Here's your controller bro

>here's your controller bro
What the fuck were they thinking? And why did they keep the horrible design for GameCube?
If they wanted to make a layout different from PlayStation's, you don't have to change it so drastically (just look at Xbox)

Thank fucking god Nintendo is now making normal gamepads instead of unergonomic monstrocities for three-handed aliens

They designed it for two play styles. Holding the side handles for platformers and just the middle handle for first person games.
It's REALLY stupid and something that could have been done better if probably just one person wasn't being stubborn about their innovative solution, but there's a (flawed) logic behind it.

I agree with the n64, but hold the fuck up. The gamecube controller is easily the best controller Nintendo has ever made. It fits nicely in your hand, the buttons are layed out so you don't need to look at it to know which button is which, and the thumbsticks are great if you keep the rubber bits on.

Don't act like you didn't get X and Y confused until you realized it was in relation to the coordinate plane

That's not the point. I like that the buttons are different shapes. That's it.

but you hold it like that for 3d games dumbass, never played with a n64?

>Game Cube
>horrible design
(you)

Also the only faggots complaining about the N64 controller are underage who never used one.

I always just held both side handles. The joystick is accessible if you don't plan on running for president

No, I never got x and y confused because I can remember the position of two buttons.

sont ggers try to meme it's a bad controller when it's light years ahead of their counterapart of the time

Explain that joke so I can laugh at it maybe.

The N64 controller gets too much flack. It literally brought the small analog stick and triggers to home consoles. Psx only had a directional pad.

How the fuck else should they be, you fucking mongoloid? Never been to primary school?

>Triggers

>LAMO drumpf has tiny baby hands! xd

Trump's small hands, I assume.
Not that funny, but it's a joke.

that is fat level of lazyness tbqhpham
you are just being retarded
here, have a )You) so you can do more stuf flike this and end with cramped hands

> normal gamepads instead of unergonomic monstrocities
Seen the Joypads lately, and how awkward they are to hold?

>Free minigame wins in Mario Party because others had to look down whenever it asked them to hit X or Y

I liked the N64 controller alright at the time, had two of them, but I think we need to discuss the elephant in the room which is that it has by far the worst d pad of any nintendo controller ever made.

The layout's not the problem, the control stick is.

...

or people who used dualshock with analogs and know how much more comfortable it is

Nope, buttons still were illogically in placement and/or form in comparison to the more rational, symmetrical and cleaner, less obtuse and more functional and ergonomically designed Xbox and PlayStation controllers.

There is a reason why PlayStation and Xbox controllers have changed minimally throughout time while Nintendo has not been able to achieve a more consistent and less varying design. There design philosophy may be based on innovation, but not on common sense.

The new switch of course is a great example of, maybe innovative, but in the end, complex and not reliable design. The thumbsticks placed illogical in the context of weight placement in the palms, moving and (even worse) removable parts, sliding parts, needless assymmetry, etc.

At least they were cunning enough to create an extra, regular controller for the switch (to make even more money ofc).

Fun fact: the lubricant used in the N64 controller analog stick couldn't be used in America because legal reasons.

the gc controller shape is good
the dpad, button layout and c-stick are awful
the system can't even play fpses and traditional fighting games because of it

I know you're BEING SILLY, but the boring answer is that even back then Nintendo were being safe and wanted the new controller to resemble the controller of their previous, massively popular system (SNES) so that people wouldn't be scared off by something completely unfamiliar.
I bet they were kicking their own asses when Sony and third-party manufacturers came out with pads that just moved the analog stick to the left and got rid of the third prong.

...what?
Playstation's gamepad is that exact design except with analog sticks on left and right instead of the center.
It's more familiar to SNES than N64's.

Oh. Yeah that's a thing people say I guess. Here I thought it was something too clever for me. But it was the opposite.

Me too, fellow big hands bro. Just keep that thumb hovering over the joystick for pinpoint precision and control. If I tried to hold it the "normal" way I was basically digging my knuckle into the stick and it would fly all over the place.
