It doesn't take a lot to be better than JFA or AJ
AJ is among the best.
SOJ is top 3. Literally cannot prove me wrong.
SoJ is up there with T&T and AAI2
In what order is up to personal opinion but those ARE the Top 3
Me personally, I perfer SoJ over T&T because T&T relies too much on repeating elements
Only good thing about AJ is the OST desu, cases got worse as they went on
T&T is the perfect closure for Phoenix
AJ is the perfect closure for Apollo
AAI2 is the perfect closure for Edgeworth
Now we just need the perfect closure for Athena
This is just me but I feel Turnabout Corner is hugely underrated because people pretend Wocky is annoying
Replace AJ with SoJ, my bad
>AAI2 is the perfect closure for Edgeworth
Think you mean perfect closure for Debeste, the main character.
Nigga, we need to start with Athena before we can give her closure
Both are way better than Justice for All and Apollo Justice, that's for sure. One awesome case can't make up for the rest of shit game.
SoJ is better than the original and almost at the same place as the third one.
I wish we never did...
There's no bad games in the series, most of this is just shitty, petty, in-fighting. The series is in an extremely good place.
I just wish they'd bring DGS over, DGS2 stuff looks amazing once again
That would be true if AAI, AJ and DD weren't bad games.
SoJ is average.
Final case is lame as fuck.
It only has 6-2 and 6-3 going for it.
Not really better than anything but DD and AAI
Which would be true if you didn't have shit taste
What do you guys want to see for a potential AA7?
I feel like the series is at a crossroads now, they could fairly easily end all on-going stories pretty quickly. I wouldn't mind a young Mia game.
Nah, they're just bad games.
This is your Inspector Lestrade for today, Sup Forums
Well, Capcom is convinced that anything without Phoenix won't sell in the West, so he has to be involved.
You know, it's probably going to be an Athena game with 1-2 Phoenix cases, and Trucy occasionally assisting with Tell-Spotting (because, you know, she can do that)
This. Although there are better games, all of them are fun to play.
DGS2 is looking even better than DGS, holy shit. It's a shame we're not getting this here.
>>DGS2 is looking even better than DGS
Not very hard to do really.
DGS looked pretty good
Sounded pretty good too
What a shame that it wasn't good, then
Oh yeah the art direction is fine, I hate the game's Pursuit theme but the rest sounds fine.
6-5 is one of the most overrated cases I've seen.
Not only it's just a collection of rehashed plot points from previous final cases, it also features the worst villain in the franchise, does NOTHING to redeem Nahyuta, and it's a bunch of fucking ridiculous drama riddled with retarded characters like Dhurke and Maya.
Of course only Apollofags will think that case was any good because "m-muh character development!"
Turnabout Corner is good, yeah, I actually sorta liked Wocky
Trump is great, Corner is good, Serenade is okay, Succession is underwhelming.
>AA threads around game releases are the most comfy thing ever
>AA threads around a lull in games and information about new ones are just bitching and moaning central
I think that there's no way they're going to localize these on their initial release, but if they get re-released as a bundle and/or on a different platform, the chance of localization will go up significantly
this game always felt like the best to me. I thought everything was just so sharply written and enjoyable. Godot is just a genius character.
The problem with Corner isn't Wocky, everything involving the Kitakis is great. It's that the investigation scenes are REALLY badly paced and have AA1 tier stupid stop gaps and triggers, and you spend the entire first day in court with this asshole not doing anything remotely interesting.
Day 2 is lightyears ahead of day 1, but in the end it's a kind of middling case.
There's a guess doing the rounds that it's not Capcom's unwillingness to localize (as AA is doing okay) but copyright issues surrounding Sherlock Holmes
Man, Phoenix Drive...
What an ancient fap
...
SoJ is my third favorite in the series
After the trilogy Ace Attorney became about waifufaggotry
that doesn't even make sense
Nothing makes sense when your brain is as large as an apple.

Hey guys, just as a heads up 2-2 technically started today (Dr. Grey visitsPhoenix), but the murder doesn't occur until the 19th.
See you all on Monday.
Oh shit, did we miss 2-1?
>T&T is the perfect closure for Phoenix
Felt like it was the perfect closure for the Fey characters more than Phoenix himself personally. Probably just me being pedantic here but I didn't see it as "closure" for him at all, he's still a defense attorney in a system with all the odds ridiculously stacked against him. He was able to finally formally overtake Mia but he didn't become any less useable as a character I felt.
It is easier to say this now with hindsight and shit though I guess.
Pretty sure what the west thinks has little to no effect on anything. We almost didn't get DD at all and that game was marketed as Phoenix's return even. Most of the sales of this franchise are from Japan, it's well-known but not as financially major in the west as people here pretend it is.
No, that's in September.
Oh right, I forgot that 2-2 was a flashback
SoJ is fucking garbage.
AAI2 is also bad.
And just to be thorough, Big Top isn't until after Christmas and Farewell, My Turnabout takes place in March.
Damn, long wait. I feel like we aren't going to top the 1-4 threads though, just because that case is so tied to its date as well as probably being the case EVERYONE knows
AAI2 isn't bad but it is overrated.
AAI2's great but people overlook some of it's flaws (the sheer amount of coincidences going on in that final case's crime was completely ridiculous, for example)

Do you compress this image again every time you post it?
Is it that time again
no, it's just really old, has been edited a lot
first one was from 2013
i will kick myself every time for not thinking of the victims as case pictures idea, it works so well
That'd be kinda dumb considering another visual novel got away with:
aksysgames.com
And near the end, a bad guy tells him that's a pathetic anagram
that dumb namechange might juuuuuuuust be enough to let it through, though
the holmes estate's copyright is super tenuous to start with anyway
Isn't Sherlock Holmes in the public sphere now?
you guys do know case 2-2 is supposed to be happening soon, right? are we gonna have threads/streams again?
Fun Fact: The first copyright infringement involving a fictional character in history involved Sherlock Holmes, and it was resolved in the same way (changing the character's name to Herlock Sholmes).
Phoenix is gonna lose this case because there are not parrots involved
screencap this
not in the US, or at least not fully, last I heard
everywhere else he is but Capcom doesn't localize if the US doesn't get it
AJ wasn't that bad and it at least used its hardware (examining evidence as 3D objects) and you had to somewhat investigate.
DD was automode the entire time, you couldn't even investigate unrelated objects for dialogue. The only good thing about it is weeb-prosecutor.
>muh dark age of law
I like how SoJ went back to that stuff but story was stupid, Nahyuda is insufferable. I also think that he and his mother are legit retards.
I was completely expecting Amara to be the real villain by the end
>tfw zero (0) porn of these two milf sisters
Such is the fate of most Ace Attorney women
Me too. Especially because of her cross-examination/breakdown. After that she's just gone. Also she's missing completely from the ending movie or whatever.
i dont think the murder has happened yet. remember kayfabe is god in the threads
what
Why does PLvsPWAA gets good so late into the game?
>Those fucking hips
>tfw what could've been
such a shame that there isn't a model viewer in game.
Do you still say that after that fucking ending?
Hey guys......
The game really starts to slog after Layton 'dies.' He drives the plot. Phoenix is a bumbling idiot who just reacts to things. Once he comes back, things start to pick up again.
It's called PLvsAA for a reason.
Only recently finished SoJ and had a month break from marathoning the AA games. Now I want to know, are the Professor Layton games more or less fun than AA? And do I need to play those before playing PL vs AA?
Raidou in my AA?
The twist is stupid even for Layton's standards.
I could see that if you never actually played a Layton game before and only researched it.
I literally played every single one of them before playing PLvsAA.
Something tells me you're lying
>are the Professor Layton games more or less fun than AA?
They're entirely different, so it depends on how much you like puzzles
>do I need to play those before playing PL vs AA?
No
Not him but every Layton but Miracle Mask relies on one ridiculous thing to resolve itself. PLvAA has a bunch. Hypno-ink, poison water, knockout bells, and PURE BLACK all come together to make the giant pile of retardation that is the explanation for Labyrinthia.
For the record though, I do think it's hilarious that everyone was cool with it and continued living there after the fact.
Miracle Mask has I CREATED A REPLICA OF THE PARK JUST FOR AN ILLUSION, but that one is barely relevant.
PURE BLACK is no dumber than Everyone was a robot, Hypno-gas, an underground bunker, and ACTUAL, FOR REAL, GIANT MONSTERS.
Hypno-Gas is a special kind of dumb, but not as dumb as everything in PLvsAA together.
I'll never get over Magic Turnabout being lower than Rite and Cosmic/Tomorrow in this list. I think all the Reus shitposting gave the case a bad press back in the day.
I loved 6-2. It was one of the most fun cases in the series.
It's definitely one of the best in the series, everything about it was just so good, you could tell it was made with love
I like to think of it as an apology letter for 4-3
I'm at chapter 5 of the first AA and a girl that looks like a best girl was just introduced, and so far has been a good game, 7/10.
I would like it better if it wasn't so episodic and it had a story through all the game instead of 5 different stories, are the other games like this? How good are the other games in comparison?
2 doesn't really have a really clear overall plot, 3 does, 4 somewhat, 5 definitely has and 6 too. Investigations kinda has an overall plot and I2 is the most overall plot oriented of them all.
The later games have an overarching story.
>How good are the other games in comparison?
If you like the first game even with your glaring criticism, you'll enjoy every single one. Even the worst games are still good games.
1 and 2 are character arcs, 3 has an overarching story but it's still separated into five different cases.
>2
>character arc
No one actually grows as a character in 2, they just learn new information clouded by forced drama
Would you guys prefer it if the series just went back to Phoenix only, kept Apollo as a deuteragonist, or kept Athena for the trifecta?
