When Microsoft made the BC announcement at E3 this was pretty much the only game that came to mind that I wanted to play.

It's a damn fine game, but the xbox was one or two gens too late to take advantage of the time when you needed only one or two big "console sellers" to be decent.

Eh, yes and no. I feel like PC ports, at the time, didn't amount to what they do now. Even then, KotR I know didn't launch on PC and Fable wasn't ported for like a year.

Yeah, my PS3 eventually just ended up being a nostalgia box -- I got all the decent HAD collections and the PS1 Classics I could find and just play stuff from previous gens on it. Only Demon's Souls, MGS4 and God of War 3 were really worth playing for me as far as exclusives go.

NGB was awesome, one of the best games ever made, but PS2 had DMC, GoW, Onimusha, Odin Sphere, Okami, etc etc. PS2 was the place to be for action games.

Was online on the PS2 ever big? I jumped on the Xbox Live bandwagon as soon as it came out and it seemed to be more of a thing on Xbox compared to PS2. Maybe because you had to buy an adapter on the PS2 even though PS2 had free online so it was cheaper to play online on PS2 instead of paying for XBL after a year. The only notable online games on the PS2 that I can think of are socom and final fantasy. I remember I was playing Unreal Tournament on Xbox Live when the news broke that they found Saddam.

I'm pretty sure a game like sudeki or the original buffy the vampire slayer could never run on the ps2. Those games still hold up good today.

The difference is that PS2 had tons of worthwhile games, it also had a lot of trash, yes, but among that trash they were a lot of low budget/mid budget niche titles that were interesting and fun.
The wii had the worst kind of low budget games, because most of the times they were shitty gimmicky games like minigame compilation #340, Wii Sports Clones and Horse Petting games. I don't hate the Wii and I don't care about casuals, but the game library was mostly abysmal.

When the xbox and ps2 were out I really liked that I could play pc games on the xbox like Morrowind and KotR because my pc wasn't good enough I didn't know how to build one

I owned Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube back in the day. Xbox was my favorite, all those kickass nights playing Halo 2, I'll never forget. Gamecube was my second favorite, a lot of great games on there. PS2 was just a machine for games that didn't play better elserwhere.
