especially in the story?
Raven's DLC came out
Other urls found in this thread:
if Sup Forums is not talking about it's usually a good sign. Unless the game is NBA or Fifa Sup Forums not talking about it is at least an indicator the game is decent.
I agree with you but the GR drones won't.
He's talking about the underwhelming free DLC that just came out.
I know. Sup Forums not talking about anything related to GR2 is a good sign. Let's keep that way.
How long is the DLC?
>"This DLC is going to explain everything about the children from the last game and their lack of prescence in the main story."
>"We just kinda erased them from the timeline."
>'But wait, doesn't that retcon GR1's plot?'
>"muh bittersweet endings"
That's twice in a row this game's ending sucker-punched me.
They advertised 5 hours. It's actually more like 2.
I don't really feel like setting up my ps4 again to see it can anyone sumarize the dlc.
>hey raven do this thing
>okay now do this other thing
>okay now do some more things
>okay we're just gonna fuck with time & memory wipe you k thx
Li'l Ghandi might be the worst character in the series.
played it yesterday. it was alright and closed what happened to the kids and the ark.
the boss fights were done better than in the base game but ravens gravity kicks are pretty OP. you fill the SP even when they are gurding your attacks so you can easily use her super.
finshed it in around 2 hours.
Overall, GR2 is a vast improvement over 1. I have yet to try Raven's DLC because I have school stuff and Nier, but it's fucking free so whatever.
i hate stories with time travel. Always so counfusing. ghost trick the only game with time travel that dont make my head explode.
Because she's not cute!
I actually appreciate that they try to do something different with a lot of the sidequests, could have cheaped out and copy-pasted the same shit with different dialogue
Instead I got to help a dog search for its frisbee
My nigga, just replayed that too.
>that fucking 3-man job to rewrite history and save everyone's lives
I almost wish Capcom didn't end it so perfect cause I want anothet game, it's way more fun than Ace Attorney.
no vita, no buy
>First game is rushed
>Second game is rushed
>DLC is rushed
Just make a digital comic at this point. Videogame industry is fucked.
DLC was pretty mediocre desu.
Maybe neither are good? She's not even hot.
I loved GR2 but the new DLC is kind of shitty in all honesty. It's a little like playing DMC1 right after playing DMC3/4 - you miss Kat's style switching, especially when Raven's corkscrew kick brings back bad memories of whiffed gravity kicks in the first game. Story wasn't much to write home about either.
How do I play as Raven in the mines?
Do I need to beat the DLC first?
>How do I play as Raven in the mines?
You don't? There is no free roam as Raven.
Then why the fuck has everyone been telling eachother you can?
That's all I heard in these threads all day today and when I get home to finally play now you tell me there is none.
I mean that's fine but for real why did people keep saying that then?
There's a news item that specifically says you can play as Raven while mining. She gets a droprate boost as well.
Not sure if you need to beat the DLC first but you have to go out on the mining boat to whichever mining spot and Raven appears before you go down in the cage.
I've only tried it on the Jirga mining boat. Not sure if it's the same for the Hekesville one.
Thanks, probably do have to beat it first then.
Raven DLC should not exist. Not only it's a drag to play, it also shat all over the lore of the game. Raven's Choice is Mass Effect 3 of GR series.
>people actually wanted 5 hours of this bullshit
>everyone's memories are erased except new nonchalant gary sue creator boy who ruined main story endgame
I wish I could erase my memories of this shit.
>This had a price tag at one point.
The Raven campaign was pretty weak. I'm mainly excited to get more trench layers. I just wish gravity storms weren't set on an invisible timer.
Just finished it.
I'm disappointed, mostly because it doesn't really answer anything.
Also, the gameplay was... not so great.
The Collectors in particular, they're very annoying to fight.
I'm fine with the resolution, really.
As far as lore goes, it seems sound?
Kat never meets Brahman before GR2 if Raven erases the need for the Ark, and therefore the need for the experiment that Brahman spearheaded.
It's a lame resolution that ultimately makes Boutoume in GR1 a non-event, but so it goes.
I realize this also may impact Cyanea's possession by the Dream Guardian, but it seems like Creators play by their own rules as it were, and maybe Cyanea was always going to host the DG.
My big lore problem is that I THINK I saw Neu Hiraleon in the sky over Hekseville, but you're not allowed to go up there, and the story has nothing to do with it, or the two guardians from Overture that never showed up again.
It's obviously related to Brahman (Dirga and Kali being kidnapped in Overture), but for whatever reason those two robots(?) are never even mentioned.
I don't understand why that district was suddenly introduced, only to be destroyed and mostly forgotten.
>It's a lame resolution that ultimately makes Boutoume in GR1 a non-event, but so it goes.
It makes majority of the first game not happen because Raven was one of the driving forces behind game's story.
Also
>finish the DLC
>Raven sees Sachia and Zaza running around (which already makes no sense because how could Raven exist if she is Sachia)
>if the bus never crashed to begin with, Sachia and Zaza should be around 60-70 by now because the reason they were kids in GR1 is due to them spending half a century in Boutoume
This DLC is not just disappointing, it legitimately makes me mad.
I kind of want JSStuido to adopt modern gameplay conventions but the trade off is their footprint and uniqueness as creatives. GR2 isnt as good as the fitst imo and wouldve been better as a shorter game but it was still gravity rush at its core and i enjoyed it. Including hecks in proper HD was an excellent touch
The Sachya and Zaza at the end are the original Zaza's grandchildren. This Sachya was named after Grandpa Zaza's imaginary friend.
Not that it makes the whole thing much better.
I'm actually in the trench now. It made me fight the Gravity Machine on layer 30 again.
On layer 34 so far and every enemy hits like a train.
Well that's at least some bullshit out of the way. But how the fuck Sachia not being on the bus not made it crash anyhow?
Bus driver couldn't keep his eyes off her and caused the crash.
>how could Raven exist if she is Sachia
Causal loop.
Another thing, why did they yet again allude to Raven being a part of Kat, and do nothing else about it?
Any idea what's the deal with Lumino's portraits? The shading on his face is completely different from other characters.
Also, both Lumino and darkness lady seemed like cool chracters. Wish they were in the actual game.
Why do people even like the first one? The controls are awful, the gameplay is repetitive and too simple with very little variety in missions or enemies and the plot is a clunky mess. The world could have been visually appealing but even the remastered version is greyed out and monotone.
All it has going for it is the soundtrack but you don't play a game for the soundtrack.
GR2 was definitely better, any combat section in the first game I never even had to pay attention to because I just pressed one button over and over.
Haven't played the DLC yet since I didn't have time yesterday
I kinda just figured they were drawn by a completely different artist or something. If their intent was to juxtapose with the simple & less detailed world of Hekkesvile's characters, then I think they got that off well, but the characters were handled in a real retarded way. If they held off all the endgame shit for a third game, and actually resolved the Ark without buttfucking 1's plot in the main story, I'm sure those two could've fit into the story somehow, and the story would feel like less of a rushed wash.
I thought it was comfy. Granted, my first time playing was on the Vita, and at the time, the gyroscope controls were really fluent and impressive, and the fact they fit all that world n shit on a portable device was impressive to me, so that kinda kept me hooked. I'd play it again, but my Vita's screen cracked and bled out, the warranty didn't cover it, and the price is still way too expensive for a handheld game with almost no homebrew support to validate a new one, so I'm stuck playing the PS4 version, which is still comfy, but not as impressive.
The potential.
>There is no free roam as Rave-
It's a lot like Psychonauts in many ways. It's creative and fun despite having mediocre gameplay, it works on the world and its characters, not the main story or gameplay. I think the moment the game really clicks with people is Infernal rift plane, I've seen a lot of people mentioning that level as being one that really pushed them forward.
Also, the world is is mysterious and journey to the bottom of the Pillar was extremely engaging.
Sequel tweaks almost everything. Despite being times longer than original game, it never became a chore. First game really dragged on after you return to the city.
If it wasn't a game you wouldn't be able to fly around and that's the fun part retard
Wasn't it a disappointment?
>retcons GR1
>no free roam
>short as shit
>no costumes for Raven
I want to protect Raven's smile with all my heart
>poor mans infamous
>why is it shit
kek
>poor mans infamous
That's Prototype. Gravity Rush, if anything, is closer to Spider-Man 2.
infamous that is a poor mans prototype.
Which is why a babby's first fanfic tier DLC is a red flag of the end times.
Not with those N64 buildings in the first game.
nah nigga, that comic book style of telling certain story parts is definently ripped off Infamous
It's a free DLC that was supposed to be a part of the second game but was removed to not confuse newcomers t. removed because of how shit it was
>end times
Second game IS the ending.
Prototype plays better in pretty much every way. Infamous games have never been better than mediocre.
Anyway OP, I didn't get around to playing the DLC yet. I agree that the original game is better, although 2 is still very good. It has many improvements over 1 but the story and many of the missions are far worse designed.
>kek
Actually it's ripped off the French comic that inspired GR's entire visual aesthetic.
Y'know, like how inFAMOUS ripped its aesthetic from American comics.
2 is better than 1
>Prototype
It's combat is good but the rest is so fucking boring. Infamous 1 and 2 are better
It began to drag on around episode 17. I hated episode 19. The first ending gave it a breath of fresh air, but again episode 22 dragged on for way too long. The rest was alright.
Too much padding with some cool side missions.
>Actually it's ripped off the French comic that inspired GR's entire visual aesthetic.
Nigga that's not what i mean, i'm talking about how they're using it inside the game to tell a story was something infamous literally did, don't care about the actual art.
There was a screenshot of Raven that I forgot to get saying
>they just don't know when to stop!
Which should've been the tag line of this game. Almost every mission went on entirely too long. Just went you think it's over, they make you do more. It's just felt like a drag. The first one was so unique and charming. The second one was a huge letdown
You make it sound like infamous is the original.
>two games developed half a world apart
>both take influences from (different) comics
>one is directly copying the other
user
Please.
It's not like inFAMOUS was the first game to do it, either.
I died so many times against the giant collector because Raven would totally miss her Gravity kicks
>line up kick perfectly
>she just spins off into the distance
Ghost Rider?
>Prototype plays better in pretty much every way.
Not it doesn't you shit eater, prototype is stiff as fuck and only focuses on mass destruction copmared to how versatile Cole's ability were
and kek NOBDOY cared about Prototype and was always knows as the mediocre clone of Infamous
Because the freedom of movement is unlike most games, you're completely free to move in 3D space, which is appealing on its own. The combat while barebones, was a solid core based on making the most of your movement, that just needed to be built upon (which 2 did). And the world IS visually appealing and unique in its vertical architecture and limited land space.
It's flawed, but if you can't accept flaws in a game then I fear for your ability to enjoy 99.9% of video games.
She did that shit in the main game too. I don't understand.
Kat's kick practically homes in on enemies, but Raven's is almost afraid to make contact.
A lot of my kicks in the DLC went completely off course. I'm not really sure if Raven's kick is awkward or if I'm just shit. I'm probably shit.
I kinda liked Raven's drill kick at first but I quickly missed Kat's style.
literally name another original super hero game that did this then that had no relations to real comics
You're retarded ass thinks i'm talking about the actual comic story or art when i'm saying how they used in game is definently took that shit of Infamous
also
>two game devs that are literally owned by Sony can't be aware of each others work
You're not shit Raven just handled weird. It was also annoying if you were too close when you did her kick she would just totall miss the enemy
Project Gravité goes as far back as the PS1 era.
Infamous is PS3 era.
>goes back to the ps1 era
This explains why it's the most "video gamey" game I've played in a long time
>prototype is stiff as fuck
Go play the game before judging it. Prototype is extremely fluid, especially compared to clumsy Cole's movement.
Stop arguing about things that people figured out when those games came out. The consensus always was that you play Prototype for gameplay and Infamous for story.
>You're retarded ass thinks i'm talking about the actual comic story or art
No, I get it. The game uses comic panels to deliver story.
Not at all originating with inFAMOUS.
On another note, thunderstorm killed internet here, so I'm phone posting. I think Raven mumbles something if you switch to her on mining vessel while returning to port, standing next to Kat.
I thought it was cute, even if it did ruin the story.
There's also the Nier and Horizon collab costumes to look forward to.
>Horizon
What, is Kat getting an Aloy costume or something?
Its something from Horizon is all the GR Design Works book hinted at.
Source?
I love it but the combat in 1 was better and story was more focused. Lunar style is the shit though.
>the combat in 1 was better
Spamming Gravity Kick sure was a great combat system.
It already happened in the main game. Thats why no one mentions zaza and the ark and why bit calls her an instabily near the end.
>combat in 1 was better
Fuck. No.
>combat in 1 was better
Game is on sale so I just bought it.
Raven caught it in that weird white world, so she couldn't be in two places at once.
It's five hours long and mostly a boss rush, there's not much to talk about.
What French comic was that? Moebius?
Tap square a lot and it works
But the story of the first one sucked.
What i really meant was that i was less shit at fight in gr1
It certainly is NOT five hours long. Stop spreading misinformation. It's 2 max
wen
Not posting again because my name showed up, but I saw on ps4 videos a Japanese player looking at a comic cutscene with 2B in it. Or Kat with a wig.
2>Prototype>First Light>Second Wife's Son>Festival of Blood>1>>>>>complete shit>>>>>>>>>Prototype 2
It's pretty boring desu.Hear it gets better later, but...
It doesn't, it actually gets worse.
