>Jeff: So there’s a boss fight in there where you fuckin’ play Mean Bean Machine. Where you play Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. It just– it just erupts in to that. And you’re just like, “fuckin’ WHAT?”
I don't care. I'd rather they make an original and unique level.
Guaranteed, everytime.
they are not showing them because they don't want to spoil anything
...
I am so gosh darn excited to see this level.
naoto oshima himself, the designer of sonic played and gave the mania team his blessing at this e3, loved the fuck out of it in a interview
sega team eternally blown the fuck out
hyodrocity confirmed from leaker
Sonic 1 Remix Level: Green Hill Zone
Sonic 2 Remix Level: Chemical Plant Zone
Sonic 3 Remix Level: ? ? ?
Sonic K Remix Level: Flying Battery Zone
I'm assuming they might be going for one remix level per Genesis Sonic game, and my expectation is that, unless a Sonic 3 stage has already been revealed, Ice Cap or Carnival Night will be the next remixed classic level (most likely Ice Cap).

Damn, didn't read your post until I posted my speculation. Really hope it's not Hydrocity, but I guess it's likely.
In b4 Marble Garden.
daily reminder thy're double dipping with each game, so everybodu should add the second level they want from each game
actual big fucking leak this time, every spoilers, but if you watch the saloon gameplay, it's quiet obvious
The boss to the Mirage Saloon is Fang the Sniper, and the other two, which are in the videos but I have no clue what there name is.[/spoiler[
>Jeff: It has the elemental shield stuff from Sonic 3 that I was never a huge fan of.
Damn Jeff I didn't no somebody could be such a fucking faggot
Pretty sure all the new zones are using the Hard Boiled Heavies they revealed.
Both acts have bosses
That's true, but considering all we've seen of Mirage Saloon is act 2 and it has both the wanted posters and portraits of the Heavy around I'd place my bets on the Heavy being the boss. So following that logic the act 1 boss is still a shot in the dark.
My set:
Sonic 1: Spring Yard Zone
Sonic 2: Mystic Cave Zone
Sonic 3: Ice Cap Zone
Sonic K: Sky Sanctuary
People started bitching about the hole that the Death Egg Robot makes when it's destroyed because they thought it would be a cheap death if you got caught under it.
Taxman made a post on Sonic Retro saying it's impossible to die from that which makes it sound like it could be a stage transition.
Stage transition to Labyrinth Zone?
He's full of shit, I've seen people playing that died when the robot falls and opens up that hole
That's probably just for the demo because they don't want to reveal what's down there.
I just played the 3DS 3D ports of Sonic 1 and Sonic 2, and 2 isn't as big of an improvement as I remembered. 1's acts last longer and give you more opportunity to fuck around with the physics than 2's faster paced acts. Also 1 doesn't have Metropolis zone. 2 is still a tad better but not by nearly as much as people make it out to be.
tldr Sonic 1 is underrated.
>Really hope it's not Hydrocity
Reggie asking what's wrong with you.jpg
I can agree with that, sonic 2 takes a downgrade in quality near the end and although 2 fixes some of the problems sonic 1 had I'd say it's a more consistent experience. Also marble zone isn't that bad, labyrinth on the other hand is kinda a pain but I'd rather deal with that than Metropolis zone.
Not him but Hydrocity is tied with Carnival Night as the worst Sonic 3 level.
Metropolis Zone is the best S2 zone and Sonic 1 is the best game.
>The same 2d generic sonic shit
What the hell makes you say that? Marble garden zone is the worst in S3
>Metropolis Zone is the best S2 zone
You must be a masochist
That's Forces. This is Mania.
I played all 3 taxman ports in the last couple of days and Sonic 1 is honestly worse than I remember. I really don't have much praise for it. CD does physic playing a lot better than either and 2 has more enjoyable visuals and music than 1.
Marble Garden is a real shitstain on Sonic 3. What an awful level.
Starlight or Mystic Cave for a night stage, Hidrocity and Lava Reef(they will probably pull Death Egg again though)
>many asked the Mania team, if it is possible for 2 classic levels from same game
>they always say "just wait, we have more surprises"
>Stealth said that one of the fav things he made into the game haven't been showed yet
>claiming the levels were thought as a CD+S3&K
>that the game is longer than Generations
This shit will have the same amount of zones as S3&K combined for sure, there is room for a Star Light or a Mystic Cave
That's why Chemical Plant act 2 has those jelly machines, because those are the bean machines
Sonic 1 has much better level design than CD. So does Marble Zone for that matter. Like I'm used to Sup Forums having garbage taste but you're really pushing it.
He said marble GARDEN zone
CD is the best sonic game and it's a blight on this project that they're putting levels from the other games in it.
>You must be a masochist
I won't deny some flaws: like the crab hurtbox. But overall it's pretty satisfying going fast and avoiding the enemies.
Imo the worst S2 zone is Wing Fortress.
He didn't like 3 in general. He liked 2.
Real talk: Will we see Hyper forms?
They should have used this instead of Green Hill Zone for the 500th time.
Likely not.
>Spring Yard
Studiopolis already covers that
>be a kid
>hated Metropolis, Marble Garden and Carnival Night Act2(for being long like 6 to 8 minutes)
>keep playing all classics over the years
>get better and learn the right paths and shortcuts
>don't take damage in those zones and do them fast as hell(like Carnival act 2 in 3 minutes and half)
>those 3 zones are now my favorites for the branching paths and secrets
You know Metropolis Zone act 3 when those 2 set of bolts happens? You know how there are slicers right before that? Don't kill them. If you kill them one of their cousins will appear the top throwing you down before the teleporter. If don't kill them he isn't there. It is little shit like this that makes these zones better
Yeah I meant Marble Garden. Although Marble Zone also gets shit on unfairly. Sup Forums just likes the low-effort stages they can rush through. Hell I'm starting to think you guys rate levels based soley on the music.
CD is the worst 2D Sonic game and that's including 4.
>2 has more enjoyable visuals and music
So thats how shit taste looks like
>level designers are designing the levels to be wide like CD, but more streamlined like 3&K
Sound good or bad?
Sky Chase is the worse. It is only good the first time, after that it is a chore doing that 2 minute zone with the enemies in the same places
CD should have been the only sonic, though they truly fixed the level design with the Advance and Rush games once they realized that platformers are supposed to be about death pits and not long stretches of fucking nothing.
hydrocity is literally the best s3k level you double nigger
This one is jammin!
>Sonic 1 has much better level design than CD.
How though? Marble has platforming sure, but it's basic as all hell just because it isn't hold right it doesn't make it good, Spring yard has those stupid elevator segments that drag down an otherwise okay level, Labyrinth is the worst water level in the classic series, Starlight is okay but too short and the visuals are pretty bland to be honest, and Scrap Brain I generally like but then Act 3 is just Labyrinth again but with a shortcut if you don't feel like fucking with it. CD has some questionable design in places(no real incentive for good futures, Wacky Workbench, spike balls all over Stardust Speedway) but it is by far a much more interesting game.
>So does Marble Zone for that matter
Is this referring to me mentioning Marble Garden from 3? Yeah m8 awful level.
CDjp>3&K>2>1 in terms of ost.
Is it pronounced Hydro City or Hydrocity?
CDfags need to be gassed.
It's pronounced "Shit Level"
Until now it looks good. Chemical Act 1 looks like a mix of Sonic 2 and Sonic 3, but act 2 looks like CD+3(more horizontal+speed). Then you have Green Hill act 1, Studiopolis or Mirage Salloon that looks like Sonic 1 speedy levels(like Starlight) but with platforming too from 1. Green Hill Act 2 looks like S3
They are really mixing shit up to please all fans from the classics and CD
The level designers for Mania are big fans of CD, though
>Hydrocity
>shit level
This is not about Metropolis you autistic dipfuck.
Here's a developer interview:
>thy're double dipping with each game
You fuckin kiddin me? What a waste.
They hate spikes. They probably run into spikes all the time and against those flying spiky robots, because of running like retards. They probably don't know the amount of paths that shit has
It's like those who say that cant find big rings on certain levels, like Marble Garden, Carnival, Flying Battery, Sandapolis or Lava Reef
You've got some nerve.
I've heard that Hyper Forms won't be included in the game, but I think it was a rumor.....
I'm still holding out for a Magic-Based level in Mania. One of the HBH's have a tophat in the silhouette picture, so I think it's going to get in.
What new level theme are you hoping for?
I'm looking forward to this so much. Hope that you can play this in multiplayer.
Giant Bomb wouldn't be Giant Bomb without condescending super hard and fucking up like this. Still, that boss sounds great.
Game looks great and I can't wait to play it.
I can't wait for [zone that has been in a dozen games of sonic like green hill] to be shown AGAIN!!!!! really excited to see my favorite level redone ONCE AGAIN i really hate new things!
>sonic team eternally blown the fuck out
Tell me about it.
Can you post an example?
Source?
Robotnikland, pic not related.
>It's like those who say that cant find big rings on certain levels, like Marble Garden, Carnival, Flying Battery, Sandapolis or Lava Reef
they're all over the place in those ones, jesus fuck what is wrong with people?
>4
>over ANYTHING
You're retarded, m8.
Either they're just trying to have spicy opinions, or they all grew up with an SNES instead of a Genesis. Complete fox and grapes situation.
The Heavy Gunner is confirmed to be the boss of Studiopolis act 1, don't see why the rest of them wouldn't be mini bosses as well.
Whats the point in so much active discussion and disection in what will ultimately be a two hour game?
>OMG x STAGE LEAKED!
>WOAH PREPARE TO EXPERIENCE THIS THREE MINUTES OF GAMEPLAY
In Flying Battery is pretty obvious they don't know how to spindash or push some spikes and let the character fall down through a tube. At least 2 big rings are hidden like that and in one Mania's trailers there is one spike like that too
Alternate routes, maybe?
It's like people are excited for it or something.
>Alternate routes
>imediatly after beating the stage boss
It's a level transition to Labyrinth Zone.
Bullshit. What does Hydrocity do even half as terrible as Carnival Night act 2's almost 9 minute long trek? You just saying that because "hurf durf water level?"
I like the retro 'just Sonic, Tails, and knuckles' in Mania, but I don't get the aversion to additional playable characters some people have.
Playing as Amy or Blaze for example in a 2d Sonic doesn't seem bad of an idea, so long as they can spindash.
It literally boils down to "Not muh childhood."
They played Sonic back in the 90's and haven't glanced in his direction since, and want 100% of the focus on where they left off.
The riff happened when people complained about other characters only bringing gimmicky filler gameplay that took away from the Sonic gameplay people liked, but Sonic Team simply took this to mean people didn't like the other characters period and instead chose to just slap gimmicky filler gameplay on Sonic himself while slowly removing the other characters from the games.
>Blaze
Oh yeah, that wouldn't clash with the classic art style and designs at all.
>Carnival Act 2
>9 minutes
Kek. Just find the right paths and do it for half of it.
I dont mind extra character if they play the same as others. Be Blaze, Amy, Shadow, Metal Sonic, or some of the Chaotix.
Or Marble.
Scrap Brain is also a possibility (Act 3 in S1)
Blaze came out at an unfortunate time, but does stand out as a good character. I also loved how Amy played in Advance so i'd be cool with both of them. Maybe Amy at least could be in the sequel. I don't think Blaze has a chance.
Are you suggesting they remove her clothes?
Awesome
Amy was actually really fun. I like the gimmick of walloping springs with her hammer to send her extra high.
Oh yeah, jump into a pit around a massive lake and end up in Marble/Scrap Brain, that totally makes sense. Check the stage select screen for Sonic 1 to see the original level order in that game.
No?
What I'm hearing is you want to see some exposed puss.
