What games had the worst remakes?
What games had the worst remakes?
Star Wars battlefront, by far
It counts as a remake not a reboot because they reuse maps.
It is not nearly as good as either the first or second of the original
silent hill and final fantasy x
...
The Robocop remake is actually quite good if you forget that it's called Robocop. Definitely one of the better science-fiction movies to come out in recent years.
Pokemon ORAS
The remake was at least better than the horrendous Robocop 2 and 3
I can agree with this
...
Robocop 2 is god tier
Duke Nukem anniversary bullshit
Robocop (Original) >> Robocop (remake) >= Robocop 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Robocop 3
Robocop 2 and the remake are both perfectly acceptable compliments to the original. 3 was so detached from Robocop is that it might as well not have happened.
>dude just shut your brain off
fucking kys yourself
>The remake was at least better than the horrendous Robocop 2
You're terminated, fucker.
>Robocop (remake) over anything that's not 3
nice pleb opinions
>robocop 2
>horrendous
Goldeneye 64 by far has the worst """remake"""
>remake better than 2
Dead or alive, you're coming with me!
turtles in time
>Robocop 2
>shit
>Horrendous Robocop 2
Fuck you.
I watched the original Robocop for the first time a few years ago while high as a kite and it was like a fucking religious experience. I felt Murphy get brutally murdered by Boddicker. I felt the poor bastard in the news room get shredded by the hail of bullets. I felt Murphy's messianic struggle and by the end, I knew I would be the kind of person who could never trust a Robocop, but would know deep down that it was absolutely what ratshit Detroit really needed.
Are there any games capable of granting this feeling?
Inb4 DUDE
Also, the "remastered" music for FFX and Cave Story just isn't as good as the original tracks.
2 was a clusterfuck of a story but had some great moments. Remake was just mediocre all the way.
What's was wrong with FFX's remaster?
The music.
I didn't say that, just ditch the expectations that come with being associated with Verhoeven. It's not a Verhoeven movie and it doesn't try to be. Transhumanism and drone use were clever ways to take the premise, the cast was far better than it needed to be and they did a solid job representing various viewpoints rather than just stupidly sticking to one side and making everyone who wears a suit to work a sociopath. The corporate boss was actually interesting and sympathetic in a David Sarif type way and his relationship with the doctor and ersatz Freddy Krueger were interesting with how they all had different ideas on what Robocop should be.
Of course Verhoeven's action was better but this Brazillian guy did better than I thought he would, Operator Robocop isn't as fun as Verhoeven's giant walking gun Robocop but it still makes for some sleek sequences. And he even had a few novel ideas that wouldn't have seemed out of place in the original. Revealing Murphy as a head, esophagus and pair of lungs was very creepy. And Samuel L. Jackson as the tv pundit was very entertaining and relevant.
It's pretty much exactly on par with 2 imo.
>Robocop
>Religious Experience
Probably not a coincidence, Verhoeven is a devout Christian and deliberately filled the movie with Christian imagery. Obviously he's born again after dying a martyr, but he also (appears to) walk on water during the final action sequence and when he comes back he's first recognized by women. Verhoeven is a stealth kinographer who disguises himself as a pleb fodder salesman.
Most moved I've ever felt by a vidya kino would be Nier or Lost Odyssey. If you like Final Fantasy I'd definitely recommend Lost Odyssey.
Sorry about textwall, Sup Forums sucks to much to bother with.
Can it be modded back?
Oh right. I guess I forgot about that.
I really wish I could forget that
Jesus Christ this is the video games board why are we talking about Robocop?
Also, Bioshock: The Collection is pretty eh
Pretty sure the pc and ps4 versions let you use the original soundtrack now
Wasn't it a sequel?
DUDE
just kidding, it was not a terrible movie (still a waste of time)
>all this nostalgia ITT
WHERE
IS
KANE
>It's pretty much exactly on par with 2 imo
>limp-wrist big bad(s)
>takes itself way too seriously i.e. no jokes
>failed attempt in mimicking the TV reports of old robocops
>put more focus on family issues over old themes but still fails to make anyone care about his family
the only thing I liked about the remake is that it's at least partially self-aware of its status and the lungs scene.
Because the Game Boy tie-in is audio kino
Thanks for the input. I've already played Nier, and it was fantastic. I'll look into Lost Odyssey
WEED
Did the Robocop remake have this?
youtu.be
10/10
I don't think you watched it. The family is barely relevant.
you also missed this scene
youtube.com
I don't know what's wrong with you people hating on robocop 2.
Which RoboCop was the one where he shoots like 30 dicks off?
Didn't gearbox make devolver digital stop selling the megaton edition so they could sell their shitty anniversary edition
>The family is barely relevant.
Thanks for proving my point. nu-Murphy's family has more screen time than old Murphy, and half of it were from his hallucinations when he revisited his old house.
I believe that's Our Robocop Remake, a humorous "remake" collaboration.
Found it
I thought that Samuel L. Jackson's part was funny. Do you get the Sportsbet commercials with him in them in America? In Australia we get those all the time so I thought it was funny to see him do his salesman act on the big screen. And the way that he was always swinging issues to fit his narrative was a spot on representation of American news media. The movie was was more sober but not entirely humourless. Jackie Earle Haley seemed to be having fun whenever he was on screen, and so did Michael Keaton.
And I thought that they actually made good use of the family. The original barely used them but the scene where he goes back and finds his house being sold and freaks out was excellently done. Here having them around to react to his dehumanization worked pretty well and added another dimension to the moral dilemma around rebuilding him. He only wants to stay alive for their sake, but putting him back together as Robocop threatens to destroy him as the man they knew. And the corporation having to balance keeping him effective and keeping him recognizable as Murphy was cool. I thought that they showed a good amount of restraint with the family while still keeping them relevant and doing stuff with them. I actually hate forced family drama more than most and think that it can easily make a movie unwatchable but Robocop made it work.
Robo Flops alone make Robocop 2 worth seeing at least once.
The flashback sequence is something like 2 minutes long and does a good job of showing how jarred he is by suddenly waking up in a hydraulic powered tin can.
yes, gearbox were acting like a complete asshole with their "fuck you got mine" attitude, removing a superior megaton edition, taking the rights for the franchise away from a third-party, not originally involved in the shitstorm between 3d realms and gearbox.
Fuck them, i hope they'll fade away soon
holy shit
thank mr skeltal
The remake would have been far better if it wasn't meddled with by the studio
You don't understand. They're barely relevant because the film doesn't focus on them at all.
Apparently it's more 'accurate' than Megaton, but otherwise the voice re-recording, lacking any of the other expansions, and also having the minimum requirements on-par with Crysis are absolute bullshit.
We don't have Sportsbet at all here, Dundee.
It had this
youtube.com
I didn't see the Robocop remake. How hard is it to fuck up a robot cop murdering people?
COD: Modern Warfare Remastered
>post yfw the only way to get it on launch was by buying the worst COD game for $80 and then buying the remaster for $30 extra as a bundle
also, worse audio quality
here's an overview from a duke nukem enthusiast
youtube.com
You're missing out on ad-kino. You can be watching a Samuel L. Jackson movie, then when it cuts to a commercial you get to keep watching Samuel L. Jackson. I saw the remake on tv so I got to see Jackson playing his newscaster cutting straight to Jackson shilling mobile gambling. He does the exact same thing for both of them.
it got a stand-alone release week ago.
also, it cut out 10 maps out of it and sold them as along with skins
Its not god awful. They played around and changed up the roles of the original characters a bit. Its has a more depressing tone too. Its as good as it could be I think.
oops, wrong link.
here's correct one --> youtube.com
>a robot cop murdering people
I'm sorry to hear that's all you think the original is.
Hey now, I know it's plenty more than that. On the surface, that's what it is though.
Pretty hard but nothing modern day Hollywood couldn't accomplish.
I wouldn't say the RoboCop remake was AWFUL, just incredibly mediocre. It doesn't do anything particularly well, but it wasn't offensively bad except to not muhs.
They made Murphy interact directly with his family at his own home which is more than what has happened in both robocops.
Jackson's performance come off as uninspired to me IMO, I agree that they capture the feel of American media very well but other than that I felt that the news segments are very shoe-horned and I felt that Jackson was a miscast and they should have casted a charismatic old white guy.
The thing that irks me about the remake's family is that they don't bring too much to the table, they could have made the family extremely fearful of nu-Murphy's new existence, make the wife cold and distant at the dinner table and make his kid absolutely terrified, towards the end nu-Murphy can make a redemption or something similar that amounts to a statement that "I am still the Murphy you know."
instead the scene went "I am a robot now" "okay" and adds nothing to the movie.
Take a look at my face, Dick!
Pokemon Emerald
I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR
it was an acceptable action movie, it's like a DmC scenario but much less controversial here, the game itself is not absolutely trash but it ditches enough elements from the thing that it's suppose to be that it shouldn't be known from the same franchise.
>remake better than based Cain
Some of the Dark Horse comics are alright. They're 90s edge as fuck though.
Yeah what the fuck happened to the audio? It's made even worse when you consider that someone dug up all the original, uncompressed stock sounds for Doom and even found a lot of them for Duke.
>he doesn't know Robocop had games
>he didn't play Robocop vs Terminator as a kid
DROP IT-
my best guess is the audio ""engineer"" has attempted to imitate the old style by downsampling the audio and completely fucked it up (or maybe it's an in-house rebel that does everything to see the company go bankrupt)
>also, worse audio quality
I'm pretty sure that was patched close after release.
>shitting on robocop 2
get the fuck out
>silent hill
absolutely, however, if I can give it something positive, is that since there's less fog you can see more and I do like that
good on them - didn't pay attention after the launch debacle
Robocop was the okay movie but had the better arcade game. In the Japanese version you start from the end of the first movie which is Pure Ludo.
Final Fantasy 7
but the remasters music was better
It was stupid.
"hey wake up bitch we put you back together from scratch and you are now super duper good at everything"
>"ok but why do i still have a flesh hand? If i fall of my bike at 80mph or god fordbid get shot at by large robotic walkers i might hurt myself"
"hahaha yeah lol...."
No, it was just Goldeneye but with Daniel Craig as Bond.
The irony is that the reboot is actually very close to what they originally planned, until they got the suit for the first time and realized it wouldn't allow for all the fast and frantic motions they had initially realized, causing a 6 month delay and removing parts of the suit just to give us that stiff movement we ended up with that defined the 80s Robocop.
Beyond that, I'd say any of the mobile phone FF remakes, since SE just didn't care and literally phoned them in.
fuck me I'm tired
thought that was Kryton from Red Dwarf and was about to bitch you the fuck out
The first one looked awesome, like a Red Alert 2 unit or something.
...
I was thinking of Rogue Agent. My bad.
Ratchet remake reboot thing was pretty shit.
Thief
yeah
too bad goldeneye source is only multiplayer maps and they're never going to remake the campaign, because that would have been how I wanted a remake, well, at least level design wise, I didn't really like that they kept the same basic weapon reloads and need to press a button to see they crosshair
doom 3 bfg edition which makes the game worse in several ways at once
>You will never be autistic enough to make an 80 minute video nitpicking and citing every possible difference between the original and the reboot of Ratchet and Clank
Shut down your Nostalgia, R&C 2016 is better than every PS2 Crash except 3 which is a masterpiece. It goes like this
3>2016=Crack in Time=>2>The Rest
End of Alex Murphy.
