I don't give a shit about League anymore but them finally making runes free is good. It was a terrible system since the very beginning that only existed so they could get people to buy champs and pages.
LoL is a nightmare to get into for new players right now. The entry curve is so steep they probably dont get too many to stick around. It takes years of hardcore play to get close to unlocking everything, or probably thousands of dollars.

Masteries are based on account level. Talents are selected when your hero reaches that particular level. They are not the same thing.

Ceiling is good you can be relative to skill. It doesn't matter if one player is massively better at video games than another, if they both hit the skill ceiling for the game in question then they are on equal ground. Skill floor is amount of skill necessary to even play the game at its most basic level.
A high skill floor makes a game hard to get into while a low skill ceiling makes it unrewarding to practice and get good with.

league is a classic example of low skill floor (casuals can enjoy the game at a lower level) and high skill ceiling (you need to be really fucking good to be at the top level of play)

It was replaced with Ascension, which is pretty similar but instead of minions pushing into towers you contest three points. Instead of the buffs in the middle you kill a giant Xerath and take his buff. Kills and point captures give score. Honestly a much better mode.

not him but league is a mechnically very easy game. its not hard to cs. its not hard to right click. its not hard to use the 5 abilities you have on each champ. its not hard to glance at the minimap every 5 seconds. its not hard to understand wave management, and when to go for what objective. however the game is basically hearthstone. you grind like a motherfucker to get to the top. but along the way the shit you have to endure. all the variance the game has to offer. the cancer community on top of the rng. you have to be some special kind of fuckup to actually make it through that without killing yourself.
