Is VR merely a fad?

Is VR merely a fad?

pc hardware is not nearly good enough to push standard looking games in VR, so it's all mostly shitty graphics and mini games.

will it ever take off or is it gonna lose momentum and crash?

>s-sourgrapes
>poorfags!
>you've never tried VR so you dont get to criticize it

there you go, saved you a thread.

All in due time. Gotta start somewhere

Archangel on PSVR convinced me that the tech is already good enough for true VR

The first steps will always be the toughest. That said, this is the closest we've ever come to easily-accessible consumer-grade VR. Give it time to grow and innovate, and I'm sure there will be greater usage of it.

No it's not a fad. But the problem with VR really is motion sickness and needing a larger field of view. The problem is having a larger field of view I'm told is what causes motion sickness , some games in VR even further restrict your field of view during moving and turning parts of the game.
When you imagine VR you imagine The Matrix , and it kind of is that , but you're wearing goggles the whole time.
Of course once the game gets going you forget about all that.
And motion sickness can be overcome and only applies to some games.

VR is waiting on lower costs and a "Super Mario Bros."-esque game to set the standards for how VR games should play.

motion sickness is mostly caused by framerate drops, I'm a salesperson for oculus doing techdemos and shit, we use one of these Asus gaming rigs (skylake i7, gtx 970) and the games all run smooth and good looking

Who are the fucking cunts that ran these advertising campaigns? Whoever was in charge of it deliberately wanted to make it look like shit. There is no way anyone thought some fat fucks prancing in the air like faggots wouldn't look retarded and disgusting.

>the problem with VR really is motion sickness
no it isn't. that only happens when you don't have high enough fps and then get high latency.

the problem with VR is goggle cost + hardware to run it on

Glad as fuck to hear that. I'm saving for PlayStation VR right now. What other games should I buy? How's Farpoint?

>Gotta start somewhere
It's been trying to get started for 25 years, it's safe to assume shit's never going to take off.

The only way VR will become a thing is when the technology allows you be in an actual virtual world and not have a pair of screens on your face. Then again i would'nt want my brain connected to a computer world but who knows about future generations.

You haven't even tried it, moron.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll forget all about VR, and still be playing regular ol' games on a screen in 20 years time.
You stupid piece of fucking filth. How about firing up your goddamn neurons for a change, you ignorant goose. Suck the cock of goats and swallow the seed of the devil. You deserve it, you champion of idiot questions and sion of stupid threads

>you're not a chef you cant tell the food is bad

I've seen enough to tell. If i had to fork out the dosh you tools have for those things i'd probably be on your side defending my regretful purchase t with angry tears on my eyes.

>I've seen enough
How old are you again?

How the fuck can you argue your point with any sort of validity when you haven't even experienced modern VR?

Kill yourself.

18, so I've experienced all there is to life.

You sweet, innocent child.

user it was bait, but it did raise my heart rate a bit to be fair

36.

>how can you tell the food is bad if you're not a chef

Uh-uh-uh, there we go again.

I had a feeling.

Not even remotely the same thing. Kill yourself, you fat piece of shit. Not everything is about food.

OK now tell me, in all YOUR experiences thus far, youre saying there hasn't been any progress in vr.

don't be angry at

Pls he didn't see who you were responding too

>Not even remotely the same thing
It's the same.

They are mostly the same, either shit that looks like tech demos, zombie wave shooters or zombie wave shooter that look like tech demos. Nothing that you cant already do on your computer.

Are you high?

Stop. You're making yourself look stupid as fuck.

Can you say food is bad if you have only seen a picture of it?

Typically yes, you can. 99% of the time if food looks like shit, it tastes like shit.

You can't argue with Americans. Don't even bother. Literally everything is about food.

OK let me ask you in a different way. Have you not seen any progression in vr at a technical, visual, or level of depth involved in it.

Well i didnt blow 500+ dollaridoos on something that's gathering dust so it's scientifically proven that i'm the smarter in this exchage.

He hasn't even tried modern VR. He has no fucking clue. Don't even bother.

>Have you not seen any progression in vr at a technical, visual, or level of depth involved in it.

Only the graphics and those didnt improve because of VR, in fact i think VR has regressed because in order to fight motion sickness you are no longer allowed to move freely but are limited to teleport to different positions in most of them.

Pass the salt, babe.

I haven't bought VR yet. I didn't judge it, either. I'm mocking you 'cause you didn't try it before rendering a final verdict. You're a cuck. You swallow the opinions of others and ask for seconds. I doubt you remember what it's like to form a genuine opinion. I'd be willing to bet that you enjoy e-celeb faggotry.

It' still a goddamn helmet. Call me when it's a pair of glasses that doesn't weight half a kilogram.

>all these assumptions
>all this name calling

WAIT! are you judging me without even knowing me online?!!!!! you cant judge me without even trying me!

The tech is still being perfected geez. Give is some time.

Not an argument.

I am giving it time. If It's as unobtrusive as regular glasses, I can see myself getting very hyped for it. Not now though. I don't see myself wearing the current helmets for extended periods of time, so what's the point.

Yes an argument, you're being a massive hypocrite.

I haven't tried it, but I heard it isn't bad. You don't even notice it once you start playing.

You're not worth my time.

Tell me where you live so you can try me offline, you can even wear that helmet screen while i ram your buttcheeks, c'mere ya faggot.

The disembodied hands look retarded. I'm not playing any game with disembodied hands period.

>it's a first person whatever
>but the monitor fills your entire field of view!
>and you can hold these goofy plastic handles
Call me when VR isn't just an enhanced display for the same games you've already played.

...

That's right, ME. You cant judge me without trying me!

I just don't think the general public is going to stick with vr as the video games of the future. I think it will stay as a sub-genre, but going home after a long day of work to put on a helmet and wave your arms around just seems too demanding of the average person.

Ive seen that pose before. Do marketers really believe a fat barefoot guy prancing around like an idiot is going to sell VR?

what about people with glasses?

I'm getting contacts before I buy VR.

Yeah, clearly in the past 25 years virtual reality has made no progress. You're very insightful user.

The problem with VR is that it's an expensive tertiary peripheral and not at all a replacement for the screen you already have.

Thank you, but you still dont tel me where you live so you can try me.

>tfw can't tell if trolling
oh what the hell, its from a show

What show?

Dude's not even me. You're making yourself seem even more retarded.

>not even me
Yes you are.
