Story of Seasons

I needed a game to get my Harvest Moon fix, so I picked up Trio of Towns based off of everyone's recommendations.

What am I in for?
Any tips?

Are you the user who couldn't decide between Trio and Back to Nature? :O

I am not. The game was getting a lot of praise so I picked it up today.

I too have got the game but haven't played it yet, tips would be great.

Is this one good? I found it kind of cheap and it seems pretty comfy.

Some general tips:

You're going to want to hold onto the various herbs and plants that you find on the ground. You might need them later.

Eventually you'll get the option to upgrade your farm tools. Hammer and watering can should be what you prioritize.

The trait you pick during character creation doesn't really matter.

Once summer starts you'll want to plant quite a few tomato plants. They can be used in simple recipes and let's you recover stamina easily. Sweet potatoes are the equivalent for the fall season.

Raising the stats if your animals is a slow process, so get on that early.

That game is good, but it has some real problems. Like the performance and grinding.

If you got it for cheap then I'd say it's worth your money.

Is this the best Harvest Moon on the 3DS? I want to get one for the 3DS, but it has like 5 or 6, and apparently most of them aren't very good (acording to some reviews and opinions from differents forums).

Trio is the best HM game on the 3ds and the best the series has been in a long time.
You're choices on 3ds are pretty limited

>Tale of Two Towns
A poor port of a meh ds game

>A New Beginning
Really fucking slow beginning and involves tons of item hoarding

>Story of Seasons
A decent game filled with questionable design choices and performance issues

I'm not even going to list Natsume's fake harvest moon games. Those are basically shitty mobile games. Stay away from the fake HM series.

Also:
Veteran Mode is a very apt description. You have the stamina of an old war veteran.
You can give Dessie gifts by both literally giving her gifts and throwing them into her pond. She likes wildflowers. Do both once a day, because she gives you stuff. Do not do it until she appears though, because otherwise it's littering. Her pond is the one she stands next to.
Upgrade your house ASAP. Even if you have to blow all your money buying materials or something, just do it.
Do the farming tips ASAP. They unlock a bunch of good stuff.
For at least the earlier Town Link rank unlocks, it says you have to ship X things harvested from your fields/animals. You can just buy that shit from a store and shove it in the bin and the game doesn't care.
To quickly up Westown's town link, if you're on Seedling, once you've upgraded your house, buy as much milk as you can afford and turn it into hot milk and sell it. Soon enough it'll stop being a slight loss and start being a slight profit, AND you're buying a shitton of stuff from Westown. Try doing the same for the other towns once you get recipes you can make easily enough. But lolLulukokohasnothing.
It or Rune Factory 4 are the best ones, probably, though the others have their own stuff going on.
Lost Valley and Skytree Village are not the actual series, but Natsume trying to cash in on the name (which they own).

Get wool + (buy a sheep asap and raise its bybroduct level)
Collect all seasonal seeds as soon as they become available and hoard them
Plant coconuts asap
Collect all herbs you find and hoard them
upgrade the hammer to max asap (also hold onto an non-upgraded hammer)

I'd say pick the charming trait it'll save you time on befriending/romancing folk.

Why don't you just get Rune Factory? Literally Harvest Moon: The better version

You miss some dialogue with that though. It's pretty easy to raise friendships thanks to festivals too.

Adding onto what this user said,

You can get coconuts by shipping 300 fruit tree crops to lulukoko.
You can cheese it by buying from the fruit stand and shipping it back to them.

Grapes and Cacao are also important.

>You can get coconuts by shipping 300 fruit tree crops to lulukoko.
>You can cheese it by buying from the fruit stand and shipping it back to them.
>Grapes and Cacao are also important.

Absolutely wrong. That does not unlock coconuts that unlocks lemons.

Because I've already played Rune Factory

are we ever going to get over calling it Harvest Moon?

It's been harvest moon for years so its not likely.

It does not. That's how I unlocked coconuts.

I looked on Fogu, I shipped the fruit, I got my coconut seedling.

I had the coconut seedling far before I shipped 300 fruit. I'm telling you its not correct.

I'm pretty sure that's how I did it too. I only unlocked lemons recently, but I've had coconuts for the longest time and I did the 300 fruit shipment trick.

I'd love to, I just say Harvest Moon because most people think Story of Seasons is just a rip off of Harvest Moon and are unaware of the name change.

Fuckan Natsume.

>You can't buy the Coconut fruit from any shop, and the tree seedling doesn't unlock until you have reached Rank B with Lulukoko OR you have shipped at least 200 tree fruit to Lulukoko.

Coconuts also unlock after Lulukoko hits B rank. You sure it wasn't because of that?

Kasumi is love.

Yuzuki is a better girl.

Where did you find high rez marriage cards?

I didn't. I snapped a screenshot from my game and ran it through waifu2x to triple the resolution.

That's neat user, you did a good job.

Such a thin waist, but she's got a nice figure.

laws have failed us, how the hell can't Marvelous take Natsume to court for fucking them over that bad?

It's just a name. One that they created and hold the rights to. There's no case.

It's not like they own anything besides that name.

Because Natsume legally owns the name and is allowed to do what they want with it.
Which is apparently 'make mobile trash' instead of selling the name or making actually good games.

I will sexually harass this little girl!

That is your little sister

I'm calling the police.

Now I will sexually harass this brown girl!

That's perfectly fine.

Kill yourself Wayne.

No one mentioned any farm animals though.

It could be Ludus

I'm want to impregnate the qt teacher!

Hey, I've got dibs, harass her sister instead

eu release when?

It's a name attached diretly to the Bokujomonogatari games though, you can't just buy the rights to something just to shit on it, it's slander, Marvelous has to deal with a marketing nightmare because of their ill intentions.

When Nintendo of Europe publishes it since they hold the rights, strangely.

Get in line

...

This game is too cute

>fishing festival
>realized I never got my fishing rod
>end up catching no fish
>team still manages to win
ok

Just got married to Kasumi and decided to set the game down and got strongest post-game depression in a long time my god. Maybe I should go back and try to finish SOS1 and finally marry Elise

You better eventually go back and impregnate that awkward spaghetti spilling teacher, user.

>actually did reach year 3, unlocked the last two countries and married Elise, and also left a second slot with most of the heroines reverse proposable just so I could see their events if I ever felt like it
>fucked up in transferring my saves, and got sent back to Year 2 Spring
There is no greater pain

It's too lewd to be cute.

It's both. Cute lewd.
A heartboner.

Ford is a deviant.

>Tatsumi tells you his teacher was thinking about you and couldn't focus during class
That was cute

Also all the sheer amount of weeb clothes is great in this game. The Eastern Farmer outfit reminded me of this japanese indie game where you be a traditional farmer in the paddies so I'm digging the archives for that trailer again.. I need more Japan rice farmer games.

Its YOU that tempts him not the other way around.

Animes that focus on Japanese farming communities are so comfy too. It really gets the weeb side of the brain tingling. Makes you think living in rural Japan is beautiful and neighborly when it actually isn't.

I really like all the unique dialogue the townspeople give when you start dating or marry one of their own. If only it extended to all of the towns.

I need to put together a compilation of those lines.

The rural rice paddies in YW2 were kinda nice. Too bad you couldn't interact with them other than catching whatever animals are hiding there.

>Tfw no farming game based on Flying Witch
it hurts to live

I still need to get around to watching this.

>Japan is beautiful and neighborly when it actually isn't.

Please explain

Because you have to be Japanese in order to actually be part of it.

Touch Inari's fluffy tail.
Brush Inari's fluffy tail
Hug Inari's fluffy tail
Smell Inari's fluffy tail

...

>europe gets shafted by an another xseed game

I guess I start pirating all of their games

Blame their parent company, not xseed themselves. They only deal with NA publishing. Marvelous europe is fucking up.

Thankfully the 3ds is real easy to hack for when they do fuck over europeans.

I wish that villagers from the other towns would remark more about outsider townspeople more instead of just saying hey you're dating/marrying someone 'from another town.'

Would like to see how personalities like Kasumi would react to like Iluka/Siluka for example.

I bought the first Story of Seasons when it came out. I ended up dropping it. There was just too much to do, it felt too awkward to me. Which is weird since I loved a New Beginning so much.

Based on this, should I give this game a chance? It looks good, I hear good things but that's also what I heard from the first one...

I was so into this game when i first got it but my love is starting to falter a bit...
I've fallen into the trap where you form the optimum path to get your chores done
Water plants, harvest, tend animals, mine, do part time jobs, and give a gift to Kasumi.

I guess Im falling into a bit of tedium.

I dont know why I am working so hard to make money... I got over a million dollars just selling gems and excess crops and products.

I feel the same way. I think only Megan actually mentions the person by name, but it's still rather generic dialogue.

Anyways here's all the dialogue for when a person starts dating Kasumi/starts dating someone.
It's a little messy looking, but it does the job.
Congratulations on getting engaged and married compilation will come eventually.

That depends. What didn't you care for in the last SoS?
You just felt overwhelmed? Because this game also has quite a few things to manage at once.

Don't sell gems nigga you will hate yourself for it

I had the same problem, but after the cellar got unlocked it all slowly got less repetitive. No more worrying about seasons or typhoons. I could just fuck off and work on other things, like fishing.

I don't have many crops left to upgrade and my animals are all boosted to the levels I want them to be. I'm just waiting on a kid now.

Siluka is best girl.

I think they're onto me

decades actually

Brad needs to take better care of his wife. He'd be the protagonist of an NTR doujin.

Too much too soon, mostly. I also didn't really like how you have to craft absolutely everything. ANB does the same thing with the crafting, but it was more manageable to me. Another thing I hated in SOS was the trees and rocks in my farm, they took days or weeks to get rid of one and got too tedious that I just stopped.

Did you pet the town bear today?

So I'm not allowed to sell gems, herbs and such? So what am I supposed to use to make money early game then????

Boosted.

I got about 30 of each gem and have everything pretty much all the important tools upgraded. I see no reason to keep hoarding gems. it's not even winter yet in my game.

How do I earn the respect of Mr. D? just win a bunch of veteran contests?

I also ave a suspicion Mr. D is my dad in disguise or something...

The intro to Trio is pretty calm in comparison. You get dropped off to do your own thing pretty early on, but there's not much to do just yet.

Things pick up as each town unlocks and soon you'll find yourself with many things to do in a day. It's all about finding a schedule for yourself.
As for the trees and rocks just play on seedling or tough it out on veteran to remove them.
Unlike the last game the farm you get isn't a total wreck, so it's not as big of a deal as before. There's also eventual tool upgrades that make using the tools quicker and make them use less stamina.

It's a very similar game to the last one, but it's also improved in many ways. If you didn't care for the last game you may not care for this one despite the many improvements they made.

Kick his ass twice in a row in Expert, he'll tell you when he's getting serious

Beating him in a contest unlocks the next level of contest difficulty. Eventually you'll beat him when he's "gotten serious".

>I also have a suspicion Mr. D is my dad in disguise or something
Don't be ridiculous. If it was your dad he'd be wearing ceremonial samurai armor.

That's what he'd want us to think though, his family already knows about his authentic Tsuyukusan forged armor, but they'd never suspect him to dress up as a knight of all things

Damn, this game has a bit more sexual lewdness than Im used to in these games. It really psyches me out when I make a perverted prediction and it turns out right.

The lewdness has definitely been cranked up compared to the older games. Your MC is a pretty big enabler too.

Angela from the last game went full lewd after marriage, but I think she might have been the only noticeable one besides Iris who tends to be lewd all the time.

So the game lets you get comfortable first, eases you into the actual game? Let's you take everything at your own pace?

If that's how it is and how the farm is... I think I may want to try it out. I want to like these games, especially since I can only play the older games so many times before it gets too... Yeah.

Just got this game and started it up for the first time, do I go seedling or veteran? Does veteran do anything else besides give you less stamina? I want to be comfy

Kind of. The tutorial phase itself isn't very long and you're left to your own devices for the most part.

The second town opens up on Spring 15. Third town on Summer 5.
Every town comes with their own shops, schedules, and events, so it really is a slow build up so you get comfortable.
It's a very straightforward game in all honesty. There are some things that you want to stay on top of, like managing your farm animals, and planting certain fruit trees ASAP.
For the most part you can take it easy.

Prices in veteran mode are also slightly higher.
Just go seedling for maximum comfiness. You gotta earn that comfiness if you go veteran.

It's not Ludus

Well yeah, he'd break out in hives if he did that!
He couldn't POSSIBLY be Mr. D. He's too weeb for that.

Do you want to be the person your character appears to be, or an asthmatic war veteran?

>best girl is married already

why the fuck do harvest moon games keep doing this shit

>best two girls in RF4 are completely unmarriable despite both being single
I don't know

It's tradition user
