I have. But it's really not that special as someone who has already played 3K a hundred times. I'd recommend it to a first time player though
Taxman 3&K any day now.
Is it possible to play the mobile versions on PC with a controller? I don't even....
A taxman version with all S3C features and 16:9 would be god tier
I wish but I don't think it'd happen with the music copyrights. 3 mobile is pretty much ready to go Sega just needs to sign off on it and they won't
But I have played the definitive version.
I played through Sonic 3&K on my old Genesis earlier this year, back when Mania was supposed to come out in the Spring.
>No re-release because of music copyrights
Fuck this gay earth. I'm sure MJ would have allowed it if he was still alive.
They've rereleased it before though with the music intact. Isn't it fine as long as it's a port?
already did
it's not just MJ though
I don't know the details but it has to do with emulation vs porting it I think. For example the original PC version had to replace the music but you can play it intact on Steam
the original PC version isn't the one on steam, it's just emulated like the others.
the only version that runs natively is taxman's sonic CD remake/remaster
The original PC version must run natively because it's framerate is synced to your computer's CPU
yeah it's fucked but it's not the one on steam
I fucked up too, I think the sonic 3d blast version on steam is the proper pc version and it works just fine iirc
Oh, but I have. I'm actually thinking of playing some of the less good Sonic games to prepare for Mania. It's gonna seem even better if I come to it directly from Lost World, you know?
I know, I belong in a madhouse.
I did that. Out of all the "bad" Sonic games, I find 06 to be the best of them. It has the framework of a good game and some decent level design and ideas. To me, the worst Sonic games are the ones that are boring as fuck or awfully designed, like Knuckles Chaotix, all of those awful Game Gear games, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Lost World.
Mania is going to be like eating a pizza with a big ass pumpkin pie after eating nothing but celery sticks and chicken for a year. ITS GONNA BE FUCKING AMAZING
...
Oh shit, son.
C'mon step it up
>a port
The Taxman and Stealth remakes aren't ports, ya chucklefuck.
Done this so many times i cant be bothered to do it anymore
I already have like 3 times for each character. My favorite thing about it is how it made Super Sonic a multi-button activation and you can also turn it off, while also not losing your shield and only speeding up the zone theme instead of using the invincibility theme.
I can't wait for Mania. I'm hoping Hydrocity is gonna make it in and I can't wait to see what they've done to Flying Battery.
>He plays S3&K instead of S3 and S&K separately
Complete has everything from both games
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
FORGOT MY IMAGE REE
This guy is a suck and a fucking cuck. Also his fucking audio sucks. I'm a traveling salesman and hear this listened to all his and his brother's bullshit
>he unironically plays it wrong
That gif looks cute until you learn that one of the girls grows a dick and fucks the other one.
I'm actually playing it the correct way.
You would if you played 3&K.
newfag@s3complete here, how do i start this?
Just run the rom in an emulator. Then if you wanna change settings, just look in the options.
>Playing them separately
For literally what purpose
To be a contrarian faggot.
Maybe it's a stylistic choice to differentiate the new zones from the old?
If a mania 2 were to happen which 3D zones if any would you want to see re-interpretered into the classic 16-bit style
I'd like to see Lost World tackled. Maybe Metal Harbor as well.
Putting Mirage Saloon on two lines makes it look better
>modern shit
Grand Metropolis zone maybe?
Gotta have at least something from Heroes.
It's an unpopular suggestion but I was hoping Mania would have a 3D sonic game level re-imagined in 2D. Pumpkin Hill with classic 2D level design and music would have been LOTY.
Why would I want 3D zones re-interpreted into 16-bit, that sounds terrible
All-new zones, or failing that, the "obscure" classic-era zones. I'm talking Game Gear, Chaotix, hell put a fucking SegaSonic Arcade zone in there. Anything before resorting to 3D Sonic stages. And for the record I don't even dislike the Adventures or the Boost titles, I just don't think they have any business being in Mania
Hang Castle or Mystic Mansion would be cool. The closest classic Sonic ever got to a "haunted" zone was Sandopolis Act 2 and kind of Mystic Cave.
A remake of Botanic Base or Marina Madness could be pretty cool. Hell, maybe even Isolated Island.
Im guessing you can bind your controller to an android emulator
Which Android emulator actually works and isn't filled to the brim with most likely adware or something.
Nah fuck that. Go for Sonic BTS and ATS. Though out of of all the bad games, Sonic and The Secret Rings was pretty good.
why are people waiting until now to shill this when it's existed for many years?
To get people to warm up for Mania of course.
I'm so glad Cybershell is back
>The Sonic 2 bonus episode was released in my lifetime
no, the steam version of 3D blast is also the emulated genesis version, which is a shame because it looks and sounds much worse. i know because i have that turd from preordering sonic generations.
not seeing how that makes it less cute.
DS emu sucks I can never get the aspect ratio right. I just wanna play colours, everyone says it's good
>Go for Sonic BTS and ATS.
I can't really get into those, the physics are just not quite there and it really bugs me. And the fact that they barely run at all on a post XP system is a problem too.
>all of those awful Game Gear games,
You better not be including the Master System games in there without factoring in the fact that the GG versions are just bad ports, m80! Sonic 2 MS is top 3 Sonic material.
>post XP system is a problem too
They run on W10 fine for me, albeit with the cutscenes turned off.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought ATS and BTS are weird. They don't really feel like sequels or prequels with how busy some of the level design is compared to the games they're following up on and the enemy design is ass.
Not really running right then, is it? As I recall they have no joystick support either. I know Joy2key is a thing, but it shouldn't need to be. To have a Sonic game be designed to be played with keyboard only, arrow keys no less, it's a terrible design flaw.
>Not really running right then, is it?
I gusss not, but the cutscenes were never important to me in the first place; keyboard controls don't bother me either, are they really that detrimental to the experience?
>enemy design is ass
Particularly the bosses, they've all been fairly forgettable.
>I dont know what question marks are and as a result other anons have no fucking clue this is a question.
KYS下さい。
>are they really that detrimental to the experience?
No, not for most players I should think as one can use Joy2key to get around it anyway but it does go to exemplify the amatuer status of the game. Somebody who couldn't into computers at all would be forced to use a bad control scheme and that's quite a problem.
It's true I'm nitpicking for no reason now, I don't even remember why I brought it up. I don't hate the games or anything, but I would recommend any decent romhack over them.
I'm playing it right now and I'm too shit at the special stages to get all the super emeralds.
I've had to start from scratch three times by now.
Blue Spheres is the easiest special stage of the four classic ones. You gotta learn the timing for jumping over red ones without touching them. Also always make rings by outlining boxes of spheres. Don't even bother getting the rings.
Just do what I did and play through the game as Super Sonic and play the super emerald stages through the level select
I'm getting my ass handed to me by Labyrinth zone robotnigg.
What's the trick?
>Inb4 Gitgud
don't panic and go for a jump too early
Beat the stage not the boss
Holy hell why the fuck is Taxman's Sonic 1 only on mobile? I've never been so pissed off trying to get these Chaos Emeralds. And fucking Labyrinth is giving me migraines
It's not even canon to begin with. You only get the Egg Robo ending with Super Sonic and that leads into Knuckles' story
That's all well and good, but where's the sonic 2 bonus video?
Literally just focus. It's a vertical platforming challange, not an actual boss.
This re-releases were just redistributions of the original game.
From most cases I've read, they fall in some sort of grey area where some licensing rights of the original release still apply as long as they're not changed from the original presentation in any form.
Focus on the platforming, not Robotnik himself
>tfw had no trouble clearing the game with all emeralds using only the touchscreen
They're honestly some of the better touchscreen controls I've used for a game.
>no option to change music to FM synthesiser
wow it's yet again a load of fucking nothing. sonic fans really are braindead retard faggots.
The controls are responsive enough for touchscreen, but a lot of the times my jumps are just eaten due to lack of feedback and I'm stuck having to reset constantly. I got all 6, but only so I don't have to do so again
This shit needs to be on a real system
I never got the praise for the games. They're not that good and Sonic handles like he has shoes made of lead
One of the main troubles I had was when I accidentally rolled into a ball instead of jumping cause my thumb was on the screen slightly wrong. It didn't happen very often, but it happened and it was annoying when it did. The Sonic 1/Sonic 2 remakes being put on Steam would be a complete dream.
It's mostly the music that people praise.
>we'll never see wide-screen S3complete
Niggas, it's been done with lua scripting and emutors before. We simply need a competent enough programmer to work their way with bizhawk
youtu.be
There's barely anything in Sonic that demands the use of a controller. You move left or right, press down and have just one action button. The mobile ports have some nice beefy controller layouts that the only reason you would be fucking up button presses is if your fat thumb was in the way
Its crazy how a few days before this video was made I was wondering if someone made a s3&k patch that restored the sonic 3 extra life jingle but didnt think anyone would cater to my autism
Shouldn't have underestimated the sonic fanbase
It's totally possible considering some PJ64 has hacks to make the games widescreen even if it makes the huds and transitions look utterly retarded
But goddamn is that gonna take some time. We might get Taxman's S3&K before S3C sees widescreen support. But who knows, maybe a miracle can happen
The tactile responsiveness of a controller beats the no feedback of a touchscreen any day.
I remember colors DS being rather barebones, but It's been so long I can't really remember the details.
I preferred rush/rushadventure
It's basically Sonic Rush 3, but the zones felt quite barren. They invented some new gimmicks for some zones though which was nice I guess, but it's really just a barebones Sonic Rush. Best thing to come out of it is it's special stage music.
It's a watered down Rush without Blaze with random characters making forced cameos all over the place and a dumb as fuck final boss just because Dimps jerks off to Super Sonic final bosses based on Sonic Colors
Generations 3DS has a lot less to offer, but was just a much more interesting game
>Holy hell why the fuck is Taxman's Sonic 1 only on mobile?

>Sega's already finished up their 3 Sonic game contract
What's the excuse now?
Shadow the Hedgehog and chicken is amazing you faggot
Dunno, guess they're waiting for mania to come out now, because I'd guess they don't want to burn people out with classic Sonic games.
I expect a couple months or so after Mania's release they'll sneak them on Steam and consoles.
Guys what's better, the Taxman remakes or the 3DS remakes of 1 and 2?
Taxman remakes by far. They're the legit best way to play Sonic 1, 2 or CD at this point.
3DS benefits
>Spin Dash
Taxman benefits
>Spin Dash
>Tails & Knuckles
>Option to get a 7th Chaos Emerald
>16:9, 60 FPS
A 7th emerald? How?
The Taxman remakes are the definitive versions of each classic game, this is not up to debate.
I believe if you do No Save Mode and activate the Level Select you have the options to fuck around and raise the max emerald count to 7 instead of 6
It'll make all characters Super, even Tails
How do you activate a level select in no save mode? Of course he'd sneak something like this in.
