Ok I need help remembering a game I played like 15-20 years ago. PC game, released right around the time windows XP came out. action RPG but I don't remember the game having a leveling system. The game had great graphics for the time, and I remember you could decapitate and disembody the corpses of the creatures you would kill. Combat was VERY difficult and unforgiving, Monsters were insanely powerful. The entire game was very dark and the premise of the game revolved around these magic swords you had to get to eventually take down the supreme badguy.
I remember each class had a different starting location, however there was only like two starting levels. You had to play through every level but you had a choice of what levels you could go to next. Pretty sure the game had "Dark" in the title, but it isn't fucking dark messia. I'm also 90% sure the company that made the game had a logo that featured a chessboard and a knight chess piece.
I know the game relied on a convoluted combo system that involved movement and sword swings to execute specific combo moves that were actually required to kill anything in the later stages of the game. I also remember the big bad guy had a weird fucking shield that was red and made out of bone. And everything could break. Please for the love of god help me.
