Witcher

So I am finally getting around to this game. What am I in for?

sexy times

I've read about moral choices not being super obvious and affecting the story much later in the game to prevent "safescumming".
Is this claim valid? And do the choices of the first game transfer to the sequel?

A good game with a nice world, nice story and Shani.

It also has dreadful combat and is the reason I never played past the 2nd act :) sorry kids I do love the witcher world but I'd literally rather play planescape torment for the combat compared to witcher

hoo hoo click le cursor and spinny spin.

Combat is by far the worst aspect of the game.

One of the best adventures

The combat gets a little better once you start fighting multiple types of enemies at once constantly swapping styles on the fly but unfortunately you have to go through act 2 to get to there and as much as I love the game I don't really blame you for quitting there because it's a real test of patience.

Playing for two hours then quitting.
Then coming back weeks to months later and getting a little further until quitting again.
Then again but get to act 4 and don't want to stop.

in very minor ways. having the save does give u good early game gear. and gloves you'll never want to take off.

Make sure to set the camera to overhead view and movement to mouse and keyboard for a RTS experience. OTS camera is cancer.

Props for actually trying out a decent, but ten year old game that aged poorly.

It's very overstated what effect your choices have on the game. Even now and again you'll have some event happen that is determined by a seemingly innocuous decision from several hours earlier but none of it really matters. Same for goes for the big moral choices. There's only one story in The Witcher and while there may be the occasional detour every now and again there is only one way forward and the ending is always the same. The effects your decisions have on subsequent games are little more than cosmetic.

You gotta catch them all!

I wish more games would have factions akin to the Gothic series. You still went through the same story, but from destinct perspectives.

Some fun and interesting characters such as pic related

Boring prologue, boring act 1, horrible act 2 and then the game out of nowhere becomes excellent.

Either make the attempt to get to act 3 or drop it altogether.

This is the best character in the game. I wish you could save him.

Also another interesting character. Gameplay is serviceable but the lore is great. Read the journal entries and books.

Never thought I'd see the day where I'd be calling other anons casuals for not being able to complete games.
The Witcher isn't even a difficult game to play through. It's genuinely immersive and actually fun. If you guys are bored by The Witcher you have no hope for even older more dated classics.

Be prepared for find out your mother sucks dwarf cocks

Just get Gothic 4 Arcania instead user. They stole the guy from Nioh's whole look this shit's just weak

shit combat+ tryhard mature story for mature people such as myself

shitty combat, 2dark4u plot, and tons of nerd porn.

Top bait.
Arcania is shit, especially if you compare it to the older Gothic games.

>2dark4u plot
Here's how you can tell someone has never played The Witcher. TW2 is the one with the 2dark4u plot. The Witcher 1 was a medieval peasant bedding simulator with every other quest poking fun at itself.

epik just epik

you guys are the real videogamers

im so glad this board is the way it is now XD

lets have another andromeda thread LOL shit animations sjw cuck cuck

Second half of Second act is most boring shit i've ever played.

>A good game
true
>with a nice world,
I can confirm this
>nice story
Ehhh...
>and Shani.
FUCK THAT BITCH!

Good to hear, havent played in 6 months last thing i remember was Sherlock homes dude was waiting to do an autopsy or some shit so o could go to a wizard tower how long till it gets good? Might pick it up again.

they are right thoug. the initial hurdle is pretty steep. combat is lackluster, story convoluted and unengaging at first. it gets better if you can stick to it for a while. for some of us it takes three attempts.

>The effects your decisions have on subsequent games are little more than cosmetic.
There are a few minor advances in Witcher 2.

For example, if you side with Siegfried, then you can use him to get into Loc Muinne in 2.
