Do you Sup Forumsirgins actually form communities of people you talk to regularly through games or other means? More and more recently I'm seeing so many discord groups spammed everywhere and I feel so out of the loop. I feel like I'm way more autistic than even you guys because I just sit here as a NEET and don't communicate with anyone except through anonymous text posts. I tried adding people on steam from Sup Forums and I haven't communicated with them once. Am I fucking doomed? Am I the only one this antisocial?

I'm an old fag, so to me discord is a better IRC, the problem is that, easy to use apps like discord steal the user base from communities that have a harder barrier of entry.

You know, you used to have forums where you needed to up your reputation by being involved in the community. Same with IRC channels, your just a nobody until you start talking.

The application itself is just IRC with voice chat. But the community surronding it is disgusting.

I'm inclined to agree with this guy I WAS popular in high school but I've become a shut in NEET and I'd do anything to have the confidence to talk to people that actually share my interests now that I have the opportunity.

Its like I was more comfortable being someone that wasn't me because I could easily make friends and socialize when i was 13-18 years old but the last 3 years I've been able to just play games and be myself and I cant talk to anyone.

Test the waters of social interaction, if you really are that autistic you will see it almost like an experiment. Talk about certain things your subject has in common with you and think about how they are reacting, maybe it's a useful way and you can replicate that with someone else. Figure out the social patterns necessary so you can eventually bag yourself a waifu. You will need to talk to game gurls though because from my experience they are an entirely different species, don't respond to memes well and always want to talk about themselves. God speed.

Small "games in general" communities are hard to find, especially since none of them advertise and stay close knit

This. I've subbed into a few game subs plus one for a podcast community but I never bother with either beyond a lurk once a month or checking out the hot Goss in one. I've used the pubg one just to find a group but other than that they're all meaningless to me unless it's the one with my friends

I have a few discords that I pop into occasionally. If it's much bigger than 40-50 people its usually a shitshow

We talk about general video game stuff, some servers of various types, some people are into MOBAs, some into other games, and we're all just there to play vidya. There's people from USA, Europe, and all over the world, but the server is in US Central.

We have 100+ people in but not everyone talks, it isn't crazy active, it's just kinda chill.

I've joined a few discord servers, but I rarely talk in them. I just stick to the people I know since I'm not really interested in meeting new people.

I have three groups of friends that I play with. It's kinda hard to keep them from getting mad that I'm playing with others.

I use IRCs, and I just talk to one person.

I have a group I've kept around for about 8-10 years and we moved from IRC, to mumble/TS, to discord, so I keep it open anyway.

It's an easy to understand version of IRC so there's an excess of retards. It's not the first time we've seen how the more open a community is its quality worsens.

The only gaming community I'm remotely apart of is the shitfest that is playing RoR with Sup Forums love you guys

Other than that I have discord to talk to my friends as an alternate Skype and there's a big group set up by people at my school to shitpost and get class help.

They're almost always absolutely terrible, especially when it's a Sup Forums related discord. The sheer magnitude of circlejerking, drama for literally no reason, desperate pleas for attention, and bizarrely high number of trans will cause you to absolutely hate everyone in the Discord.

You're honestly better off literally never using a third party form of communication when playing online vidya.

It depends on the kind of person you are. Some people like them, some people don't. Communities aren't objectively good or bad. One person might like a community that another one would get incredibly annoyed by.

I have absolutely no interest in discord servers or any kind of group chats. They are always filled with the kind of people I don't get along with. All I need is a single person to discuss whatever shit I'm interested in at a time.
