Just finished pic related for the first time. What a ride
>what a raiden
fixed
Try the other difficulties, I found MGS2 to be really replayable, even if you have to skip a lot of cutscenes and codec.
Oh yeah, definitely. I've played it countless times. The Snake Tales in Substance are really fun and interesting, too.
fantastic game
cool movie, shame it plays like shit
You gotta play Metal Gear Solid 3 OP
Played every MGS except for MGS2. I really need to get around to it.
Did you have any idea of what was happening in 4?
MGS2 is the only game where unlocking all the upgrades through multiple replays didn't bother me. Holding up soldiers is fun as fuck, and Extreme difficulty is a blast.
Best gameplay
Best aesthetic
Best PR cycle
Thematically gets more relevant as time passes
Whenever I start thinking Kojima and his fans get too up in his ass I remember he made an actual masterpiece with this game.
Don't forget to do the VR missions to appreciate the last tight arcadey gameplay the series has.
I saw my brother play it so I got the gist of it. I really need to experience it myself, though. There's no good excuse for me skipping out on it.
Unironically the best game of all time, glad you, presumably, liked it.
not op but I played 4 before 2 and honestly mostly everything was explained well enough. As long as you actually payed attention to the flashbacks
wtf i love the patriots now?!
>Best aesthetic
I miss the futuristic aesthetics of the first two MGS so much.
just rewatched GotP ending because of this thread. Not ashamed to admit that I cried
...
>tfw already knew the plot of MGS2 and all the twists when I played it for the first time.
>and 3
>and 4
>and PW
gets me every time. The nonsense with big boss after that scene kind of diminished the impact though.
That's the trap.
How can you argue against something reasonable, even if you know it's immoral?
Why do people keep posting this? isn't the entire point of the game that GW is wrong as shit and you need to let people decide for themselves what they believe for better or worse?

one of the most moving scenes ever put in a game
by cutting the gordian knot
user, this is the same board that thinks solidus was a good guy. the same character who orphaned a kid, then raised him as a tool for war, and probably did that countless times. his grand plan involved detonating a nuke above manhattan to create an emp. and yet "solidus did nothing wrong"
>When the parrot keeps saying 'Hal!' after
Did you know that this handshake represents Konami Code?
I think this is the first good MGS thread i've seen after MGSV
hug = select?
Unrelated, but it's getting on my nerves lately.
I'm not interested at all in Survive, but I'm starting to get tired of the Kojima drones who keep shitting on it and say things like "Cancel it, fuck Konami, go Bankrupt" etc.
Are these people ok? They do realise that it's not the big baddies at Konami that are making the game, right?
...
>ywn get a cqc hug from Big Boss
>Wanted to create a free stronghold from Patriot control
>Orchestrated Shadow Moses going against the Patriots demand
>Solidus is somehow a bad guy
That could've been an emotional scene. Too bad it was ruined by Randolph's shitty acting.
The only reason Solidus did anything is because he was an old fart who thought being president of the United States wasn't enough of a legacy for him. He then proceeded to ruin a buch of people's lives to make everything worse for everybody, but it's okay because muh patriots.
Assert your individuality! Show you possess free will!
Can you do that? Do you even have a self?
The answer is that while the Patriots claim that they have 'our' best interest in mind, there is no proof to claim that is the truth.
>trust us, we're smart, humanity is dumb
I'd rather let humanity destroy itself in truth and let evolution destroy us than control evolution.
Are you defending the Patriots? MGS4 should be a pretty good reason as to why that's objectively wrong.
What were the Patriot's endgoal?
GW says some things that at least should make you doubt what you see and think. But in the end he comes to a wrong answer. So, people, seeing a somewhat right premise, accept the conclusion without too much thought.
And why he did all that? Because he was butthurt about Patriots ditching him. He wanted to be remembered, like he's George Washington. That's fucking it. And yet he didn't have even a one ally. Every person by his side betrayed him. Every single one. Why? Because he was a douche who didn't actually care for people near him and who thought he could repeat history.
>Are you defending the Patriots?
False dichotomy. Saying that Solidus is wrong doesn't mean one supports La Li Lu Le Lo.
To ensure a unified world which was Zero's interpretation of the Boss' will.
infinite ammo, huh?
Other than changing camos every 2 minutes, I'd say MGS3 is far more engaging on a gameplay level than MGS2.
You didn't answer the question.
Were they accomplishing that?
I honestly can't remember. I remember something about Zero bitching that the Patriot had gone off track but I can't remember about what.
I'm a bit hazy on the details but wasn't it revealed in 4 that the Patriots were entirely an AI network headed by JFK and they were essentially just instigating proxy wars on a global scale?
Not really, but I can't say Solidus did much better than them. In the end he was just as much of a warmongering tyrant, like the Patriots ended up being in MGS4.
>Run full speed up to an enemy
>Leap at him at 2 meters
>Silent Knockdown every time
People seriously love this?
I'm not the one you replied to, though. But personally, I think both Patriots and Solidus are villains because of their intentions and worldview.
There was a third opposing ideology in the game - Solid's. He was the one in the right, even if it's a bit idealistic. But who are we without ideals?
zero ultimately wanted world peace by controlling every government. the patriots were supposed to accomplish that, but they needed money/power. they used the war economy to gain that. but it was endless
I only played the main games, but didn't Zero ended up getting the philosopher's legacy? Would that have been enough money?
Ocelot got a hold of it in MGS3 and shoved it up his ass or something. I don't remember where it went from there.
No, even worse is that it uses a fixed camera when guards when spot you off screen.
>Playing anything below EE
>MGS3
>running
>silent
It's only silent if you have the Spirit uniform equipped, don't know what you're talking about.
Never played EE admittedly, lower difficulties that completely broke the game.
you'd think so. but in mgs4 they supposedly need the war economy to thrive. it's not just about money though
fission mailed
So what was the will of the Boss?
RAIDEN, TURN THE GAME CONSOLE OFF RIGHT NOW
NWO
Could you imagine living in the Metal Gear world?
Nano machines everywhere, war being the economy of the planet, giant mechas, cyborg ninjas and to top it off, an AI that controls the world because 2 assholes got the wrong idea what a person wanted.
But in a vacuume, who was right, Big Boss or Zero?
They notice you, but not quick enough to raise alert before you jump in their face and get knocked down.
Neither, one wanted a world with no borders or loyalty and the other wanted one completely under one rule.
MGS isn't a black and white series.
Go away Zero.
If there's some other dude around, you get seen anyway. Plus, running and jumping makes you camo index go to shit, so it's not like you can cheese the whole game by doing this.
It's a bad idea even on Normal difficulty.
to let the world be
Hence why I said in a vacuum. If you ignore the nuance in the story and have these two decisions, which would you prefer. Of course, I want Snake and Boss' vision for the world where every man is free to make their own choice.
For God's sake, stop throwing nukes/threatening to throw nukes at each other. Only Solid and Venom, two people who hadn't even met her, understood it. Though admittedly, Venom was too loyal to BB to see what kind of man he became.
youtube.com
If I had to pick I guess I'd go with Zero and have a world under a single rule only because Outer Heaven is an absolute horrible idea under any circumstance.
If Solidus Snake idolized George Washington so much, then why was his codename King in MGS2? Why did he think he was worthy of merit just because of his bloodline? Was Solidus a fraud?
Don't you know the story of George Washington being offered to become a king, and refusing?
Also, it's interesting that Zero wanted Big Boss to be an idol, yet Solidus also idolized George Washington.
Was Ocelot /ourguy/?
>Don't you know the story of George Washington being offered to become a king, and refusing?
That's a myth, and it doesn't seem like Solidus refused.
Yes.
>That's a myth
Oh you mean how Solid Snake and Big Boss and Boss are full of myths?
Isn't it interesting that Solidus misinterpreted George Washington's will?
What was GW's will, the person not the AI.
A unified America.
I'm sure you can sense the irony.
No. He was only loyal to the real big boss not Venom.
I'd think it was freedom and independence and shit, the same thing Solidus was trying to accomplish by standing up to the Patriots.
Hell, his entire death scene is pretty much a monument to his failure to live up to his idol.
In a sense I guess but Solidus wants to liberate the people from the control of the Patriots, is that unity in a sense?
Now granted the whole establishing Outer Heaven in the fallout zone of Manhattan probably wasn't the best way to go about it.
Anyone else get really depressed knowing that MGS is over and you already played all the games?
What's something else I can invest my time in?
Zone of Enders
Series should've ended at 2 to be honest.
>What's something else I can invest my time in?
Zone of Enders.
I bought the ZoE HD thing and I finished the first ZoE and it was average. Sequel any better?
>What's something else I can invest my time in?
Policenauts
2 is actually enjoyable.
One of the absolute best games of all time
It wasn't.
Washington was a military man, retired and simply wanted America to be whole, united and organized. The irony is that it's exactly what the Patriots were doing. But Solidus ate the 'myth' of freedom and liberty and misinterpreted George Washington's will.
Everyone loves to post the where Solidus reaches out to George Washington's status, ignoring the irony of it all. The Declaration of Independence, while done to declare themselves as separated from the British, was primarily done to create unity among America.
It's something I think no one has picked up on.
No, that's called Anarchy.
He wanted to create a zone without laws, without control.
A place where he would be 'King'. Hence why he completely misinterpreted George Washington's will. The clue is the 'King' codename.
>Everyone loves to post the

If you're talking about The 2nd Runner then yes it's great.
>TFW comfy MGS thread is dying
Wow that Metal Gear Survive sure looks cool, hey user?
Game needs to die like this thread desu, is it using Fox engine?
No, Fox Die.
Kek
>PS3 died yesterday when replaying the series
Thoughts on the pc version?
