Explain the CHIM to me.
Explain the CHIM to me
It's realizing that life is a dream, but that it doesn't mean that it can't be your dream too.
Then you start lucid dreaming and can access the devkit.
If you fuck up and think you don't exist because it's a dream then you actually end up not existing because belief is everything.
CHIM is when a character from the game realises they are in a video game. Kirkbride admitted this. Any other answer is incorrect.
irrelevant lore
just like the Towers
pay no heed to them
It's like how you hit the backquote/tilde key (`) and then you can do anything but you're also reminded, front-and-center, that you're playing a video game. And then it's not clear if you want to keep playing, because you could also just set your stats to anything you want with Set(Skill/Attribute) 1000 or kill anything with SetCurrentHealth 0, and what am I even doing with my life.
I have attained CHIM, outlander
Unfortunately this
He might be trolling, but he's right. Modern Bethesda doesn't give a fuck.
I'm only half-trolling.
I'm always more interested in the politics between the cultures but it's always m-muh CHIM discussions in any lore thread.
At the same time, you should never put canon on a pedestal. Interpretations that came from a week-long coke binge will always be more interesting than whatever Bethesda shits out, and it's not like Todd's blessing will, in itself, make your life better.
and the pronunciation actually does not rhyme with "Tim", it rhymes with... well, Rhyme.
Pronounced the same way as Chimer, which is "ky-mer"
As I understand it, there's two real opinions, but they both agree on the self-awareness and zero-sum. The split is basically:
1. CHIM allows you to bend reality to your whim. The mechanism for doing so is accessing the game console.
2. CHIM can allow you to bend reality, but does not necessary always allow it. This is done through some unknown/vague mechanism, and not (always) the game console.
but c0da is canon now
so is wheels of lull
It's the code word Todd Howard uses for his lemon parties.
Apparently not knowing what the fuck you're talking about.
so CHIM is the matrix red pill when you realize you're in a simulation and can stop bullets if you believe
How do you attain IRL CHIM?
You make your minds reality and reality itself indistinguishable
So you have to become bat shit crazy
You are already in a CHIM state, you are just too lazy to do anything with it.
shhh
>that kid that noclipped in school
Is openMW ready yet?
You have to realize that the conscious reality is entirely arbitrary and that there are no set truths. We can define anything as reality.
same way you become a god
Kill my liege and mentor, cut off his feet, then steal the heart of a god and use it to ascend?
Force your own perception upon the world and it becomes truth. It doesn't matter if that's universal. Your own self is the truth.
you also need tools made by a race that disappeared when they tried to use them
>just b urrself bro, be confident :)
Neither of those is correct. CHIM doesn't have anything to do with breaking the fourth wall because the god dream you hijack by using CHIM is still within the bounds of the setting
gas chambers?
The ingame canon reason Oblivion takes place in generic-medieval land instead of a roman jungle.
Just accept it already, its been 11 years.
This whole thing is a fake ass dream. You're just a fragment of a slumbering god's consciousness. If you realize that, without realizing that you are also fake, you can tweak the fabric of the dream world.
You can take it a step further and achieve amaranth by hijacking the entire rest of the godhead's consciousness, too. That allows you to shape the entire dream as you please, from the ground up.
If you indulge your idiot players and keep writing shit when they ask you "but how does..." questions you'll eventually end up with some stupid-ass cosmology.
