So I just got this game. Been playing for a few hours now and I'm so fucking addicted. I did not expect this game to be so good. How do you feel about the game Sup Forums?
So I just got this game. Been playing for a few hours now and I'm so fucking addicted...
Havent tried it. But if you say its that good, i'll definitely pirate it.
>How do you feel about the game Sup Forums?
I expected this game to be so good, and it delivered more than I hoped.
NG+ is hell though, way too much unskippable text to go through again.
I love it and can't wait for the sidequel. It has so many QoL features that Pokémon should definitely have.
Has anyone ITT played Tag Tamers? Any good? I'm interested because it's supposed to explain some 02 / Tamers bizarro lore.
I'm three hours in and honestly I can't play more than an hour per day or I start to get fucking bored. I don't like the digital world being so empty, I expected something like the data squad game for ps3 digital world, not some blue void. Tell me if I should keep going or it just gets more and more boring anons
Shit I meant ps2
Kinda screwed my playthrough up. I started on hard mode and grinded like crazy until I hit a wall against that back to back boss fight around Chapter 13/14. Bumped the difficulty down to normal and now I'm just steam rolling everything.
PvP when?
i want to some PVP some niggas from this thread
Female MC's ZR is one of the best thing of all time
IF YOU ARENT ON HARD MODE, YOUR A CASUAL
IF THE HARDMODE IN CYBER SLEUTH 2 ISNT AS GOOD, THE DEVS ARE SHIT
DO NOT NERF HARD MODE DEVS. CYBER SLEUTH DID IT JUST RIGHT.
A LOT OF PEOPLE BITCHED ABOUT HARDMODE IN CYBER SLEUTH 1 I HOPE THEY DONT LISTEN TO THIS FUCKING CASUALS
That Data Squad game was total dogshit but I see your point. Cyber Sleuth has so much text it's almost a VN and the boss loves rambling about stuff so you'll probably get more bored.
No spoilers OP.
When you hear this music, shit just got real
youtube.com
please look forward to it
OP again. I'm on a Digimon high right now and I just discovered a new Digimon game was released not to long ago. How good is it? Is it better than Cyber Sleuth?
The game is good but if you dislike the empty dungeons then you probably would be a bigger fan of Next Order.
In general Cybersleuth has its flaws but it's a very good digimon rpg game.
Only complaints are LOL STACK SPD and that the English translators feel like they were a bunch of college students being paid peanuts at certain times almost transliterating or removing nuance. Not enough to ruin the game but some moments in particular are... well. BAKEMON.
It was my first Digimon and I got it because I'm a huge Pokefag but new Pokemon games have lost a certain level of freshness thanks to my knowledge of the mechanics and I wanted something to feel fresh to me, but still be the same genre.
I loved it, story and characters were really fun, gameplay (especially exploring digivolution lines) was great, and thanks to my complete lack of knowledge of the mechanics going in, it felt refreshing. That said, it's a little easy, but I didn't mind that too much.
Enjoyed it a ton and am really happy to see it getting a direct sequel.
Average battle system, average environments, alright story. Pretty much completely carried by me already liking digimon and tolerating (coming close to enjoying) the digivolution grind. A lot of it is standard RPG fare but it's all done competently enough that if you get hooked by the actual digimon management and collection aspects, which I feel is likely if you like digimon, it's pretty fun.
I don't remember if you do any of the mixed world stuff that early in the game, but those are at least more visually interesting than the default blue digital world and they become more common as you go, as I recall.
It's okay, but Cyber Sleuth is far greater.
First half >>>>> Second half
sure, you start to get bored of the first half, so when the change of pace in the second half feels good
but in retrospect, i perfer the atmosphere in the first half. It had the potential to be a truly sleuthy experience, but i'm sad the "Cyber sleuth" element got kicked to the side in favor of MUH DIGIMON
the sequel needs less focus on digimon
They are two series of Digimon games.
World and Story
The former is what Next Order is, it focuses on exploration and pet simulation.
Story are generally rpgs like Cyber Sleuth.
Both are good but peoples tastes can differ.
how does this game run on vita? obviously 30fps but is it at least consistent?
and is it good if you have no interest in digimon? it's like $25 now at play asia. im tempted.
IT's dog shit
Digimon Games have turned into two different types of games
Digimon STORY - RPG game
Digimon WORLD - pet raising bullshit
Thats a tamagotchi simulator
You will love it or hate it
Fucking love this game. It has it's faults, but I loved it to death all the same.
I just wish they could have figured out how to balance difficulty without giving bosses 5-8 turns in a row.
But it's not good?
You must have some really shit taste.
I want to marry Renamon
You're not in the Digital World man.
The start drags on for awhile, then it picks up, then it starts to drag on for a few chapters until it finally picks up again.
The ending is more or less the same ending as every Digimon show or game, but the side battles you unlock around there are really good.
The side quests are hit or miss too, but a lot of them are great.
the real difficulty is in PVP
can someone in this thread please pvp me
Ah millenials. Are you guys ever not bored?
>mfw new Cyber Sleuth means even more glorious new Yasuda designs
Only two complaints are the clearly rushed translation (especially the second half with the Bakemon shit) and the unskippable text. Wish dungeons were a bit more interesting as well but that's it
>PVP in a turn based RPG
Hmmm
Interested to see what FeMC looks like in Hacker's Memory.
It's not the digital world, it's a separate computer world made by a company that happens to be infested by Digimon in some parts for plot and spoiler reasons. The dungeons get better to a degree after a certain point. Though if it's not fun for you now, it's probably never going to be because it's the Digimon management aspect that people tend to find the most fun.
The most popular turn based RPG in the world for the past three decades is built around PVP mate.
Do you hate strategy, faggot?
Hard is perfect for normal encounters but late game bosses are complete bullshit on it. Most people I know who play stay on Hard until around that point then drop to not deal with the later bosses.
Competitive pokemon is total trash.
I wasn't going to buy this game and my friend who is a major Digimon fag told me the game is not balanced at all. He said playing on Normal is too fucking easy and playing on Hard is rage inducing. That kinda turned me off. Is he over exaggerating?
This one is a raising sim rather than a JRPG. Entirely different genres. The JRPG one you're playing is considered better in plot and characters but the other one is more traditional Digimon and also has better exploration by far.
Sort of. Normal is always too easy yeah, but hard is not hard until after a certain story related boss.
You don't need prior experience with Digimon to enjoy it but it's entirely taste, it's the mechanics behind raising them that's addicting and fun. The frame rate never dropped for me when I played on vita but it has been awhile.
True after a certain extent. Hard is perfect until you reach the last five or so chapters (there's 20) which is when the bosses get bullshit. You can change at any point though so most people change right before a boss and switch back to Hard after.
Hate all the unskippable shit. Loved grinding up and down evolution trees for some reason. Supposedly there's something called a hackers dream coming out? So i'm gonna wait to pick that up before I get my hands on it again. (Last time I played I was on a JB'd vita that was having save issues)
Are there random encounters? Because I just played world of final fantasy and it gets tedious...
Are you retarded or underage.
What the fuck is wrong with his pants
You can change difficulty on the fly
play on hard until you feel like its no longer fun, then switch to normal
if you feel like things are too easy put it back on hard
>Lopmon digitation isn't canonical
Next Order has Turuiemon so I can main Lopmon and Terriermon without evolving both of them into Gargomon so it obviously is the better game for an autist like me.
Will Yasuda finally learn how to draw boobs right?
Oh so it's not a JRPG? That's disappointing. Thanks guys. I still may try it out
there are, but they are not overbearing
you can also at will reduce and even eliminate random encounters as you progress in the game
honestly though you will WANT to get encounters as much a possible to level up your Mons and get scan data on the enemy
Got it on vita, gotta say I wasn't disappointed.
Haven't checked due to laziness but here's to hoping the next installment gets a translated release too.
Yes. You have some skills to change up the encounter rate though, from "no encounters" to "instantly get in a battle" later in the game, so that helps.
They're just fine as is, I say.
Sequel is already confirmed for localization. Really happy they got on that basically immediately.
it's surprisingly comfy. The actual balance is a little wonky and you absolutely need to look up platinum grinding sukamon grinding but if you have nostalgia for digimon and like jrpgs it's definitely worth it.
>tfw watching Digimon Adventure Tri
>tfw playing Digimon Cyber Sleuth
Maximum comfy.
the only thing I totally hated about the game was the reoccurring miniboss. Whoevers idea for you to keep fighing a boss with ultra high defense that has a attack that can heal it needs to be fired. Hell, even if you could somehow get around it half the time you have a ai control partner that loves to get crit by the move.
>Every boss just starts 1-shotting you and get 5+ turns to every 1 each of your team members get.
Yeah no. Hard mode was a crapshoot that boiled down to using Jesmon to invincible-counter most of it.
Nothing, that's just the coloring for the art profile and such.
It's that Ctulthu thing, yes yes yes. I am happy.
Started to constantly crash one day and haven't been able to play since.
Music was pretty great overall in Cyber Sleuth, just wasn't too crazy about the Next Order bits in general. Not bad, just not too much that stuck with you.
But sadly not enough porn
Beelzemon BM was unavailable to me, the game is shit
is the english script gonna make my FeMC a tranny again?
>Played until right before the final arc (beat bancholeomon and all the other area bosses)
>Vita broke
Why do Vita's have to be so expensive?
>tfw like both cyber sleuth and next order
they're both fun in their own ways.
Yup, I like them both for different reasons. But honestly, I kind of like having these two different types of series running with Digimon. Gives it a nice bit of variety and such.
I like them both too. Next Order's Femc's design is better though
why didnt you pre-order bro?
>Next Order's Femc's design is better though
No
just buy the ps4
you uploaded your save data, right?
I wish they'd add the Digimon PS1 games to the Vita PSN store.
I heard the translation for this game got fucked. Is it true or am I thinking of a different game?
Too much dialogue. Endgame encounters are pretty cool, especially the DLC ones.
And get Beelzemon blast mode. This thing is awesome as fuck.
Who are they talking about Sup Forums?
The translation is lazy but serviceable, there are several errors like they keep switching between the official jap name and the dub names, like Omnimon/Omegamon, or theres one part where they characters say bakemono (monster) but the text reads Bakemon (digimon)
But since it was such a success I think the new game will have more effort put into the translation
You
>there are several errors
>No
Yes
Don't forget the weird spacing sometimes where it looks like a multi-choice but it's just one answer.
Awesome game. Still one of the most enjoyable this gen for me. It's a cozy easy going JRPG with a good story, great soundtrack, and fun gameplay.
It definitely has its issues though. End game is TERRIBLE because of the poorly thought out battle system. It makes the secret bosses unbearable. The translations are also rather incompetent. They make a lot of basic errors and you can tell that some of the lines were never actually finished (were just at the first stage of translating). It also has continuity issues in regards to the player's gender if you picked female. Since they likely never reference the gender in Japanese, they should have made sure the translations were ambiguous or always referred to you as name.
Translation was a rush job though. It's Google Translate tier because they just wanted to try releasing it in the west quickly to test the waters over here, so to speak. At least that's what I remember being the reason.
The male gender lines for female MC thing happens all the time in translated games, it's something about the way it's written in Japanese. Another user explained it to me closer to release times, but I don't remember the details.
I know why it happens, but it can still be dealt with using ambiguous translations. Japanese rarely references gender, unlike English. It will keep reusing the name of people if it needs to, but in Japanese once a subject is established it never needs to be referred to again until a new subject occurs. Because of this, it's super easy to have gender ambiguous characters without it being obvious.
Here it isn't about being covert though. It just needs to read in a way such that it does not establish a gender for the MC.
>empty enviroments
>braindead encounters, health-sponge bossfights
>can't even grind properly at some points of the story
>music poorly implemented
That said I like playing this while listening to a podcast or something, discovering new digimon is fun.
Best digimon game I've ever played. Can't wait for the sequel.
>It's Google Translate tier
Now I'm not gonna say it's perfect, but it's nowhere near YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US. It just needed editing to fix the more obvious issues, like Bakemon and using male pronouns for FeMC.
On the latter, the translator probably didn't bother asking whoever was in charge to make duplicate lines for every piece of text that mentioned the MC. Or maybe he asked, but someone didn't care enough to do it, which is also possible. These things tend to happen if the localization team doesn't insist on how important they are.
Did Adventure Tri ever get an English dub?
I loved it. I got it for the Vita, and it became one of my top favorite games on the system. I'm picking up the Vita version of Cybersleuth Hackers when it comes out too.
Soon.
I remember the PS1 Digimon games being shit. Granted, they may be good now but I HATED them as a kid
I recently started playing this too (got it when it was on sale) and for someone who hasn't been into Digimon since he was a lad, it's a pretty great refresher. I've been thinking of watching the anime again too after all these years since I barely remember anything from any of them. Any recommendations for the series I should watch or stay away from and why?
also when I played the demon lord DLC the guest character from dusk called the MC a SHE even though I was playing the male character
Fighting leopardmon in hard mode was extremely annoying and made me drop the game for some time because I did to lower the difficulty.
Then I remembered that I hadn't actually finished the story yet.
But I stumbled across this and it's amazing.
youtube.com
No matter how much nostalgia you feel watch the subs
dub is shit
The subbed show is a lot better sure, like a lot better. But I still think the butchered American Digimon movie is easily the best Digimon related animated thing though.
Hardmode is crap because of turn order and how defense works
if you dont want to be raped every endgame team turns into ulforceveemon, lilithmon, and marineangemon + other digimon with pierce moves, non-piercing moves are shit
If you want to use any digimon you like you should play on normal
Played on hard mode and it was an imbalanced mess. The only think that kept me going was my nostalgia for digimon and the story(which is basically just .hack). I don't know if it's any better on easy but I was worn out. Random encounters were too easy and the bosses ranged from super easy to straight up freight trains. Jimiken still haunts me at night.....I can still remember that voice, that awful voice. Point is it's a pretty week rpg and I was dissapointed
