I've given it two tries a few years apart, and it was just as shitty the second time around. Is this an inside joke, or am I the 1 in a hundred who doesn't jack off to this game?
How is this shitty game #1 on Metacritic?
You probably just have shitty taste, it's a common problem
This. He also may not have played it.
Try the 3DS version. Less offensive looking and less painful to play. Its pretty good.
You a faggot.
Was about to say this. It makes the Water Temple much more bearable.
EH REH
>there are people who didn't play Ocarina of Time as a child
people only like it because of nostalgia. It is unplayable now.
>dude fastest way to walk around is side strafing or rolling everywhere
Yeah I can't wait to side strafe through hyrule field 20 times
The only game that deserves to be called the " citizen kane" of gaming.
It changed the way games were made from that point forward.
The camera, target lock, inventory, open world elements, controls.
This and Mario 64 helped shape the world of 3d games for the next 10 plus years.
>There are people who can't appreciate the plethora of innovations this game made for the industry even if they haven't played it when it was released
>Haven't played it as a child
But OP is clearly a child user, who are you talking about?
nice post
I played it on the 3DS first and the console second.
No, faggot.
The fastest way is walking backwards.
here have a kill yourself
And when people say citizen kane it means revolutionary by design and industry shaping.
Last of us is not " citizen kane " because the game is basically a movie. That's retarded.
I'm not? You really think this game wasn't made for kids?
So sad
OP is the kind of splerglord who goes by the logic that ends up like this;
Mass effect Andromeda is better than Deus Ex because games have become better over time. "better controlls, better graphics. better voice quality"
It's the same reason Halo:CE has a 97 score, it was far beyond its time and changed how games where made
That doesn't mean if you go and play halo now that it'll be the best game you've ever played because it's now dated as fuck and after all the hype things like the story are glaringly awful
>taking metacritic scores seriously
How anyone could use metacritic scores as a valid measure of the quality of games is beyond me. Metacritic should only be used as a vague indicator as to whether a game is good or not, not the be all end all of a game's quality.
No halo is 97 because of microshit paid reviews
It might just not be your bag, OP.
It's a good game, trust me, but the fact that you don't like it doesn't reflect poorly on you either. Roger Ebert didn't like Die Hard. Die Hard is definitely a good movie, and Roger Ebert definitely had good taste, but he just didn't like it. Sometimes these things happen, so don't worry too much about it.
You have a bad taste in videogames
>not HESSing
I liked it
So do nintendo
Lol ok
Were you born AFTER the game came out? Yes? That's the problem.
you're stupid and are underage ban.
shit taste, casuals, and no artistic eye whatsoever. That's triple faggotry.
I don't understand this. Maybe I had problems with it when I was 8 and the game just came out, but if you're older than 12, children's games puzzles shouldn't be hard. I can get through the Water Temple in 15 minutes, and it shouldn't take anyone older than 12 more than 30, tops.
>Implying Zelda invented lock on in 3D games
So weve established you have shitty taste
There was so much to do on such a small cartridge.
Another big reason is nostalgia
Nostalgia is why I like it more than majoras mask since I only played MM when I was much older. Despite MM being potentially a better game.
Did goldeneye not do lockon before zelda
Why do you guys even reply?
Water Temple is, design-wise, the best temple in the game, but having to constantly re-equip boots is just a pain. No one says it is hard in this thread.
That was automatic lock-on, different than Z-targeting which was player-selected. Still OoT didn't invent locking on
Old man here. You have to understand that when the game came out it was revolutionary, there hadn't been a 3D "open world" game before this, ro at least not a polished one. If you go back and play it now as someone who has grown up with games that have features similar to, or derived from this one, you're not going to appreciate it as much as people like myself did when the game was released.
On that note I realise I was already 18 when this game came out. Kill me.
I've spent time observing other people playing OOT, and my conclusion is that most people don't notice the hole that opens up in the central tower after you raise the water
this is literally the single only reason people think that level is hard
Didn't golden eye come out after OoT?
>there are people who didn't own every gaming system as a child
anyway op must be glad their parents are idiotic manchilds
you are not a normie with horrible taste
by looking at Sup Forums Sup Forums and reddit/r/gaming i noticed that both are filled with nostalgia fag normies. Both of you should kys or stop playing faggot games for manchilds.
Games are rated for when they came out.
The 3DS version is objectively better but has lower score because the game isn't that impressive anymore.
The "normies"make no sense. What games do weirdos play then?
>Implying it didn't
You won't be able to mention anything that isn't just auto-aim.
its aged really fucking badly, also games are reviewed when they come out not 20 years later
it's a shitty 3d ripoff of an actual good game
>it was good in 1998 but it's shit now
then why is this game still good in 2017?
kill yourself ocarinafags
No.
It's not bait, asshole. You faggots sure love your bubble.
Ocarina is better than LttP in every way, and I grew up in the SNES era.
You're the only one on earth mot affected by the spell. Truly the most special of underage snowflakes
I'm not underage.
Do you idiots even realize what you're saying?
Of course not
Goldeneye is even older than Quake 2
Because a wizard on Nintendo set up a curse on the game, everyone with a weak mind falls under the spell.
Only you and I are not affected by it, we live in a world of sheep, be proud to know you are part of the few to be enlightened kid.
So what? I'm sure a lot of people don't share your taste in movies or music, too.
Thank fucking god. I hate LttP fans act all elitist about things the game flat out does worse than OoT. I'll give it credit for having enemies that actually attack you, but it really has nothing else over OoT and there nothing about it that otherwise is more in depth or better constructed than any aspect of OoT.
Its one of the worst 2d Zeldas
It's just so distasteful to me that it blows my mind when other people defend it by attacking your character.
Good job OP, you insulted their favorite childhood game.
>It blows my mind other people like things I don't
It must be hard when you are on the minority then.
>shitty taste
>common problem
thats exactly why ocarina got such high score.
OP actually has good taste
>1 in a hundred who doesn't jack off to this game?
Well basically, yeah user. Otherwise it would be "100" if everyone felt good about it.
Yes is your answer. Yes you are in the small minority, but that is still ok.
Do we really need this thread every couple of days
You're too young to understand.
OOT was literally one of the first modern 3d games.
Every 3d Zelda since has its roots in OOT.
It's like comparing SM64 to Galaxy.
No, 90% of the people here are calling me underaged and shit. Fucking manchildren.
I have the same feeling when people talk about the final fantasy games. For me it's obviously shit, but then there's millions of fans to defend it. OoT was good for its time, imo. Early 3d games were shit for the most part.
Nostalgia and the fact that the game broke new horizons that practically paved the way for the next generation of gaming.
Lol@Opinions.
>normies
We have a special kind of normie though. The Sup Forums normie. They are just as meme fucks as your regular "gamur XD" normie but take a diffirent kind of pill.
Just like "normies" feel compelled to say they like Zelda and "pixel art culture", Sup Forums normies get tricked into thinking about this boards culture instead. They think darksouls is the best series ever made, they talk about secret club games like yakuza all day but then add "how do i get into this series?" And generally act like meme shitters and feel confident to call everyone who disagrees with them reddit/tumblr/9gag as if posting on Sup Forums is some rite of passage that absolves them.
Faggots foreget we all ysed to post rage comics like just 5 years ago, but the new breed of Sup Forums poster is fucking worse, because they still just post in memes and do whats expected of them, not what they want to do but feel dead special for doing it.
>I have the same feeling when people talk about the final fantasy games.
I don't, because FF has undeniably shit game play and interactivity and gets by on presenting a feeling of progressing on a journey.
>all these fags who didn't have a ps1 saying Nintendo invented 3d games
The Water Temple is not hard, it is tedious. You constantly have to equip/unequip the iron boots using the slow ass gear screen. 3DS version fixes this by having them be a normal item you can toggle on/off with a button press.
Except I played and beat SM64 and galaxy a couple months ago and enjoyed both.
>this user coming up with fake claims for the sake of feeling superior to strawmen
Funny, I actually had no problems on the N64 variant, but got the runaround on the 3DS version.
That's just what someone who's made this same kind of thread every day for the past 2 months would want us to believe.
>if you don't agree with our collective opinion or don't think OoT is the best game ever made then you are underage
never change, Sup Forumseddit
This. If you didn't play it when it came out then you'll never understand. Trying to go back to it now, it looks like a dated piece of shit. It didn't age well.
But when it first came out it was like nothing that came before it. It set the standard for the genre. Every game that came after was influenced by it.
All the things that have been done a million times in adventure games by now hadn't been done at the time. It was the first time. Obviously if your first 3D adventure game was something that did everything Ocarina did but better you won't be able to appreciate Ocarina. But when it was the first time it had ever been done it was magical.
Birth Date: August 2001
>never found this room during my first run as a kid.
>no internet back then
Remember that, you can work around it. I had found a shitty trick as a kid that required to reset the console when you had a certain amount of keys, to skip a room or two.
Fun times.
>what nintenbabies actually believe
It's pretty gud OP, you're just too accustomed to modern games. Ocarina is better than about 95% of games released in the last 5 years but that isn't even saying much. Most of the real good shit has already been made and gaming has really only evolved graphics wise, most new games are aesthetically butt ugly but they have a much higher graphics quality. Really try to get into the classics and you'll see what I mean.
the 90s was an era of unrelenting first party wank. no one really thought about what was good or not, just if it came from nintendo, sega or rare. it took until the psx and its third party library got big to kill that cancer off. nowadays people just say it's 'the best game of all time' without really thinking about why.
The game is pretty bad and can't even be considered good for its time either since it's an uninventive rehash of link to the past.
Don't assume this to be true or a trend just because of a few contrarians. I played OoT emulated for the first time just a few years ago and it was mind-blowing. The game is extremely modern as it is, knowing it's age only made it more impressive in my eyes.
b-b-buh...but... D:

G-GOOD FOR ITS TIME!!! :D
This post says more about you than it does about the game
Mystical Ninja did everything Ocarina of Time did, better and a year before.
Not only was OoT not a good game, it wasn't innovative/groundbreaking either.
Pretty much the same. Never touched OoT growing up (didn't have an N64), first time I played it was the 3DS port. Loved it enough to play through the Master Quest version on a GCN emulator. Hated MM.
OoT is great. TP too.
Plethora!
Skipped N64 :(
Had an SNES as a kid then Gamecube.
>inventory
You do know that the Ps1 came out 3 years before OoT, right?
TLoU is a "Citizen Kane" because it raised the bar on video game story telling to a new level.
I agree it is a bit too much of a cinematic experience but none the less it is a true innovation in the direction of story.
It gives video games more artistic merit.
>Hated MM.
As expected of a degenerate twitter screencap poster.
But it's rated number 1 on IGN and Gamespot and every top ten list ever, you must be baiting. I bet you hate HL2 as well idiot
Yes, you are the butiful snowflake who sees the truth that the stupid lambs are too blind to see.
Honestly I'm surprised to hear that you liked it. I guess you were able to view it through the lens of "this came out 20 years ago", which I think is the relevant part.
Even I think the game sucks now, because I've played games that do everything it does but better. In order to defend the game I have to think back to why I liked it so much when it came out, which comes down to "this is the first time this has ever been done".
...
The best band of all time is The Beatles
The best film of all time is The Shawshank Redemption
The best game of all time is Ocarina of Time
If you don't agree, you are underage and need to go back tooooooo........
!!!
