I personally think the game is super fucking fun, however a major gripe I have with it is the lack of content. I don't usually play fighting games but Nintendo stroked my hyper-meat so much that I ended up getting it.
Also the fucking system for getting different ARMS. I absolutely hate it. You get one fucking shot at punching the present at the back and if your piss poor at these types of games then you'll miss and fucking shit yourself because you realise how terrible you actually are.
I had a lot fun during the test fire. Right now I'm just grinding my chops against the CPU
Kevin Rodriguez
Ive held off on buying it. Going to wait next month and get Splatoon2. Fighting games arent my thing, but if they add some more game modes i might pick it up if it hits a sale this holiday.
Josiah Williams
Remember TO ALWAYS go after the Ninjara first in free for all matches
Dominic Fisher
having a blast trying to clear the grands prix, will probably get online once I feel sufficient that I'm not a shitter
Jason Harris
I like it a lot but I'm sick and tired of fighting hored of Min Min, Ribbon Girl and Ninjara in ranked. Why do shitters think these characters are good in any way?
The worst about the game is that is has no penalty for quitting, but that's also good because it means if you are a shitty grabspammer I'm going to disconnect in match 2 and leave you with no points.
Hudson Barnes
It was clearly a short development time to get shit out in switch fast. The calendars pretty empty right now.
They were probably like fuck it we'll add content as we go
Bentley Mitchell
wii boxing for full price. if this was some early access shit on steam nobody would defend it but of course nintenbros are insane
Henry Harris
...
Sebastian Flores
There are many shitters in party mode, come join us user, it's fun!
Jaxson Reyes
It's shit
David Hill
agree with all those points.
i hate the fucking motion controls, and wish they put more time in just developing traditional and making it standard. i know people like them, but fuck, i can't get into them at all. i wish there was a (better) way to change width of grabs on traditional, and an easier way to block.
Nolan Campbell
buff dudes with nice bums in tight clothes
James Bennett
Shit game, not worth premium and a fisher Price tablet.
Christian Mitchell
I love this game, back then when it was announced there were no way I could believe that this game had the potential to be one of my favourite. I don't feel like that it lack content and with future updates it will grow anyway. I can understand that not having that much solo content can turn people off (even if when you think about it isn't that bad, you have : GP, survival mode, random arms mode, the minigame to get new arms and a complete "tutorial/training mode" (and if you want a training mode more traditionnal you can do it to)))
Jackson Perry
If you block you are a shitter. Just move all the time.
Landon Martin
solo content is fine. just needed individual the grand prix a bit more fleshed out to expand the lore of individual characters, and make it more satisfying to play through.
Carson Clark
>If you're bad at the game, you'll do bad.
No shit. Whatever happened to easing into a game by learning it's mechanics and gaining skills through continuous play. Y'know.. gitting gud?
Are people too lazy to do even that nowadays?
Mason White
I agree. I think they saw that it irked with Splatoon and wanted to get something out to fill the library. I'm enjoying it but I am horrible online.
Leo Ross
>why do people have shitty taste in characters This isn't anything new. Min Min and Ninjara were going to be the most popular as soon as they were revealed because most people like: >waifus >fast, speedy characters
Caleb King
Worked*
Jacob Wood
Talking about GP, does anyone bothered with clearing it with all characters ? If so, does it unlock anything ?
I have done 7 characters out of 10 but since I do it at lvl 7 it takes a while
Christian Nguyen
And while I'm at it, in the help section some scores for modes like survival are mentionned, does beating it unlock anything ?
Logan Lewis
So has anyone ripped the soundtrack yet? I'm not talking youtube rips, I'm talking FLAC or MP3 rips for personal use.
Michael Butler
Can you even make a lobby with your friends?
Isaiah Martin
Yes but we won't let you into our special Sup Forums lobby
Noah Gray
People who can't git gud or don't use waggle are bored of it. The others are still playing. I'm enjoying it a lot, it's going to make for a fun party game. As of right now, it should be $40, but we'll see what happens with the free dlc
Alexander Johnson
Are you implying that id ever want to play a game with you people?
Elijah Rivera
Playing for an hour and I already wanna go and play street fighter lol
Camden Cooper
What's wrong, mommy won't buy you one?
Andrew Jenkins
You got it cause switch literally is dying for games. Dont fool yourself. Though i still want to get a switch but waiting till end of year until nintendo quits being incompetent and produces more consoles to keep up with demand.
Chase Johnson
I give it a pass in it's content lauch because I bought Street Fighter 5 on launch day
William Campbell
You should try user we are fun :3
Jace Campbell
rude!
Jordan Robinson
No we're not >:(
Brandon Perry
y-you won't b-bully if i inquire for an invitation, r-right user?
Alexander Barnes
Wait for free updates. It made the first splatoon so fun

Samuel Long
>Waifus >Fast Speedy Character
Why doesn't anyone talk about Ribbon Girl who has both of those traits then? I'm just thinking Asian-like characters are more popular
Nathan Reed
It's really fun but it's fucking hard. Makes me think everyone I fought in the test punch was a bunch of turds.
>Kicked ass pretty consistently in the test punch, always had like 80-90 coins before the hour was up >Last day of the test punch was a struggle but I still finished off with like 60 coins >Get the game >Fart around for a bit on the lower levels 1-3 >Decide to take on level 4 >Can't get past Spring Man in match 5
Jesus Christ send help That motherfucker is like DBZ flash stepping though all of my punches and just totally whipping my ass
Angel Myers
damn right. Thos i've met a SINGLE non grabby ninjare. he was cool.
Charles Long
>this game has no lo- bab helix had a crush on twintelle
Tyler Taylor
Who are you playing and with wich arms ? If you win a round and lose the next one, as soon as you are KO'd press start and go back to the main menu, it will reset the round but not the match. Also, in springman's stage my favourite strategy is to put a lot of pressure into the opponent so that he is trapped in the corner. Good luck user
Ryder Ward
I think it's lacking content but not the sort of stuff we'll see as DLC.
There's no meaningful single player content, which is bad for a) there's 84,267 things to grind but minimal ways to do it and b) single player is where you teach people how to play your game and it's lacking here. The "tutorial" on grabs is a single line that says "don't get grabbed"
The moveset are kind of shallow too. Only one type of throw. Can't grab out of shields. Shields should probably have permanent degradation. The timer seems like a last minute idea to keep party mode flowing and not properly tested. The game wants a scoring system and not just KOs. Moves should decrease in efficiency with repeated use. There are both too many and not enough unlockable at the same time.
There's a great core here but it feels rushed AF more than Splatoon ever did.
Christopher Williams
I literally can't win a single grand Prix march what the fuck is this?
Samuel Cox
>Player vs Player >Pretty much dance around and weave my way to victory
>Player vs Comp lvl 4 and up >Must train myself not to think about my inputs and to use my sixth sense so that I may obtain a higher spiritual being and maybe, just maybe win at least one round
Gavin Cox
git gud
Zachary Foster
>77
Landon Baker
Matches against CPU & Ranked matches are night and day.
The single player content is nice but fighting actual people is a shitload more engaging whereas the CPU can be frustrating at times, like most fighting games.
Its very easy to pick up and play, and I'm suprising how quick and reliable the online matchmaking is
Henry Murphy
Are you guys using pro controller or waggling?
I've played all the test punches waggling, I tried handheld yesterday and I couldn't win a lvl 2 match.
Hunter Evans
>childhood crush
Helix is 2. How does it work
Chase Jones
I'm the opposite of that. I really like the motion controls, but I just can't win while using them. When I use a normal controller I do just fine. I've cleared level 4 grand prix 3 times now.
Jaxson Barnes
>Can't grab out of shields. It seems like you can, not sure about what you're refering to >Shields should probably have permanent degradation. No because the degradation are on the arms themselves (and their degradation stays a lot of time), having a degraded arms (yellow warning) makes your dashes and punches vulnerable and you are very likely to have it "broke" then grabbed >The timer seems like a last minute idea to keep party mode flowing and not properly tested What ? > The game wants a scoring system and not just KOs. What? >Moves should decrease in efficiency with repeated use. No because you have only 2 different moves and in most cases one to approach and one to defend yourself. By making a move inefficient with repeated use it would encourage defensive play and the game clearly wants to allow both defensive and offensive playstyles (for instance : the more attack you do even if doesn't land, the faster your hyper jauge will be filled but in the other hand you have things like auto counter (shield an attack and dash in it)) >There are both too many and not enough unlockable at the same time. Kinda agree, but maybe there's hidden unlockables (if you beat the dev scores in survival for example)
Lucas Nelson
I've done my best with controller using L+R for punches and X+Y for jump. A+B feels kind of weird when I need to charge or maneuver
Parker Gutierrez
I just love how easy it is to jump and dash with the motion controls, those are the only 2 buttons you use, and they're right at your thumbs
Playing with them as your face buttons just ruins me, I guess I'll just keep playing my 2 hour shadowboxing sessions.
Anthony Ramirez
ARMS feels like Splatoon all over again. Im expecting ARMS 2 to come out after 2 years and having all the content that should've been here in the first game to begin with, just like they did with Splatoon 2
Nolan Peterson
Motion controls do feel nice, and I find them very fun. But I have a lot of trouble moving around with them. I feel so much more free and mobile while playing with a controller, so I guess that's why I prefer it. But if I just want to have some pure fun I'll switch over to motion controls.
Jonathan Adams
I don't have a Switch and can't play the game, but reading this thread I'd just like to say how fucking funny I find the complaints about "grab spam"
You idiots realize that if someone tried to grab you when you aren't in recovery you got a free hit, right? That you can knock a glove away and that breaks the throw attempt leaving them open for your other arm?
I can't even fathom how you must play to lose to "grab spam" do you just immediately and constantly air dash and throw both arms out regardless of what your opponent is doing?
Levi Campbell
The issue is that scrubs break the grab with a single punch and expect a huge opening.
If the guy throws both arms for a grab, there's no reason for you to not throw both arms out for a null punch and a counter.
Ayden Rivera
Even if the complaints about grab spams are funny, sometimes grabs are safe even if you aren't in recovery considering the caracters and the angle of the grab (especially if you're above someone)
Anthony Ross
I don't think people are actually losing to "grab spam". If one throws a punch and it's way off course or the opponent dodges the opposite way, there's enough time and space to connect a grab if the other player isn't completely up to snuff.
There's also the fact that some characters, like Ribbon girl, can get some major air. If she's three hops above you and less than 5 feet away, that's almost always a free grab. Mechanical can do the same in stages with elevated areas.
Jason Jenkins
since other threads result in console war shit im gonna repost it here but... why are people disappointed that arms got the #2 spot on uk sales chart, along with splatoon numbers?i think it's a pretty decent result considering it's still the #41 best 2017 videogame seller on amazon and it's also doing ok in japan
Brandon Anderson
is it actually a fighting game? looks more like an action game
Lucas Sullivan
Because everything on Sup Forums is console war BS
Carson Anderson
Mario Kart 8 was the first game to hit #1 in UK charts in like 5+ years
Arms hitting #2 here is really impressive considering its a new IP and UK is basically Sonyville
It feels like Level 7 Hedlok is a lot easier with Helix despite everything else being really fucking tough for him in the Grand Prix.
Parker Gomez
This is your dinner tonight.
Joseph Baker
thats what im sayin, why are people surprised and especially disappointed? even neogaf is filled with "yeah, this will not have the same word of mouth that splatoon had" (??????) i think they simply don't care a lot about nintendo, like italy
Cooper Thompson
>Ninjara players
Jonathan Baker
It's nothing personal, they just hate everything that isn't FIFA
Angel James
I want to know this too
It seems like actual punching is a waste of time since it's so easy to dodge
When was the last time you actually hit someone with a charge shot? Never
Carson Bailey
The last time I hit someone with a charged hit was the last time I charged a hit. It's not hard if you know proper duck and weaving.
Lucas Hughes
So ranked levels up every character not each on individually?
Landon Collins
I like it, but because it's a fighting game, people naturally gravitate to whatever's easiest. Testpunch was Ninjara, first day was Kid Cobra and now every ranked match is either Min Min or Ribbon Girl turtling with slap arms. My friends no longer want to play with me because I always win and when I suggest they stop spamming jump and throwing both arms, they don't take it onboard (which is cool I guess) but get super passive aggressive and whiny. In conclusion, I am having as much fun as I normally do with a fightan game but I'm scared tourney play will be "stock 3 only".
Brody Flores
I hit my charged slapamanders like 60% of the time
Straight arms is stupidly hard to hit though, I tried Sparkys and I never hit.
Aaron Price
I use Pro Controller and win basically all the time.
Joseph Nelson
>Min Min Fuck i was happy not seeing her played much i dont want to be a special snowflake but i hate looking like a bandwagonner
Carson Davis
Slapamanders are amazing against people who don't know the game properly yet lol
Brayden Nelson
Honestly, it doesn't really need that much content, I think they were just more focused on the multiplayer. Splatoon has suffered a similar problem where the single player is fun but is woefully under developed for what is an otherwise very interesting set of lore and characters.
Hopefully Arms will sell enough that Nintendo will see fit to release supplementary materials like a tie in manga or something
Parker Brooks
>Splatoon has suffered a similar problem splatoon was only 30 € and still felt more complete
i bought arms and have a lot of fun with it but it's a bit overpriced
Jonathan Jones
He's a fucking blob thingy; he was probably born as a smaller version of himself and grew for a few months.
Andrew Reed
Arms aren't fire-and-forget unless you're using the homie or the seekie. You have to physically stop moving and steer them.
Kevin Jackson
chacrams > slaps helix > everyone else
Oliver James
Splatoon cost me 60 American dollarydoos when I bought it brand new a year ago. And GameStop is still charging 50 for unused copies
Arms cost me 60 as well
The problem really is the cost of manufacturing physical media still hasn't gone down and companies like Nintendo have to keep e-shop prices for games with physical releases on par with one another to stay on the good side of retailers
Josiah Williams
I just noticed that Helix looks like the target practice things when you do "Warm Up"
Parker Gomez
>tfw bretty gud now playing against the AI >tfw still get destroyed, even by shitters, online

how? people sucks even the start of ranked is easier
Evan Barnes
No Fifanation
Dominic Hall
i get too tense and make stupid mistakes.
>people sucks even the start of ranked is easier
this is how i won the first time. but i was legitimately matched with someone who was literally god awful and didn't seem to have ever played before. i probably come off as similarly though in the majority of matches.

>Helix >Hold Stretch >Spam charged punches

But Arms gets free content updates throughout the year. Including new arms and characters.
Jose Sullivan
I'm so confused. Why does Sup Forums hate this game so much?
