Am I right in thinking the AI in this game is absolutely complete bullshit? Pulling my hair out. Can't even win in Novice championship.

DEAR NINTENDO
I AM NOT PLEASED
Play redout
Wanna use my Nintendo Switch
The AI is sometimes shit user
But was even worse in Fast Racing NEO on WiiU
Maybe trying different cars can help, i. e. you can dominate Hypersonic League with Rochdale Trust
>cars
What?
It's coming out for the switch
Vehicles
Heavy Flying Future Ships
Whatever
Yeah, coming out. Meaning I can't play it yet dummy
Seems to be a big problem on the Switch.
People have been complaining about rubber banding but Shin'en (the devs) are adding a several free content updates anyway. Maybe asking on their twitter would help a bit. They seem really active there and talk to fans often
also git gud
B-B-But I said not to say INB4 Git Gud :(
Sorry, son. No room for weakness
It certainly feels like they're cheating. I'm around 90% win rate online, but can barely win any races against Medium AI.
Hey, OP! Is this you?

if not, then somebody already inquired about the AI. Looks like the devs are saying it is possible to beat the AI even if it is difficult(plus they give some tips on how to do it) They don't mention tweaking the AI in the next update but we can hope
Not me. Hopefully they hear him out though ;_;
The problem is that a lot of developers, particularly indie developers, consider their game being hard to be a goal.
You'd have to prove that you can't win consistently even with literally perfect play for it to be an objectively bad thing.
Maybe look up some gameplay and try to do what they do?
Have you been able to beat the AI on highest difficulty?
No.
I don't support the idea that harder is always better. Not sure if that's how you interpreted my post. My point was that a lot of developers take complaints like that as a badge of honour for no good reason.
There doesn't seem to be a difficulty. It just seems to be faster in different championships.
Certain tracks seem to be near impossible though, even on low speeds
Well, no offense but being hard is kind of a staple characteristic of AG Racers so it's certainly not out of place here. I just wanna know if it's been impossible for anyone to win
ABOUT THIS VIDEO GAME
Which tracks are you struggling with? I'm just curious. Maybe I can give tips

On that note, there's being hard with and without being challenging. The Ratchet and Clank devs did a good podcast on something like this, but the basic idea is that the player shouldn't feel like elements of why they lost are stripped from their control, but at the same time you want to alternate between them hanging on by the skin of their teeth and having a breather.
Rubber banding is a weird case because it creates a neutral state where one really shouldn't exist. In practice, it makes the only meaningful part of a game the final actions before the end, which feels bad for obvious reasons once it's noticed. It's extremely unrewarding to be smoking your opponents for 2.5 laps only for them to zoom ahead of you because you nicked a wall at the last second. Instead of doing that the whole way and then driving well at the end.
Rubber banding in multiplayer scenarios should be against the Geneva Convention. Fuck that shit and fuck anyone who does that.
Neo Kyoto in the Palladium cup. Cannot get better then 4th place. The harder I race the worse I do it seems.
You got me there. Best I've done in that race is 3rd place. It's pretty damn hard. I hope the devs can make certain races a bit easier soon
Yes you absolutely are. Look at any speedrun of the original on Wii U. You can do crazy tricks and make unintended shortcuts and the AI will still zip right up with ridiculous speeds. Its why even though it was a pretty fun game on Wii U I didnt repurchase it on Switch.
It's probably the devs answer to leaving the AI behind. I remember almost never seeing the AI racers even on the highest difficulty in Fzero. Shin'en probably wanted to avoid that and make it seen like the AI is always on you. I do hope they pull some of that back in an update though
