I'm alive to entertain myself not impress other people
I do all the above so fite me.
>live life
>die in the end
>Play a videogame
>Improve the neurological pathways
>gain lightning fast reflexes
To kill people online.
To ease my suffering from living, we all die anyway, why would I read books
>tfw to intelligent for videogames
>why would I read books
millennials, everybody.
You improve your reaction times, problem solving skills and overall manage to enjoy yourself like you do while reading a book, playing an instrument or drawing.
>have a dream
>?????????
point being that dreams are just as useless as videogames, yet they're profound
t. nerd
I'm sure becky will be impressed you read the art of war for no reason
>read a book
>become more intelligent
Imagine how many thousands of hours you have wasted playing videogames. Now imagine you invested that time into something productive instead. You could play a musical instrument at a competent level, you could have learned multiple different languages, you could have mastered a martial art. But instead you wasted that time looking at a screen and pressing buttons to acquire instant gratification.
What is this, Persona 5?
>y
Because I've hit a wall with guitar and I don't really know how to move forward.
It's not a dichotomy of either/or.
If you're not retarded you can easily do all that AND play games.
I would most likely be dead from suicide because of sheer boredom
One day you'll be dead regardless of what you do, who gives a fuck. Stop feeling guilty for enjoying something.
>you could have
and yet here you are feelsmanposting on a mongolain pictograph discussion board desu. You got no one to blame but yourself for this.
>Generalizig this much
lmao it's rare to see someone invested in only one thing. no different here.
>play a video game
>another day without killing myself
This.
If i had fun doing something productive i wouldnt need videogames.
wow you must be REAL fun at parties
>play the guitar
Sucks how practically nobody knows about Rocksmith.
Im not thats why i dont go, all everyone does is talk about shit i dont care about ita boring
fun
>used to play sports until 2 knee injuries made it so I am in pain when I play
>switch to chess
>play the fuck out of that until I ran out of local opponents
>start playing in tournaments for my school
>eventually chess bored bores me
>found Starcraft one day
>never went back to chess
Some games are just as competitive as hockey while requiring the thought level of chess. It's not my fault you play vns op.
Oh, they know.
What is never said on this subject is that learning an instrument doesn't create any talent which isn't already there. You can read sheet music as well as you want - if you don't have a keen perception of sounds, chords, progression, improvisation, and structure, you won't ever be a good player regardless.
Musicians are born, not raised.
You wouldn't unless you were interested in a topic or a subject and you've found a quality book talking about that.
I became /lit/ after a drug frenzy period that inspired me to read McKenna's inane thoughts about psychedelics. I had read LOTR and Hobbit, but that's pretty much it.
That's bullshit, I read a book once, I didn't become more intelligent. OP is lying to you, guys.
>play video games
>scratched that itch in my mind now that I've finally finished my backlog
I took like 3 years away from video games and I constantly thought "I still haven't finished those games I wanted to play"
-entertainment
-to be moved
-stimulate my brain
-challenge myself
-narrative
-etc.
>play a game
>learn game design which you can make practical use of when making your own game
You ARE making your own game, right?
>video games stimulate my brain
You realize these things aren't mutually exclusive, right?
I can practice programming, learn a new language, exercise, study for uni, work a job, and still invest thousands of hours into video games.
There are millions of skills like being a professional at curling, mastering the piccolo, or making the perfect spotted dick that I'll miss out on throughout my lifetime, but what's the point of saying "I have more skills" if I wasn't learning from or enjoying them?
To figure out what I like and don't like and why so that I can get better at designing games, which I make for fun and profit.
satisfies my autistic desires.
>He said something accurate, better quote it and post a reaction image!
>play a video game
>forget about all the loneliness and boredom in your life for a while
Most people playing guitar don't make their own music, they simply don't have the creativity. How is looking up tabs and playing them like a monkey any different to playing video games on a practical level?
>>read a book
>>gain new perspectives, become more intelligent
When will this meme die?
When it stops reflecting reality, which is never. Although you do need to be willing to learn and read more than just fiction.
when books become banned which is soon
Nothing man I'm just a pile of human garbage why do you even ask
user, people aren't just simply born with those abilities, they're trained after countless hours of practice/learning music theory. Sure some people may catch onto those abilities easier than others but saying that you can only be born with those abilities is a stretch.
>improve your creative skills
>become more intelligent
Haven't seen such blatant underage in a while
>le party meme
Fuck off summerfag
Videogames nowadays pay out more than playing musical instruments. Your average vidya streamer earns more than an average pianist for example.
>bait on an Cambodian fishnetting website
>??????
I play vidya because I fuck man ass.
Because they're entertaining you autist.
I also practice drawing on the side, it's not like vidya takes up all my free time.
>le summerfag meme
fuck off newfag
Reading doesn't make you smart. It depends what you're reading but faggots think they're smart for reading shit
Personally, after I started reading more books I noticed my grammar improving, my vocabulary widening and my general skills in both writing and character creating getting better.
So I dunno about making you smarter, but it can definitely help you in many areas.
>He plays video games at parties
Haha I can just picture you now. Skinny-fat loser guaranteed.
Time you enjoyed wasting is not time wasted.
What books did you read?
It's a fun pass time. And I do plenty of other shit with my life. Got my own place, have a pretty decent job, have friends, and a girlfriend. Now piss off.
afaik dave grohl never took any lessons or had any help. he just beat the drums until shit started sounding good and then played for nirvana and foo fighters. not only that, he made an entire album where he played every part of the band. if that's not natural talent I dunno what is
It's only wasted if you didn't enjoy it. And since Sup Forums doesnt enjoy anything, sad reflections like this are par for the course. Instead of whining on Sup Forums you could've used the time to pursue one of the other hobbies you mentioned. It's not anyone else's fault that vidya is a black-hole timesink for you, you just don't want to be alone in that vidya is your only refuge
Yeah but he still had to work to get to that point. I'm not saying that talent doesn't exist, I'm just saying that talented people still have to work hard.
