Have you ever pirated a game and ended up liking it so much that you payed for it?

Have you ever pirated a game and ended up liking it so much that you payed for it?

>mfw people pay for single player games

No, I'm a stingy fuck.

Yeah.

I did that with

Invisible Inc.
Transistor
House of the Dying Sun
Prey (2017)

Yes

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando and
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Crash Team Racing

Pokemona nd persona, western games are garbage though, I liked a few but I don't wanna support the devs

Yes. Also movies and books.

Honestly yeah, this is like the only good side of pirating honestly. If i try a game and decide that its actually worth the money and i should support the developers i usually buy the game.

I did it with the Witcher games and the Forest.

Yes, plenty of times.

Yeah, many times, i figured if i like it enough to finish it it's worth paying for, but if i didn't absolutely love it i wait for a $20 or below sale.

I did it with darkest dungeon and hollow knight, but the only reason I bought darkest dungeon is because the steam release had a bunch of updates.

Max Payne 2, HL 2 and Minecraft just to name a few, on the other side, pirating has saved me from wasting money on literal garbage like Pillars of Eternity.

ofc you are happy, cheap leech. Thanks to us you have something to play.

M&B warband
Cities Skyline (Just my way of saying fuck you to Sims city)
Witcher 3 (Because I wanna support a good AAA standard)

Skyrim, to be honest. Literally the first game in years, at the time, that got me hooked. Have to give it to Bethesda Game Studios for creating such a fanastic game after the mess that is New Vegas. Dawnguard was also right around the corner so I knew there's no better way to enjoy the game than playing on a purchased copy.

Yeah, I did it with ARK back when it was 20 USD

>hotline miami
>terraria
>FTL
>New Vegas
>STALKER SoC (i bought the collection, but really disliked clear sky)

I buy tes and fallout games but pirate the dlc

dying light.

i actually was about 3/4 of the main campaing, then i stoped and waited for the ultimate edition to come out and bought that.

>pirate pretty much everything when in school /while in university
>since getting a job bought almost every one of these games, even though never playing them again
feels fair

I fucking loved that game, still waiting for a decent sale though, the enhanced edition fucked me over as far as waiting sales goes but i'm not in a hurry, i've got a backlog for years to come.

Dark Souls.

>payed

Dragon's Dogma

No

no but when i played the world in conflict beta, i was pretty sure to get it, i had so much fun with it

I did that for shovel knight, but it was for a differnet system

EDF. Even after I've beaten it in the pirate servers.

No.

>mfw people pay for multi player games

it's the shit heads with legit opinions as described in your shitpost are the reasons AAA publishers have focused almost completely on Multiplayer and "SP don't sell" mindset.

yes, several times, actually.
STALKER
Penumbra
Half-Life series

The reason was mostly that i didn't have any money to buy those

Yes, plenty of times.

I pirated Nep Rebirth1 on PC when it came out for le ebin maymays and enjoyed it so much I bought a Vita with RB2 since I didn't want to wait the year+ it'd take for it to come out on PC. Then later on I bought RB1 on Vita when it was on sale too, just to have it with my other Nep cases on my shelf.

Loads of times. I'm probably at 50/50 right now.

>pirate and try a game first
>if it's enjoyable buy it after 2 or 3 years and when it's on sale and costs like $1
Best way to buy games.

Command and Conquer series
Heroes of MIght and Magic Series
Age of Empire Series
Prince of Persia series
many many others

>payed

I did. I pirated Demon's Souls sometime back in 2010 and had no idea what to expect, I just thought the name sounded cool. I ended up buying the game and the later installments too.

Bayonetta, Witcher 3.

Undertale, only one. I mostly buy single player games anyways, I just pirated initially undertale because I didn't think I was going to like it much.

Yup, done that with nearly every game I liked. I pirate when there is no demo version available, you wouldn't buy a pig in a sack, would you?

>I pirated Nep Rebirth1 on PC
I'm gonna have to do that at some point, i played the PS3 original when it was released and it was absolute fucking trash but people keep recommending the rebirth game so i assume it is nigh on a completely different game.

>not pirating every game you play
>not giving zero money to the industry and then complaining like a little faggot when only complete shit gets made because they're the only games that people paid for

I buy pigs in a blanket.

Post more cute asians.

Left The Witness after finding out that I'd like the game, next year I bought it for 10€ and had a blast.
Pirated Life is Strange after playing the free chapter, played it, bought it a few months later for 5€.
Pirated Furi after tasting it in a friend's PS4, played it, got it for 11€ last summersale.

And that's about it in recent memory, I tried to pirate other games but the process is often sloppy and I would rather play the game good as it is, with no fuckery in my computer between me and the game.

Borderlands 1, i liked it so much that i bought it, then i bought the 2 ALL dlc, played it for about 4000 hours, then i pre ordered pre-sequel and got tired of it after 50 hours, only to go back on BL2.

yep. torrent 100% of early access cancer since banished, if they finish and release i buy. I.E. Darkest Dungeon

Yep. Bought it when it was on sale.

Factorio, SpaceChem, Kerbal Space Program, Sky Rogue.

I have very specific vidya autism needs so I want to reward devs who feed it. Rogue System's next on my list if it ever leaves this extremely early access it's got going on.

Yes, I pirated NieR:Automata when the Denuvo crack came out and then bought the game during the summer sale.

Yes including:

Divinity: Original Sin
Rabi Ribi
Hollow Knight
Factorio
Civilization V
Stellaris

only once.
it was risk of rain.

Grimoire

dark souls

Dark Souls and Nier Automata come to mind.

Yes. Mostly indie games because they're so hit-or-miss, but AAA titles too usually once they go on sale. Buying games for full price is for suckers.

Off the top of my head LIMBO, Mark of the Ninja, I bought Braid twice after pirating, once on xbla and once on pc, DmC, The Surge, Dark Souls 3. Plenty more.

Yeah. Most NEO•GEO games in the late 90's/early 00's.

I did the opposite with ff7 since some fucker stole from me twice. im not buying it a third time. that includes remake.

Yeah I did this many times.
I did this with Remember Me

Pokemon Black
Persona 3
Banished

I don't pirate often, usually just if I'm really iffy on if I'm going to like a game.

Uncharted 2. Well more like I just HAD to experience the multiplayer.

I never pirated since. Already have too many games anyway.

No, but I streamed Gurren Lagann and FLCL and bought them afterwards.

lul

I do this all the time. As a result, I haven't played most of my games on steam.

Yup.

Yeah, stardew valley was one of them.

It's almost unrecognizably different gameplay-wise. It's not GREAT, but it's a fairly enjoyable, if somewhat shallow experience much unlike the first game.

The World Ends with You. Which I subsequently ended up buying twice more.

terraria

Yes

Only did it for Nier

>Something that pirates delude themselves into thinking they will do.

Never happens, they always find the smallest reason to not buy it.

I have no respect for thieves that do mental gymnastics to convince themselves they are in the right. I have more respect for people who pirate because they can and get away with paying nothing.

Yeah, plenty of times. Why?

Yea. Did it for both Morrowind and Nuclear Throne. Don't really pirate that often tho.

yea with games movies even albums i pirated the deadpool movie and didnt even make it past the title screen before i went to the theater to see it

>payed
On the topic, I bought Kane and Lynch 2 because I want to play coop with my bro. Fuck them for making the coop online only yet having lan in the MP mode.

How did you pirate Nier? Or do you mean Automata?

Aquaria

I actually didn't like the game, but I loved the soundtrack.

people can't steal out of your steam library user

Spellforce. I haven't pirated a game since 2005 tho

skyrim
dragon age origins
dark souls 3

I got into Monster Hunter and a variety of other games I would have otherwise never touched through my hacked 3ds and I plan on purchasing World

Yes

The Precursors,
remember that Ukranian stalker-meets-deus ex in space game that was fotm here a few years ago?

Last game i did this was Super Hot
I downloaded it, finished the main quest, and bought it immediatly

Not quite. But I did pay for Trails in the Sky SC and the 3'rd because I liked the first game, which I'd pirated even though I knew I could just as easily pirate them. I want to support good games but it's hard to justify paying for something I already have.

Devs, always make good games with better sequels. I'm still gonna pirate your first game though, 'cause chances are it's shit.

Trials and Tribulations
Zero escape (pirated 999, bought VLR. Fortunately I pirated ZTD)
Gta IV

i usually only pirate games that are heavily censored here in germany

yes.
sometimes it bites me in the ass because the DRM made the game I just paid for WORSE than the pirated version I was already playing

>pirate game
>play like a hundred hours
>buy it
>desire to play suddenly vanishes
ayy lmao

hotline miami 1&2
also soundtrack dlcs and jacket pack in pd2

Well I played the Overlord series and just bought all of them for 8 dollars. I guess that counts.
Mostly this though.
Why pay for a single player experience? It's why most companies are making everything always online grind fests.

Mount and Blade
**Assassin's Creed**

getting close with andromeda desu, its just fun even with the buggy animations

Yes, dozens of times.

Actually, with most pirated games I played for more than 3 hours.

Furi
Hotline miami 2
Freedom planet
Dead rising
Botw

I do that all the time, those are just the most recent I can remember.

Yeah, I pay for all the games I play because people put hard work into them and I would like to see them spend their time update and patch them. Take My Summer Car, I paid for it, it's updated constantly, and I get to support my favorite kind of people; depressing, melancholic Finns.
