I don't understand Americans coal boner. Natural gas and renewable energy is cheaper, better for the environment, and doesn't give you cancer.

Because they see that everyone and their moms do that and they always want to be special snowflakes.

throwaway line in kh2 where demyx says "we do to have hearts" and hes proven right in 3D

>renewable energy is cheaper
heh
>better for the environment
HEH
How about you go and check:
1) How are those panels made
2) How long they last for

they have this obsession with not getting rid of obsoleete industries because that would put all the workers out of the job
nevermind you can just spend a few months training them how to operate and maintain a solar plant and hire them back on

...

Solar power is hilariously bad for the environment.

Many americans that work in the coal industry are too stupid to get another job, so they want daddy goverment to stop all other forms of energy in their region so they can work on a job a literal nigger could do

>be coal miner
>alternative energy sources take over the market because they're cheaper and safer
>coal market collapses
>lose your coal mining job
>Ivy League liberal goes on tv telling you the market has changed, coal is dead, you need to learn new skills and switch industries
>coal miner: REEEEEEE FUCKING LIBERALS

I don't think the horse and buggy manufacturers were so retarded when the car came along. Then again, Kentucky, West Virginia, and the rest of coal country isn't known for their intellectual prowess.

humans demand power in waves
there is a peak high and low
please tell the class of a renewable source of energy that can load follow:
solar(can make the sun shine harder)
wind(can make it blow harder
nuclear(kept at max for max profits anyway)
CSP(always at max as well)

but in the red corner:
coal(add more in. slow, but will heat up)
natural gas(now we're talking)

Without massive energy storage in place when dickheads everywhere throw the AC on and your favorite dildo factory starts up, your renewable can't do shit about it.

>horse manufacturers
Fucking Monsanto GMO Equines™ i swear

This.

>horse manufacturers
I always knew those pieces of shit weren't real animals

If that was the case, the coal industry wouldn't have collapsed, the renewable energy industry wouldn't be booming, that museum and countless other businesses and organizations wouldn't have made the switch either.

The market had already decided. Coal is dead.

>Natural gas and renewable energy is cheaper
LOOOOOOOL
>better for the environment
Not by much unless that solar panel survived for >5 years
>doesn't give you cancer.
Natural gas? Nope. Solar power? Kills a lot of birds and needs a lot of space.

>renewables
>cheaper
>better for the environment

do you know how much rare earths need to be mined to make those panels? How long their shelf life is?

>The market had already decided.
Don't know about your country, but in mine the only reason we even have solar panels is because the government has a hard-on for them and sponsors a huge part of their cost.

Market didn't decide shit.

>I don't think the horse and buggy manufacturers were so retarded when the car came along.
Ever heard of a "spanner in the works"?

renewables can't replace coal's share of electric generation, there ain't enough square footage in the country.

Combine that with the only two new nuclear plant being cost at $14,000/kWh, and no new coal plants being built, we're rapidly approaching a brownout situation.

Name me one renewable energy that can load on demand and then tell me coal is dead. Coal will never be dead cause it is the cheapest form of energy we can load with until we find a magical way to generate excess power and store it for long duration of time.

So nearly every power plant in the US switched to natural gas and there's a huge boom in natural gas production while coal continues dying because why exactly?

Thermal coal's fucked, no way it's coming back in the US. Metallurgical coal is picking up though.

Natural gas. You know the thing massive tankers are transporting around the world instead of coal.

Coal is cheaper to transport and store than natural gas. Natural gas gets the unnecessary "muh earthquake" boogyman as well.

>Natural gas
>Renewable energy

I didn't realize I'd clicked on fucking Sup Forums

He said renewable.

Also, anyone have any thoughts on coal to liquid as a fuel?

it's a museum, the source of its power doesn't matter.

do you think a military museum would allow you to carry weapons inside? probably not.

You mean a ww2 museum won't allow me to gas some jews?

It should though.
Only period appropriate weapons though.

But it's quite ironic.

You can get "clean" coal where they clean it before burning it. That is as "clean" as coal will ever get.

Why is solar the new hotness but good ol' wind power gets cucked?

People giving their opinions about a museum they'll never ever visit is also ironic.

Oh wait no, it's just fucking dumb.

Muh burds
Muh eyesore
Muh noise

Lets reread my original post >Natural gas and renewable energy

I'll concede on renewable energy but it doesn't change the fact that natural gas is both cheaper and safer hence why the natural gas industry is booming, most power plants switched to natural gas, and there's pipelines being built around the world transporting natural gas while coal is dying.

>Muh burds
Solar panels also kill birds

>There are people who think mining the sun for energy when its the only thing keeping our solar system going is sensible.
>There are people who think continuing to support the #1 cause of global warming is "good for the environment"
>Implying people who mine the sun aren't at a massively increased risk of skin cancer.
>Primary cause of black people.
>Not just building Pluto panels or Mercury panels

Hell you can get Mercury out of the ground people its all over the place, Issac Newton snorted it for two years during a Sabbatical in Bedlam, why are we mining something so far away? Isn't the massive carbon footprint of transporting sun 1AU just going to make global warming worse?

Cause wind power requires huge land spaces. Guess who is in control of those huge land spaces. Protip: It is not the masses. So the rich folks push solar cause wind powers depreciate the cost of their properties.

Here is an actual case study I did when I took a module in renewable energy sources.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Wind

Is this not exactly what the huge battery banks Elon talks about are for?

The market chose coal though

Yeah, no. Nuclear is, by far, the cheapest, safest, and cleanest energy source by a huge margin.

>1) How are those panels made
With material that doesn't give you black lung
>2) How long they last for
9000000x more than lumps of coal

How do solar panels kill birds?

Should I yank one out of someone's roof and start slamming some pigeons or something?

Why does noone get on the geothermal train? Its green, quick, efficient and steady.

How is your pic ironic? The chimp administration led a war on coal and shut down many of our nation's power plants, this is why energy is so expensive in America and why it's cheaper to have Chinese and South East Asians manufacture everything and just ship it to us now.

Plus, all those panels can light up a single bulb, they're still getting the bulk of their energy consumption from standard power plants.

Here is the thing, we already have very good battery banks but making them is extremely toxic and way more damaging than burning coal will ever be. So Elon has to come up with a "clean" way to manufacture those battery.

>It's been well over a century since someone came up with a better way to store power than the liquid electrolyte battery.
>"Best" improvement is using fucking lithium.

You can just tell we hit the tech limit there. The tech rape train does indeed have brakes.

>You mean a ww2 museum won't allow me to gas some jews?
If it was factual they wouldn't

Fracking licenses are extremely hard to get. I agree natural gases are create but they created a catch-22 with the natural gas situation.

takes a lot of infrastructure and isn't accessible to many places

Has anyone thought of trying to harness the power of Australian and Canadian shitposting? It's certainly a perpetual energy source.

Cause geothermal is situational. Just like hydropower. Not every country has the luxury of such power sources.

Solar Panels are harmless, but solar farms concentrate light and heat. Think of the Fallout new vegas sun farm. Birds are fried mid-air when they fly through that.

>1) How are those panels made
>2) How long they last for
.. Compared to coal? You for real?

We need an "all of the above" grid. Here in New York, our dipshit leftist governor commissioned a study on the environmental impact of fracking and to his embarrassment, fracking was proven completely safe and economically sound. While renewable energy is fine to add to our resources, we have to be realistic, nothing packs a punch like fossil or nuclear fuel; solar/geothermal/wind farms produce laughable results and just end up killing a ton of birds.

Thermal storage by means of molten salt?

>Every country isn't on the earth
Really pumping my tires with this one

source on that because it sounds like bullshit

...

Are some people living on the ice-core planets? For that matter, is there a country that has literally no water it can't shove through a dam? Why would people even live somewhere with no water, and build casinos and attract gays there?

Who sort of absolute madmen would build some of the richest and largest economic areas somewhere with no water?

You are fucking one dumb nigger

What?

>cheapest
The only new plants being built in the US are years behind schedule and currently have a cost of $14,000/kWh.

If you are on the earth you have access to geothermal energy

I'm not the fuckface stupid enough to compare coal with solar power.

I guess Alaska is like 99% permafrost, but you could always just mine it for ice power

Does the country have a readily accessible thermal hotspot? Ground solid enough that will support the whole thing? Heck, is the hospot hot enough to fuel the station's pumps with the energy it produces?

Sup Forums here, friendly reminder: "around ghouls, don't be fools."

That isn't how geothermal energy works.

To harass geothermal energy efficiently you have to have the same conditions suited to making a hot spring. Can you do that everywhere on Earth?

>Over 90% of renewable energy production tech like solar panels are produced in china solely by china oqned corporations
>China heavily pollutes and pushes the idea that the US has to go green
>By buying their tech
Hmm really makes you think

>Dude what is digging lmao

Reported for wrinkling the crinklies, remember the 6 million rads.

>Why would people even live somewhere with no water, and build casinos and attract gays there?

Actually Vegas is pretty "clean" in their energy since they tap into the energy source that is Hoover dam.

coal is renewable as well. wait a while and forests will be more pockets of coal

>To harass geothermal energy efficiently
Whoa! So not only you encourage to molest and discriminate against a innocent energy source but you also think on how to do it efficiently! YOU ARE A LITERAL NAZI!

Think you're confusing geothermal heating with geothermal energy.

Riddle me this, Americans: why are you so keen on shitting on yourselves? Did you secretly become China?

>Dude what is digging lmao
That isn't how Geothermal works you moron. Man I am trying very hard to be civil here but it is clear you have no willingness to even read up on the topic you are discussing.

Holy shit you are fucking braindead

fucking kek what is even going on with you

I forgot hoover dam, I was sort of shooting for/at california but figured I'd throw in Vegas too.

Also Dubai, but I suppose they can just buy an ocean or something.

do you think you're being fucking funny or something

stop posting

If you can't beat them, join them. After all, what's the American dream compared to living like in China?

Solar collectors do, but they use mirrors, not photovoltaics

STOP GEOTHERMAL HARASSMENT!
#notallhotsprings

You've been had. I was merely pretending to be retarded.

A. Panels are fragile, just ask the people who have to keep replacing them because the ambient temperature is driven high enough to fry birds that fall on the panel and shatter them

B. The chemicals and processes used to manufacture them are toxic and have a large carbon footprint

You sound like one of those idiots who buy a hybrid or electric car and then brag about saving the environment when the reality is that most of the power to charge electrics still come from coal plants and both classes of vehicles use battery banks with lots of toxic waste that need to be replaced every few years.

There are some ironic deaths but I fail to remember even one.

Dubai and Cali are perfect places for solar farms since they have deserts. If there is one area they should invest in it is making solar energy efficient.

Also using wave as an energy source is still a huge meme at this point in time.

Yeah user, stop shitting up Sup Forums's world seminar on resolving the energy crisis, we're onto something here anyway.

Has anyone considered throwing coal into the sun?

>merely pretending to be retarded

Swallow a revolver.

youtube.com/watch?v=LLCF7vPanrY

they know what they are doing

MODS!

downvote! DOWNBOAT!!!!

how about i throw you into the sun fucker

>neoliberal anarchocapitalists contest prices and order the job from the cheapest place even though theyre some shitters who have no idea what they're doing
>surprised everything goes to shit
Happens all the time where I live too, every public construction project or other contract is a fucking trainwreck because they keep using lowest bidders without any regard for their ability to actually do the job properly.

China is also moving away from coal. So congrats, even the biggest industry in the world doesn't want the rust belts shitty coal
Oh wait i forgot that its one big "war on coal

>Coal will never end
there is literally a finite amount of coal in the world, once its used up, what you gonna do, also burning coal is bad for the enviroment.

Reflecting the earth is probably desecrating Allah by depicting his image back at anyone looking at the solar farms.

Plus there's oil everywhere, you can't hold the world hostage with sunlight, who you gonna get to pay the ransom bill? The English?

So Natural gas >>> Solar?
