thats not legend of mana
Fuck off that game fucking sucks.
What's the point of choosing where to build your house in the beginning of the game?
Makes no sense.
That's not FF7 / Tales of Destiny
hahaha
i love that game to death and i can tell you that is a blatant lie
Riki is worst story
fuck monster types
because its fun
the best ps1 rpgs read more like poetry than novels.
Why aren't you on PS4 yet you shit fucking game god dammit.
Is this game as confusing and open-ended as every mouthbreather says it is?
I only beat emelia so far and it was very hard to get lost.
thats not suikoden 2
Maybe if it was finished, but it's not even half finished.
That's not Breath of Fire 3
That's not Legend of Dragoon
That's not Final Fantasy _
That's not Xenogears
That's not Front Mission 3
no, the only open ended story is lute
everything else follows a path through each of the same areas with maybe a few unique ones for some characters.
this
not even getting Fuse as an 8th character
It's a shame there's no english hacking community for this game.
I'd love to see content be added to this.
>That's not Legend of Dragoon
>That's not Xenogears
>That's not Front Mission 3
These are all shit games, but which is the worst?
That's not every single fucking PS1 RPG
Final Fantasy VIII is one of the worst JRPGs ever though.
one word: GRANDIA.
good
for a moment i thought you said granstream saga
Not even close.
Breath of Fire 3 and Xenogears are the only correct choices on that list.
Both are mediocre. Tales of Eternia is better.
OMEGA DEMON CHAOS! TAKE THIS!
SUPERIOR
OP IS A FAGGOT
>ctrl+f
>Vagrant Story
>0
Jesus Christ neo-Sup Forums. At least one person mentioned Suikoden.
Nobody mentioned it cause it's not the best.
>putting a mediocre turd like LoD on that list
Gross.
>4 members in battle instead of 5
Yeah, uh, no.
Wrong.
>inb4 some autist reees about it not being an RPG

Alundra (アランドラ Arandora?), released in Europe as The Adventures of Alundra, is an action-adventure action role-playing video game
>role-playing video game
BTFO.
>He thinks Alundra's anymore than mid tier.
>not high tier at least
>Wil fucking up
>not destroying the Egg when he has the chance
>everything that happens to Gustave
no, fuck you
>Even trying to associate it with high tier.
>implying it shouldn't be associated with high tier
Final Fantasy VIII
Beyond the Beyond
The Granstream Saga
Dragon Valor
Battle Hunter
Monster Seed
The Legend of Dragoon
Eternal Eyes
Master of Monsters
Blaze & Blade
Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth
Guardian's Crusade
No, there was plenty of awful shit.
>Having passing thoughts of it reaching anything above low mid.
>>fuck monster types
Gladly.
Grandia > all of those except Front Mission 3 which I haven't played.
>mediocre Zelda knockoff with shitty platforming
Grandia vs Breath of Fire 3. Are you sure about that?
I like the Lunars slightly more but Grandia is probably my next choice.
you have good taste
Any game is an RPG because you play the role of another character.
so the best ps1 rpg is Metal Gear Solid
yea whatever faggot. I just role played your moms pussy.
Yes I am, and I played BoF3 before Grandia.
Lunar SSH is next on my list.
I have two dads, thanks anyway ;-)
and I played Grandia before BoF3. BoF is still better.
Grandia had a better battle system and more likable cast.
Then tetris is the best rpg of all time. Why? Pic related obviously.
Role: Tetrominoe engineer
Playing: You play it
Game: The game you're playing
BoF has a better world, attention to detail(MC's developing combat animations, better cast, and better finale.
Actually Tetris is an experimental society simulator under oligarchy
>BoF has a better world
Generic as fuck, hardly better than Grandia's.
>attention to detail(MC's developing combat animations
Okay I'll give you that.
>better cast
No. Especially not the MC.
>and better finale.
Well I haven't finished it so I'll take your word for it.
That's not BOF 4, Grandia or Suikoden 2
yea its alright I just role played that one of them was your mom
>Bof3
That's not Bof4.
LMAO!!! FUCKEN!!! ROASTED!!!
Look, I like Legend of Dragoon more than most people here but it's not even close to being the best JRPG on the PS1.
Both my dads are mtf -> ftm genderfluid transuniversal gendervoid ?? You can't just """"play"""" as my mom, get it?
>Both my dads are mtf -> ftm genderfluid transuniversal gendervoid
I liked 4 more than 3, but the dragons in 3 were overall better.
Not even dude it's traditional themes done right with smooth as fuck pacing through the story felt like I was living that shit out in a weird way and it turns its shit up hardcore near the end I recommend you see it through I won't spoil it. The dragon system was also rad and in a way satisfying and addictive. The cast was actually pretty damn good. Rei was a bro till the end. The opening arcs were also pretty interesting and gave a good atmosphere to the game. It was traditional jrpg done right.
Dragons and Myria bro I'm sorry, but it's better.
Came here for this objectively correct post.
>Thinks this
>is in anyway correct.
Even unfinished it is more fun than most PS1 JRPG's. Only Vagrant Story can come close.
Easily weakest game in the entire series.
Saga Frontier 2 sucks balls but it's not Unlimited SaGa.
Unlimited SaGa isn't just the worst in the series, it's probably the single worst JRPG on the PS2, and arguably the single worst JRPG period.
I find Unlimited Saga better than SaGa Frontier 2. Hardly worst JRPG either, you get field skills, no need to grind, and different character development mechanics. Much more freedom compared to SaGa Frontier 2 which is much more restrictive.
But how the fuck are you even supposed to play it? The combat, the leveling, the board game bullshit, it's all terrible.
The zones change in difficulty the farther away from your house you put them. There are also certain quests that trigger depending on how you place locations.
Why not actually attempt doing so? I managed to figure out enough to get to the end. It is funny that people rail on the combat in Unlimited Saga yet you can see in this thread what are two games that do come up as good games? Legend of Dragoon and Vagrant Story which has timed button presses. That is what Unlimited Saga has. When you get technique panels on your reel along with that on your character skills you can consistently land on the techniques you want to so it is just a timed button press.
Leveling is just completing a mission, which is essentially like pen and paper needing to complete missions in order to customize your characters.
The board game style is to bring it back to basics.
I keep wanting to pick up Unlimited SaGa but I doubt I'll be able to find it for a decent price these days.
I'm surprised it is over ten bucks. I got it a few years ago for under five bucks or something of that sort.
We agreed many moons ago that Suikoden 2 is the best PS1 JRPG
Unlimited Saga was pretty innovative. It was it's own beast that wasn't trying to go for the traditional route. Most people who criticize it haven't even played it from what I've found.
>tfw you just love the fact that the PSX had so many great jrpgs and could care less which one was the best.
Guys, I know it's a long stretch, but I feel like with current PS4 lineups we may be seeing a return to form.
>Telling lies.
What is even great about it? Heard it was almost mechanically the same as Suikoden 1 outside of being able to equip more runes at once on people.
The tabletop-esque design was pretty neat.
The major problems were how super user-unfriendly it could be with all its systems and not explaining them so well.
If you didn't have a good selection of skills and items and such, you could just get wrecked no problem at times.
The music and art design is top tier though.
>The major problems were how super user-unfriendly it could be with all its systems and not explaining them so well.
So, a typical SaGa game.
Heh, yeah.
I never really got into JRPGs until the late 2000s.
When I played Tales of Eternia for the first time, I noticed how dull and unenthusiastic the English voice-acting was.
Was this normal for 90s JRPGs?
Well even more so than the typical SaGa game. I had to look at the manual to know how to get out of the town and fight monsters. In other SaGa games that is second nature.
Though it isn't bad having the game demand something of the player.
