>Bioware Edmonton and Montreal symbiosis is broken. Lots of conflicts and bro culture. >Lost over 13 leads (game design, art, audio, prog, senior core leads, etc) in 5 years at Bioware Montreal on Mass Effect. Edmonton lost only 3. It is clear that Edmonton has the bigger part of the stick when it comes to purge Leads and Producers who are not aligned with their leadership style. >Putting people on performance improvement program (PIP Program) is the new tactics to get rid of people. Once again more than 10 people in Montreal got slammed with this bureaucratic uppercut to let go people that are not bending to Edmonton leadership styles in the last revision cycle. This approach is used by the Montreal Leadership to purge the mess from the lack of vision cause by upper management in the last 4 years (throwing people under the bus to protect bad core management) >Renaming crunch to Finaling mode. Which means company pays for your lunch but you have only 30 minutes to eat and then getting back on the keyboard. Was lasting for over 2 months and was a real catastrophy. >Retaliation and harassment is sadly a reality. If you talk and ask questions you will be tag as a trouble maker and end up in a bad position. >Many benifits got cut due to too much time extension to get the game done. >HR won't help you out. They will deny the current harassment from Monreal management by ignoring and not documenting the facts. In other words if you leave don't talk. Just let it go...
>anonymous poster shit talking a company everyone loves to hate right after a terrible game came out So much credibility on display you'd have to be a fool to do anything except believe it 100%
Ryder Ward
Nepotism. For younger people.
Isaiah Rogers
employer was computer geek and got triggered by normie talk >hey want to go beer after work? >reeeeeeeeeeeeee
Zachary Cook
>glassdoor
okay
Justin Hill
Not surprising, sadly.
Easton Hernandez
>"N-no, I just wanted to animate great games" >lead facial geek got fired the next day >no one could figure out how his animation rig works
Nathaniel Nguyen
It's was posted last year you fucking sperg. You're as retarded as OP is for even thinking a shitlord user poster is even somehow relevant at all. Dude was probably shit at his job if he was put on a fucking PIP. You have to fuck up really bad CONSISTENTLY to get put on that.
Owen Jenkins
funny its just about when they announced delay
Justin James
Basically, the Patriarchy. Despite appearances Bioware is very anti-female and discrimination is commonplace.
Camden Gomez
>shitlord Way to out yourself you nigger
Ian Robinson
>Renaming crunch to Finaling mode. Which means company pays for your lunch but you have only 30 minutes to eat and then getting back on the keyboard. Was lasting for over 2 months and was a real catastrophy. 30 minutes of breaktime is somehow a "catastrophy"?
Robert Edwards
>Basically, the Patriarchy. Despite appearances Bioware is very anti-female and discrimination is commonplace.
this.
Jose Torres
He probably didn't mentionned that during crunch time you usually finish working at 3 in the morning.
I know it because that's how it was for me. And 2 months of finishing this late + working weekend completely burn the teams out.
Mason Parker
>bro culture >in the SJW HQ known as BioWare
Nigger, what the literal fuck?
Robert Kelly
Do you know what crunch time is?
Joseph Stewart
look the leaders of bioware, bioware and other "sjw western studio", these studios are worse to work there for women than japanese studios.
Adam Rogers
Are you for real? Manveer, no?
Noah Peterson
I worked at Ubisoft for some times. Despite all the "WE ARE INCLUSIVE" communication, in the inside nobody gives a fuck about it.
Why? Because nobody wants to work with an unskilled and annoying coworker just because he's black. And if this is still a shocker, let me reminds you that every investors and higher-up in teh companies don't give two flying fuck for "diversity" if their products don't sell and their teams are not working properly.
This whole "Diversity and inclusiveness" is just a screen to deflect any outside criticism and to avoid PR disasters such as Asscreed unity stuff.
Blake Ortiz
That text must be switched. No way you can go back so much
Dominic Anderson
I do know what crunch time usually means However, the guy defined Finaling mode thusly: >company pays for your lunch but you have only 30 minutes to eat and then getting back on the keyboard
Brody Butler
>performance improvement program (PIP Program) What is this entailing?
Easton Robinson
Citation very much needed.
What the fuck does one anti-white Poo have to do with "bro culture"?
Andrew Diaz
To me it just looks like EA hired a bunch of temporary interns to work a AAA game. They were hoping the brand name of Mass Effect alone would make people overlook how bad it was just like Final Fantasy 13 and 14
Jaxson Lewis
Sometimes this scene fucks up very badly. So you need to restart your game because you can't progress.
>And if this is still a shocker, let me reminds you that every investors and higher-up in teh companies don't give two flying fuck for "diversity" if their products don't sell and their teams are not working properly.
Yahoo is proof that this isn't always true.
Owen Reyes
At least FF13 didn't have interns doing the animation and modeling work
Gabriel Smith
>game dev is a shit place to work
more news at 11
Caleb Brown
Yea, it's every other day in big boy industry.
God damn, video game designers are babies.
Jonathan Nelson
maybe this guy was even too inclusive and diverse for bioware
and as he saw some coworkers go out to get a beer on friday or stay in longer to play a couple matches of video games he dismissed them resentfully as BRO CULTURE
Samuel Parker
Straighten up in 30 days or you're fired usually
Luis Bailey
I would be embarassed to work for Bioware. Like that's something I wouldn't even put on my resume. I'd rather say that I was a MMO raid leader than say I worked on mass effect andro.
Daniel King
> Like that's something I wouldn't even put on my resume
Well, that chick who was the lead for facial animations did actually take that out of her resume, lel.
Ryan Carter
If there's crunch time happening, it's because there's a failure in management.
Xavier Rodriguez
>This whole "Diversity and inclusiveness" is just a screen
i can get behind that, but why aren't the incompetents given window seats where they can't do any harm? why do the diversity hires' "work" actually have to be used?
its fucking maddening, watching something tear itself apart to appease what ends up being nobody
Aiden Rivera
EA buying out Bioware was the begining of the end. Then the doc's left and pretty much all of the people who cared about games left too. A lot found jobs in other sectors. It's sad to see what Bioware has become.
Jaxon Fisher
Every video game project has crunch time. Discuss.
Jonathan Garcia
A FUCKING LEAF
Justin Morales
That's because they're all badly managed.
Carter Myers
Because feelings user
Lincoln Sanchez
They should have made this game XBOX exclusive.
Landon Russell
The staff was probably taking to many 2 hour lunches to the point where management had to step in because they were behind schedule. Which is all super sexist and triggering.
Jaxson Flores
because video game devs are actually bottom barrel graduates with no foresight. The good one go into big corp to develop specialised software.
Mason Diaz
>but why aren't the incompetents given window seats where they can't do any harm? Check the "Peter principle". At Ubi I worked with absolute idiot that were given very important decisions, but they were here for 20 years, so you just can't kick them out.
Juan Carter
Don't forget - this review is based on perspective. Incase anyone needs to be reminded, SJW nutjobs think everything is sexist, everything is racist, everything is bro culture and you need to point it all out. SJW's think all "non normie" gamers are "bro culture". They paint all gamers with a "patriarchy bro culture" brush so they can attribute the sexist banter found on COD to the JRPG fan criticizing their lack of coherent arguments on twitter.
Who the fuck uses the term "bro" culture other than SJW's who don't even play games. It's like the manspreading thing.
Adam Edwards
>Which means company pays for your lunch but you have only 30 minutes to eat and then getting back on the keyboard.
this is considered bad? i get 15 minute breaks at my job
Parker Rogers
>Incase anyone Yes, please.
Liam Collins
It's bad when you live in SJW areas like Montreal or Sanfran
Chase Foster
I doubt it. But just the rumor is enough to make their current target audience boycott so I guess bioware is finished.
Alexander Evans
In the US 15 minute breaks are a shit job that is doing the very minimum. You apparently don't work full time either.
>they want to raise the minimum wage AND have 2 hour breaks of doing nothing before spending the rest of the day developing cataracts from staring at a screen all day.
>mfw there's always a high chance of death in my trade and the breaks are only 15 min and that's fine. whiny fucking cunts
Easton Kelly
Jesus how much are american people detached from reality? How can america even be superpower with this kind of attitude? If I asked my boss to give me more than 15 minutes break I would be immediately fired. Not just me but pretty much applies to almost everyone in my country
Landon Bailey
The difference is that you can easily replace people in your industry because they don't need any education
Mason Perez
i dont work in the US im an industrial electrician. pays much more than being some game dev
Zachary Carter
>electricians dont need any education
go ahead and redo the wiring in your own house then, faggot
William Bell
Entitlement is very strong in America.
Cooper Green
>high chance of death for fucking electricians hahahahahahaha
Jaxson Morris
i can tell is actually working for your living a dead idea among white millennials? i know the illegal spics are all over that shit
William Rodriguez
1 in 50, friend
i've already lost 2 mates too stupidity this year so far
Justin Lewis
Not american but I can imagine that is the case. People complain about spics stealing their jobs but honestly I canĀ“t imagine some millenial working in a factory or as a cashier. Everyone just takes a loan, goes to university (so they can parasite off their parents a little longer) and then they try for years to find some cushy office job. Im just looking forward to that day when this entire rotten structure will finally crumble and we will be able to start anew
Robert Lopez
>you have only 30 minutes to eat
Wait, this is how my company is all year round. Are you telling me that's not normal?
Jason Jones
This triggers me pretty hard. Bioware deserves to crash and burn.
Juan Fisher
>an American company is terrible to its workers and run by idiots This is literally every American business. Why are we calling it news? Even their government is like this.
Tyler Roberts
Where I am, most places give you a Lunch hour and at least one 15 minute break. If you work for an international company than that 15 minute break includes any bathroom trips
Robert Lopez
>American Bioware is mostly leaf, leaf culture is run by idiots but is usually good to its workers
Austin Cruz
The note here is supposed to be that "it isn't crunch" because the company is paying for your meal on the break.
30 minutes out on a schedule with required overtime, but "Hey, it's not crunch, fellas! No one leaves. Here's some Tim Horton's or whatever's popular in Montreal or Edmonton."
Would you particularly find a sandwich and 30 minutes a justifiable gimme to avoid calling "crunch" by its now extremely negative name for a corporate structure notorious for fucking people over during crunch?
Tyler Hill
'Cosplaying experience' suits her CV better, I'd agree
Jeremiah Hall
Seems like Bioware pulled a Konami. Bully your own workers until they quit on their own
Jacob Gomez
>all these shills defending bioware
kek
you've already lost, EA
Ayden Edwards
1995'er here, working cashier.
Not all of us are spoiled pricks. Only the rich ones.
Grayson Roberts
So aside from bad animation, is the story, plot and gameplay any decent tough?
Evan Hughes
Story is weak, plot progression is more like Dragon Age Inquisition with muh batman scanning shit in it and the gameplay is alright, but they ripped the final boss fight straight from Mass Effect 2
Josiah Gutierrez
Worked in staffing for 5 years, I used to get in arguments with friends about immigrant labor and the truth is they are just better employees.
They get paid exactly the same thing, we save money on them because they're actually fucking productive
Isaiah Peterson
As someone who works in marketing I would find it acceptable to see my kid for 5 mins a day without being on the phone at the same time.
"O my god, I can't believe for two weeks out of a 5 year project I have to pull doubles and have lunch provided for me! Slave labor, slave labor!"
It's pretty evident the laziness of video game virgins has extended past high school into the industry itself
Sebastian Wood
lol no
Daniel Evans
>they even removed the squeezing animation from the fingers
Grayson Clark
> anecdotal evidence is truth.
Okay.
Colton Johnson
This. I've never had a company pay for my lunch either, it was always bring your own, or some days they randomly bring in a food truck so you can buy it yourself.
Angel Diaz
That's fine, I'm not writing a scholarly paper just sharing my experience.
I've never heard an Indian complain about free lunch though
Daniel Powell
Glassdoor isn't exactly anonymous. You have to prove you work at the company in question to some degree.
Nicholas Campbell
First off its not laziness or entitlement to expect your employer to keep to their agreements, which is the key issue here.
Second, AAA gamedev is difficult. I don't understand this unwillingness to accept that. It's just like any other job, there are parts that aren't as hard as others and parts that are orders of magnitude more onerous.
Finally, crunch is not two weeks. It's never a one-time deal on any project. EA management is notorious for having their teams do multiple crunches throughout a single phase of development, even.
Anyway, all anyone wants to do when these kinds of Glassdoor reviews come up is talk about how hard their own shit is like other people complaining about their job means they have to point out how whipped they are.
Everyone benefits when employees discuss unfair conditions or practices. If gamedevs whining about getting 30 minutes for lunch during crunch time upsets you, maybe go negotiate a longer break for your lunches instead of telling them to deal with it.
Luke Garcia
i think it's more about the 2 months or crunching than the lunch breaks. you know what crunching is, right? and if your day at the job lasts 16 hours, maybe the 30 minutes lunch break is harder to swallow.
Liam Stewart
>harder to swallow just like turian cum lol
Logan Bell
> electricians are so stupid they die a lot
You're not helping your case.
Landon Lee
>i've already lost 2 mates too stupidity this year so far >too stupidity your mates might lose you soon mate
